Generic Mid Term Ballot - RCP Republicans 7.8% Lead

RCP: Reports on its averages of the generic polls for the 2010 Mid Term Elections, as of now the average of the polls is as follows, Republicans 49.8% and the Democrats on 42.0%, a Republican lead of 7.8%. Thus the VIEWS prediction, between 60-65 wins for the Republicans in the House, a 51 - 49 Democratic Senate, but it could be close folks, depends on how good the ground operation is in different States and Districts. Well at least we can start to think about 2012 after November 3rd. Views so far is not supporting any Republican Candidates, lets see if the Republicans can produce another Ronald Reagan.

LOSING the NYT

The New York Times: Ms Dowd puts the knife in to the Obama Presidency, Dowd writes the following, “ His arrogance led him to assume: If I build it, they will understand….an unwillingness to be wrong. ”. If POTUS cant keep the LIBERAL NYT then he is heading from being the 1st Dude to ex 1st Dude, it could be that the bloated and liberal NYT can smell the coffee they don’t want to be stuck with a loser, expect more favourable articles about Secretary Hillary Clinton, they might even push her to run in 2012, they don’t want a Republican President, and what would be worse a woman Republican President from Alaska. How the mighty have fallen, the Oval needs a Nancy Reagan, any one that can bring Obama to reality.

Democrats OPPOSE POTUS in 2012

Mail on Sunday: Reports that 47% of Democrats want POTUS challenged from within the Democratic Party. Lets recall that both in 1976 and 1980 sitting US Presidents faced a hard challenge from within their own Parties, President Ford faced Ronald Reagan and President faced Senator Edward M. Kennedy, after winning the nominations both Presidents lost to the opposing Party. Also it should be recalled that Senator Kennedy was pushed to run by those on the Hill who didn’t want to lose their Seats, if the Obama poll ratings are bad in 2012 expect a more centre candidate to challenge Obama, if a challenger can win Iowa and New Hampshire Obama might be forced out, LBJ won in NH in 68 but it was hollow victory thus his refusal to run in 1968. It call comes down the economy folks, in 1984 Reagan had an economic boom, thus he beat Walter Mondale by 49 States to 1, also Clinton after losing the Congress in 1994 moved to the centre and won in 1996. Its early folks but the 2012 race starts on the November 3rd, that’s the fun of US politics is always an election period.

Gingers United vs. Labour

Guardian: Reports on the personal attack by the Deputy Leader of the Labour Party Harriet Harman on Danny Alexander a Treasury Minister and a Liberal Democrat, Ms Harman called Mr Alexander a Ginger Rodent. Ms PC herself has gotten her knickers in right twist, how can you have a grown up conversation with the Labour Party when they go in for personal attacks, all Gingers should be up in arms, this anti Ginger attack shows that Gingers face discrimination from the Elites, from nicknames to attacks by a Labour Leader, let the Labour Party censure Ms PC Harman, lets see Labour MAN UP to the Elite who attack individuals based on their hair colour, what next their skin colour?, WE ARE NOT AMUSED!!

The REAL World and the Mid Term Elections

Telegraph: Reports on the problems facing President Obama in the 2010 Mid Term Elections, the article states the following, “ …Democrats are denying links to Obama, running away from their votes for health care reform and conveniently leaving their party affiliation off their election literature…”. Thus what will November 3rd look like for the Oval, well one can predict that the Oval will face a Republican House, it would not surprise this blog if the Republicans take between 60 and 65 Seats in the House, also depends on the wave in the Senate, the Republicans could try and persuade the Conservative Senators that the best way to keep their Seats is to move to the Republicans, do they want to defend ObamaCare in their Conservative States. The Oval will have to learn to be pragmatic, just like Reagan and Clinton the Obama Oval will have to cut deals or the Hill will be frozen after November 3rd. The question is can President Obama move to the centre, does have the flexibility to understand the result, or will he state that he just needs to explain health care one more time to thick Americans. Thus still keeping to my early prediction that Obama wont run in 2012 or will lose by 49 States, in many respects Obama echoes LBJ, he liked to be loved and when that love by the voter went he went in March 1968. Does Obama have the inner dude to change, or is so left he cant see beyond his own press statements.

