The endless talks are what a CNN commentator called an escalation trap, either Trump makes concessions or escalation of the war.  The Tehran Regime are past Masters at playing the West when it comes to nuclear talks, the Obama deal took two years to get done and its cost, thus the worry by Trump that he is being played and the Iranian Regime wants to unfreeze its assets held in banks due to American sanctions.  The White House has gone very quiet on the issue.

This blog could never see Bush 41 being that frank about Reagan or Biden about Obama.  VP Harris blames Biden, her campaign staff for her loss in 2024, she does not seem to get the fact that outside California she might be a BAD CAMPAIGNER, even Obama from news reports had doubts about her in a general election and wanted her to fight for the Nomination rather than be given it by the powers that control the Democratic Party.  HARRIS is running in 2028.

President Obama is great at rhetoric, and has charisma to spare, but it was a mistake to say such remarks with President Trump on a State Visit to the UK, if nothing else it will annoy Trump, who has a very thin skin to insults from Democrats, and from Obama specifically.  Lets recall that the American people had a choice of a third Obama term in 2016 with Hillary Clinton, and they elected Trump45, Obama  left OFFICE with a 58% approval raring in a Gallup poll, well behind Reagan on 63% and Clinton on 66%.  Also Reagan saw his VP became President, Bush41, no two term President following has had that success.  BIDEN was thrown out by his own Party.

The Republicans control all three branches of Government, in the House its by a few Seats, more of a majority in the Senate.  The BBB will confirm the Trump tax cuts of his first term and cut welfare, the Democrats are fighting this with simple point that 3 trillion will be added to the National Debt.  This should be a red line to real Conservatives, but not Trump's Republicans, the US voters will see if he Trump can master Congress like FDR, LBJ, Reagan, Clinton, Bush 43, Obama, even the semi senile Biden. The Russians are backers of the Assad Regime, in this they are supported by Iran, another rogue nation.  In historical terms Syria was an interest of France in the 20th Century, ever since the Soviet Era Russia has been a Assad backer in the time of the Assad senior and has backed his son.  The Russians have two naval bases in Syria, Putin will not want to lose them, it has been estimated that Putin has lost six hundred thousand men in the Ukraine War, this might be the reason it has not stopped the offensive by rebels to the Assad Regime, when supposed Super Powers cannot support a small ally it is curtains for them, you can say the same for US and Afghanistan under President Biden, Syria was a major failure for President Obama when Assad used chemical weapons on his own people , or the Ukraine when Trump47 comes in to power.  The Kremlin are getting its people out before the  offensive reaches Damascus or it could be PR by Putin as he might send in Russian troops if he has them to counter the Islamic Offensive.  The West  must wait to see and hope for the best.

The American voters is tired of the celebrity run campaign of the VP, they want her to do tough interviews, she is running the 2020 campaign of POTUS, in that campaign Biden was hidden in his home bunker, the press covered for him due to the fact they hated Trump and of course it was the period of COVID - 19.   They want to know more about the VP, they think they were sold a con in 2020, if the election had been a typical election one does wonder if Biden would have been elected.  There are reports that former President Barack Obama will do a weeks campaign for her, its late and you cannot transfer charisma, political class acts like Obama do not like  to share the stage, Obama was the first African - American President, now  if Harris is elected, his achievement will not be that special.   The Wars in the Middle East could damage the Harris run, the Biden line is to support Israel, even if he cannot stand the Israeli PM, its mutual, it might effect the ethnic vote in the Swing States.  Former President Trump is on the side of Israel.  An interesting few weeks ahead.   This blog is keeping to the projection that Harris will win.

It seems that the Senate Democrats cannot count, they do not have the votes to get rid of the filibuster or to make major changes to it, Manchin has spoken, it is not going to happen, the West Virginian Senator wants co-operation with the Republicans, the Senator is right to be concerned, the Democrats could be in the minority after the Mid Terms, who cuts off their own legs for just short term base gain.  The Democrats have to remember, BIDEN is no LBJ or Bill Clinton, he cannot get BBB over the line, Obama got ObamaCare through at the cost of losing the Congress, Biden poll numbers are in the toilet and going down the to sewers, he might not have to think about running in 2024, his polls could be so BAD that he withdraws fearing what a LOSS would be like to his legacy.  The Democrats should be looking at smaller packages that have the support of Manchin not looking to the base that is FAR LEFT and not in the middle of America. Politics is about counting after all.

