The Special Relationship, BBC 2 9.30pm Tonight

The New York Times: The Special Relationship was shown in the US a few months ago, here the liberal NYT review of the programme. Tony Blair is not that popular with the liberal New York Times, thus his faults are seen with staring with his push for ground troops in Kosovo, thus his close relationship with another hated figure by the extreme liberal NYT, have a guess?, yes Bush 43. Mr Blair will have to accept that the media elite in both the US and the UK will never forgive him for Iraq, Bush 43 in a odd way gets away with it, Bush is Bush, never hid the fact that he was not a liberal. The right will always defend Bush 43, when it’s a choice of Obama or Bush 43 this blog will always argue for Bush 43, flawed but so was LBJ, didn’t make them not good Presidents. While Tony Blair does not have the left, and the right thought he spent to much on the public sector, thus the present economic problems in the UK. Thus Iraq was a Blair choice, he was given a get out clause by Bush 43, he didn’t take it, thus the former PM will have to live with the consequences.

Gallup Poll - Obama 48% Disapproval

Gallup: Reports on its latest daily tracking poll, it seems even after 9/11 anniversary Obama didn’t get a bounce from events, the latest poll has Obama on 48% disapproval, while 45% approve of the Obama’s performance as President. This is not good for Democrats running in the 2010 Mid Term Elections, they dont want to see their political careers finished due to Obama. All the Obama promises from his stimulus to health care have failed to work for the Democrats. Thus if you’re a moderate or conservative Democrat you bail on the White House and push for the Bush 43 tax cuts to be extended for all not just the Middle Class, Obama wont veto the move he does not have the nerve, also the Hill could overturn his veto, politics is brutal go ask Jimmy Carter Mr President.

Brothers at WAR - The Miliband Brothers

Guardian: Reports how the Campaigns of the Miliband Brothers, David and Ed are at War, how David is seen as the heir to Tony Blair while Ed Miliband is seen as a thrown back to pre New Labour, in the pockets of the Trade Unions. This fight could make the Blair vs. Brown fight look like friendly, when it comes to family war its gets nasty. One can postulate that only one Miliband Brother has a political future after the Labour Leadership Election. If Ed Miliband defeats David then one can see David Miliband returning to the backbenches, could he really serve under his younger brother! If David Miliband wins can he really give an important job to his brother!! Thus the winner of the election will have a future while the loser will need to find a new career.

Carter vs. Kennedy

Fox News: Reports on the release of the Jimmy Carter Diaries, and how President Carter felt the nomination challenge by Senator Edward M. Kennedy hurt him in his fight against Ronald Reagan. Lets hope President Obama reads this article and what can happen to failed one term Presidents. Carter was a disaster as President from the economy to foreign affairs, it took Reagan as President to return the US to greatness.

Sovereign Debt DEFAULT = Republic of Ireland ?

Telegraph: Reports on the worry that the Ireland will go belly up and will not be able to pay its debts like Iceland and will need to be bailed out by the IMF. Lets gets it straight folks, the Western European Countries are broke, Ireland, UK, Spain, Italy, the welfare state is a cancer to the system, the welfare state from the NHS down does not create profit or jobs, that was the problem with the Blair/Brown years, New Labour just spent and spent, when the crash came the money had run out, the welfare state from the NHS to benefits just grown each year, there comes a point when it has to end, not welfare but its structure, why should those that leave school at 16 or 18 get any benefits, why should one parent families that grown when on benefits get any extra benefits, why should the welfare state be the best and better option for a lot of younger people. The UK Government has a debt of around 156 billion that has to be rolled back, this will take drastic measures, even eye watering measures, if the Trade Unions go on strike then sack them, employ those out of work, President Reagan sacked Air Traffic Controllers when they went on strike, it takes that kind of toughness, Lady Thatcher would not compromise with the NUM or any other trade union. The good years are over folks, the UK voter and the voters of Western Europe should get that fact or it will be tears before bedtime.

Troubled Waters ? = Liberal Democrats Conference

BBC News: Reports that the annual Liberal Democrats Conference will start today, the DPM Nick Clegg expects a rough ride at the conference due to the public spending cuts that will be announced in October. This is the real test for Nick Clegg and the Lib Dems, if they can hold their nerve then they have a chance of showing the UK voter that they could be the successor Party to New Labour, if they fall apart they will be a laughing stock, this is the time to show a tough side, not some Lib Dems weak side.