Death in Afghanistan

MOD: Reports that a UK Soldier was killed on Saturday in Afghanistan, the Soldier was from the “ 101 (City of London ) Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) serving with the Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Task Force ”. Thus since 2001 the UK has lost 342 of its Armed Forces Personnel in Afghanistan, of that total it has lost 302 in combat operations and 40 due to illness, accidents or other incidents.

Mid Term Generic Congressional Polls

RCP: Reports on its Average of the generic congressional polls, the RCP has the following, Republicans 48.8% and the Democrats 42.8% a Republican lead of 6.0%. Thus the question that has to be asked will the present terror alert help President Obama, all things are political folks, depends how the President deals with this terror alert, if he gives the impression that he will deal with these terrorists cells in Yemen in a harsh manner that might help on the margins of close House Seats, any show of weakness of any kind and it could be a disaster, the next couple of hours and days will be interesting folks, this is really up to POTUS, the C in C of the US Armed Forces, does he have the ability to be a JFK or Reagan and not himself, is he just another weak Jimmy Carter

Leaving the Sinking Ship - House Democrats

Time: Reports that Liberal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi could retire if the Democrats lose the House to the Republicans in November. One has to wonder how many top Democrats will get jobs in the Obama White House, the poor foot soldiers who voted for ObamaCare will be in the cold of defeat and without a job. One has to wonder why Democrats don’t learn, are they just thick, the Clinton Presidency is not that long ago, in 1994 Bill Clinton lost the House after nearly half a Century of Democratic rule, the issue was health care reform, one would think that Democrats in the House would have learnt to say no to a young Democratic President. This blog has no sympathy for stupid politicians, they allowed themselves to be rolled by Obama/Pelosi who do not care about conservative and moderate Democrats, these Congressmen/women should have bailed on Obama but they allowed his extreme Liberal Agenda to pass, thus they pay the price, lets hope its cold losing.

9/11 and the Bush 43

Guardian: Reports on leaks from the Presidential memoir of Bush 43, the article reports Bush 43 thought his order to shoot down suspected hijacked planes had lead to the shooting down of Flight 93 on 9/11. These are the kind of tough decisions that only a President can take, in the case of Flight 93 the heroic passengers took on the terrorists which lead to their deaths but the saving of thousands of others in the Capitol. It will be interesting to see from the UK perspective how Tony Blair was seen in the Bush 43 Oval, how much influence did he have over Bush 43, also what the President thinks of the War in Afghanistan and the success in Iraq. It will be interesting to see how much influence Bush 41 had over his son, did they discuss Iraq War before 2003 invasion, cant wait to read this memoir.

The White House and the Terror Alert

Here is the White House reaction to the Terror Alert:

“ Last night, intelligence and law enforcement agencies discovered potential suspicious packages on two planes in transit to the United States. Based on close cooperation among U.S. government agencies and with our foreign allies and partners, authorities were able to identify and examine two suspicious packages, one in London and one in Dubai. Both of these packages originated from Yemen. As a result of security precautions triggered by this threat, the additional measures were taken regarding the flights at Newark Liberty and Philadelphia International Airports. The President was notified of a potential terrorist threat on Thursday night at 10:35, by John Brennan, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counter-terrorism. The President directed U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies, and the Department of Homeland Security, to take steps to ensure the safety and security of the American people, and to determine whether these threats are a part of any additional terrorist plotting. The President has received regular updates from his national security team since he was alerted to the threat. ”

Lets hope President Obama is more connected to the process than he was during the Christmas bombing scare, that was not his finest hour!