Thus " President " Manchin has ended the Biden domestic agenda on the HILL, the Senator has been very CLEAR over the holiday period, he has had enough of talking about BBB, its dead as a dodo.  The Biden Oval has shown that it is no FDR with the New Deal, or LBJ with the Great Society or Ronald Reagan with his tax cuts or Bill Clinton with the boom years of the late 1990s.  The Biden Oval should look to refresh his domestic agenda staff, they have let him down, they pushed the Senator to his wits end, they didn't get the fact that the Senate is 50/50, this is not like the large majorities that FDR or LBJ had, also Biden cannot cut it on the Hill.  One does hope that Biden does a  better job in foreign affairs, for the sake of us all.

One does wonder if a former top adviser to President Obama, would write this if not having been given approval by the former POTUS.  This blog has noticed that on CNN David Axelrod has been more critical of the former VP than other guests, sometimes he is the only one who can bring a CNN panel back to earth with the political reality.   It did come as surprise to this blog that President Obama did not want Biden to run in 2016, he thought that HRC had a better chance of winning the White House, its shows that the political skill of Obama is pretty much about himself, at least the Great Reagan helped get his VP elected in 1988.   Does Obama want a different candidate to Biden, a younger, ethnic candidate, and that does not include Senator Warren.  How many gaffes can Biden get away with before his numbers being to fall.

Is POTUS worried that HIS economy will go down the tubes next year, he has been claiming the success in the economy is down to his being in the Oval Office, if things go wrong, the unemployment rate goes back up, the Dow Jones crashes, the buck will stop at his door.  Already Trump is trying to shift the blame to the US Central Bank, the Democrats can use the issue, if they select the right Nominee, in this case Joe Biden, he is the moderate in the field, even though Reagan called him a smooth demagogue in his Diaries.   Biden can run on the success of the Obama/Biden team when it came to the economy, from the Great Recession to the good state of the economy by 2016.   It should be noted that CNN has been getting Republicans on who might challenge Trump in 2020, it should be noted that when LBJ was challenged in 1968 he withdrew from the race, could Trump be a one term President, he would hate to be a one term President, he would hate it more to be a defeated one term President.

The 2nd Debate was good for Biden, he fought back, he took on Harris and Booker, it can be said that Booker earned his ticket to stay in the race.  Senator Booker took on Biden when it came to his support of the 1994 Crime Bill and others crime bills from the 1970s and 1980s.   The former VP shot back that the Booker record as Mayor was not that great, that he had to be sued by the ACLU to reform his police department.  The main fight that this blog remembered was the fight between Senator Harris and Tulsi Gabbard over the record of Harris as Attorney General of California, the Congresswoman pointed out that Harris allowed a prisoner to stay on death row when the prisoner should have been removed, that she allowed prisoners to be kept in jail when they should have been released as a form of cheap labour, also she went after pot smokers while laughing when asked if she had ever smoked pot.  The attack was so detailed this blog thinks that the Biden Camp released the info to her, as it allowed Harris to be taken down a bit, while not having the fingerprints of the Biden Campaign on the issue  . What was also interesting for this blog is how Biden threw Obama under the bus when it came to the Obama surge in Afghanistan in the first term, he stated that he was against that.  This is not new, the then Defence Secretary Robert Gates stated that Biden as VP, undercut the Afghan policy at every stage.   Thus far this blog has not seen that mentioned by other comments on the debate.   One can assume that Barack Obama will not be happy that his VP threw him under the bus when it came to such an important foreign policy approach.

Is there any ending to the Trump EGO, he shuns the old friends of the US and bends over backwards to be nice to President Putin of Russia and the North Korea leader.   On the whole American Presidents do not do a Soviet Style celebration of themselves, they celebrate the meaning of the US and its armed forces, while this the Trump EVENT is about celebrating himself.   One can bet that the footage will be used in 2020 Election.   One's opinion of Lord North ( PM doing the American Revolution ) and Richard Nixon, ( President from 1969 - 1974 ) has gone up.  One's view of Trump never high has gone down the toilet, the most egoistical President in US history, when Americans elected Trump they lost the PLOT, depending if they ever understood the plot, the last great Presidents were Ronald Reagan, and Barack Obama for being the first African - American President.   On this 4th of July thank goodness that President Trump is not our problem.

