The New York Times: Reports " Control of Palmyra gives the Islamic State command of roads leading from its strongholds in eastern Syria to Damascus and the other major cities of the populated west, as well as new links to western Iraq, the other half of its self-declared caliphate. "
Lets Get Real:
Thus the question what will the US and its Allies do about Palmyra, the answer NOTHING, the Obama Oval is weak, it would have to reverse years of policy to do something NOW, the Oval would have to admit that it was wrong in 2011 when it removed ALL troops from Iraq, as this allowed for the growth of IS in Syria and Iraq. The Oval Office wants to hand over the issue of IS to its successor, of course by then it will be worse, one has to question will Obama defend Baghdad if he as too, is he willing to allow IS to take OVER all of Iraq as the cost of not using US ground troops. The failure of the Obama Oval when it comes to Syria and Iraq will be a major issue of the 2016 Presidential election, when the new President takes over he or she will have a lot to deal with when they reach the Oval Office, the damage will have been done by a weak US President.