Obama 44% Approval - Gallup

Gallup: Reports on its latest Poll on President Obama in the last weekend before the 2010 Mid Term Congressional Elections, this Friday President Obama has a 44% Approval rating, while 49% Disapprove of the Job performance of the 1st Dude. What ever possessed President Obama to go on to comedy chat show, can you see Ronald Reagan doing that, yes Richard Nixon appeared on a 60s comedy show but that was before he become President. The one thing that Politician must prevent is being laugh at, a comedy show can either go two ways, the audience will either laugh with you or at you, the clips show a arrogant President out of his depth, the US voter wants some regal aspects to the President, thus the charge thrown at Reagan by Liberals that Reagan was a bad PM but a great King, thus Kings don’t do comedy shows, Reagan was a natural wit so he could use comedy to undercut some of the attacks on him, Obama does not take well to critical comment, before Obama went to the Studio the Press Secretary should have made sure the Office of the President was respected, thus no dude jokes, does not help President Obama, if Obama wants a second term he should not look at Bill Clinton who won with 49% vote in 1996 but Reagan who won with 59%. Obama is NO Liberal Reagan, he is just a Chicago dude who got lucky in 2008 sad to say.

Terrorism Alert in the UK and US, Real, Dry Run or PR Stunt

BBC News: Reports on the terrorist alerts in the US and the UK, the alerts concern airport cargo traffic and packages sent from Yemen. Thus far no packages have shown that they are explosive in nature, but its early, thus the question is this a real terrorist threat, a dry run for a future operation or a PR stunt before the 2010 Mid Term Elections. It is a matter at looking at the dots, are they linked, are packages form one country, are they explosive, was the intelligence a set up to draw the intelligence networks to show how they would react to such an operation, so far so good for the good guys, all the known packages have been taken in custody, no deaths or injuries so far reported. One has to ask, is this a PR stunt by Al Qaeda before the 2010 Mid Term Congressional Elections, it could be if the suspect packages turn out not to be bombs, its still early folks, but the Intelligence networks of the UK and the US have shown they are on the case.

The OLD NEW Great Game - West and Russia and Afghanistan

Fox News: Reports that Russia could become an active partner in the NATO war in Afghanistan from the training of Afghan Security Forces to allowing NATO to use Russian soil for the transfer of military equipment. One has to wonder sometimes what goes on in the mind of the political and military elite, how are the Afghans expected to react, they will think this the West and Russia playing a new version of Great Game with Afghanistan as pawns of the American Eagle and the Russia Bear. Also the price for Russia help will also to be high, if your Poland or the Czech Republic you must wonder if Obama is going to sell them out even further, force them to accept Russian troops, one has to wonder, Obama sold these countries out over missile defence and got nothing for it, the Russian Bear does not think much of weakness. If POTUS goes through with this plan he will face a backlash in Afghanistan from his Afghan Allies, they will think that they are being sold down the river to the Russians, it the terrorist insurgents will use the PR to show that there is no difference between the West and Russia. The Eastern Europe States will wonder who else Obama will sell out, also in the US Obama could face political counter attack from those who think that he bows and says sorry to much to the enemy of the US present or former. President Obama really wants to be a one term President, that can only be the reason for this foolish idea.

HACKED by Liberals ?

Had shock today folks, told that My Space page had been hacked, it has to be Liberals, how low can Liberals go, or left wingers, they tried to block this blog and say it was spam, it seems that the only intolerant people beside Al Qaeda are Liberals. They cant stand people who have a different view from the mob mind set, how come its only Conservatives that believe in free speech.

Health Reform and the Mid Term Elections

The New York Times: Reports how Democratic Candidates in the Mid Term Elections are been forced on the back foot due the passing of ObamaCare. This is a fun article folks as its shows how unpopular ObamaCare is with Democrats that the Liberal NYT can only name one Democrat that supports ObamaCare on the whole. That’s the problem when you have something like the bloated LIBERAL NYT, they can not understand how the rest of the country does not support their world view, extreme liberal big government and love putting up taxes.

Lord Mandelson, Coalition Government vs. Ed Miliband and Labour

The Daily Mail: Reports that the Dark Prince Lord Mandelson has supported the polices of the Coalition Government when it comes to cutting the debt and its welfare reform. Also warned the new Labour Leader Ed Miliband not to ditch the centre ground, in other words New Labour. The Dark Prince did support David Miliband for the Labour Leadership and was quite critical of Ed Miliband when the election was on, so the question that has to be asked is what is Lord Mandelson up too, is he after a job in the Coalition Government, that would be interesting, it would show in many respects that the one of the founders of New Labour had given up on the Labour Party, would Lord Mandelson do that without the okay of Tony Blair. Or is this an attempt by Blair, Mandelson, Campbell using Mandelson as the front man as a subtle warning to Ed Miliband not to throw New Labour under the bus as they are not his brother and will fight back, not sure you want to get in to a knife fight with Blair, Mandelson and Campbell IF they are up to something, it’s a big IF of course, prefer the cynic when thinking about New Labour and Labour, saves time folks.