The above shows how bad the decision by POTUS was when it comes to Iran, the day that Biden can look tough makes for a very mixed up World. It should be noted as it was by Obama's first Defence Secretary Robert Gates that while Vice President to President Obama, Biden tried on numerous occasions to thwart Obama's surge in Afghanistan. The surge was not helped when Obama stated when the end of date of the surge would be, thus telling the enemy just to wait in till the US left Afghanistan. As noted in previous posts by this blog, the Republicans were seen as the Party of national security, the appeasement of Iran by Trump makes the modern Republican Party look like the Conservatives who in the 1930s supported the appeasement policy of the National Government under Neville Chamberlain. It is interesting how CNN types and Democrats who placed so much trust in US intelligence when it comes to Russia, suddenly as starting to blame the Trump White House for the tensions in the Persian Gulf.  It seems that the political and media elite only trust the information from US intelligence when it agrees with their world mindset.   The Democrats are showing that they have NO BACKBONE for action when it comes to IRAN, this is being picked up by Tehran, they are hoping that the history of the Iraq War will make the Democrats call for Trump to back off.   This present tensions in the Middle East show how weak the US is lead and by the weakness of Democrats when it comes to national security.  At least President Obama was the Godfather of drones, as he stated it was his strong suit to kill terrorists, one does wonder if he will say that his memoirs, hardly very LIBERAL.   As for Iran tensions, Tehran fearing a Trump White House might do a deal as wanted by President Trump, the Democrats would look very WEAK if that happens.

If IRAN was a REAL DEMOCRACY and secular then a deal could be done by the US and Iran, but since the religious order have the final say the events in the Middle East could lead to a WAR.   The religious factions that control Iran know that if they did a deal on their nuclear structure they face been overthrown by the young generation of Iran.  One always hears that the majority of the population is young, and born after the revolution, well one day they will have had enough, of living under a religious theocracy that suppress the individual will and only holds on to power by having a ruthless elite and supporting terrorists in the region.  One such group is in Lebanon and poses a threat to Israel, while IRAN has its own forces in Syria, these could attack US forces, also Iran could stop oil going to the West.  If the Tehran Regime become a THREAT to Western Oil, one can postulate that the Trump Oval would be more than happy to take out the Government in IRAN.   The growing tensions in the region could lead to a regional war, with Israel, Saudi Arabia on the side of the US against Iran.   If there is a WAR, it would place the Democrats in a bind, are they going to oppose Trump while US troops could be fighting Tehran, and will former VP, Joe Biden want to restore the nuclear deal between the UN and Iran, he could face awkward questions in run up to 2020.

At least Obama has not been negative, in 1960 a reporter asked Ike what Nixon has done in the White House as Vice - President, the former General was very blunt, he told him that it would take 7 days to think of answer to that question.  It has been noticeable that Obama has been quiet with his former Vice - President about to enter the Democratic Presidential race, the former VP has called himself a Obama/Biden Democrat, whatever that means.   As a practice former Presidents not speakout when their Party is going through a nomination process, thus President Obama wants to see Biden win on his own and then support him.  But the allegations that Biden touched women but not in a sexual way has been the main Democratic news headline over the past few days, one would have thought that Obama would have said something in public, just a few seconds on how nice and fun his former VP is, or that Biden will learn from his mistakes, silence gives the impression that Obama does not want to be connected to someone who might LOSE the nomination.   If you expect political loyalty from a Chicago pol then you are in the wrong business.

POTUS has just been cleared by the Mueller Report and by the US Attorney General, NOW POTUS is not taking a rest, he is back in the arena, the Trump Administration has asked a FEDERAL COURT to revoke ObamaCare.  One doubts that a Court will throw millions off healthcare, there would be an outcry, the case will end up in the Supreme Court.   This could cause a problem for the Chief Justice, the law survived last time due to the Chief Justice, as he made it a TAX.   The removal of the tax could make the law illegal, thus will Chief Justice Roberts try something new to save the law or will he vote with his conservative colleagues to overthrow the law.  If this does happen the President and the Congress will have to think hard about developing a new system as to allow those with a pre - existing condition to get medical over.   This could be the BIG FIGHT for 2020, once you give a benefit to people it's hard to take it back.