Obama vs. Israel and the Middle East

Guardian: Reports on the Obama Policy when it comes to Israel and the long term policy of the creation of a State for the people of Palestine. The Article states the following on President Obama, “ A president who was inaugurated amid great hopes……has seen his stock tumble in the intervening 21 months. ”. If after the November 2nd Elections the Republicans take the House and reach parity with the Democrats in the Senate the Obama policy of having any real influence over Israel is over, if Obama tries to place pressure on Israel to grant concessions to the Palestinians the Government of Israel will use its major influence on the Hill to overrule any Obama sanctions against Israel. Even the Liberal Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi stated that when it came to Israel the Democrats and Republicans had once voice and that voice was not President Obama. Thus the Oval might find that it is boxed in on the domestic and international front, it will be a different world for President Obama after November 2nd.

Echoes of the Cold War - Gorbachev on Afghanistan

BBC News: Reports that the former President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev has stated the West cant win in Afghanistan and that President Obama is right to start to withdraw troops in 2011. On whole this blog respects the opinions of President Gorbachev, without him and Ronald Reagan the Cold War could still be on, but on this subject the President is wrong, the War in Afghanistan in 2010 is not the War in Afghanistan of the 1980s. The one major difference is that Pakistan is a nuclear armed power, if Afghanistan falls to the Taliban again, then the Taliban of Pakistan will have a base to attack the Government of Pakistan. A Taliban Regime with a nuclear armed missile can not be tolerated, it would place the World on the threat of a nuclear war, thus Afghanistan is not the point, yes the War in Afghanistan has echoes of the Vietnam War, corrupt Government, a terrorist insurgency that his being funded by Iran, in the case of the Viet Cong by North Vietnam, but Afghanistan is not the prize its Pakistan. All means have to used to keep Pakistan stable, it can be argued that President Gorbachev is fighting the War of the Past.

The HOUSE Republican ?

RCP - House: Reports on its latest prediction for the House of Representatives, in its latest projection the Republicans will have 223 seats, five seats over the 218 needed to take the House, the Democrats would be on 179 seats and there are 33 seats that could go either way. This blog predicts that the Republicans will take between 50 and 65 Seats in the House, this is not breaking news, this is the range that most other webs sites have stated, if the Republicans can take between 70 and 100 then it’s a new ball game, they will be tea party candidates, they will not want to play ball with the Oval, it will be tough even with the lower figure but over 70 and the Obama will have to show that he is a real political operator, they have no interest in giving the Oval any victories. Interesting few weeks ahead folks.

Tony Blair and Iraq - Back in the Public Dock!

Guardian: Reports that former Labour PM Tony Blair will be recalled to give evidence to the Iraq inquiry, the Guardian states the following for the recall, “ concerned about damaging and conflicting evidence revealed since former PM's last appearance ”. It seems that the concern is that Mr Blair gave US President his green light for invasion after being told that the lawyers within the Blair Government had great concern about the legality of the War. One could postulate that the Iraqi Inquiry is going to hang Mr Blair out to dry, it seems the public want a political sacrifice, as Mr Blair is out of power and has been dumped on by the new Labour Leader Ed Miliband it seems that Mr Blair is the easy target to be thrown to the wolves. Would advice Mr Blair to watch his back when he returns to the Inquiry or even better give it a miss, either way he will be thrown to wolves, that is the price the Establishment wants to bury the Iraq War.

“ Shove It ” President Obama - And that is a Democrat!

Telegraph: Reports that a Democrat running to be Governor of Rhode Island has told President Obama to “ Shove It” that being his political endorsement. This is a curious case that shows the arrogance of President Obama, the leader of the Democratic Party wont endorse the Democratic nominee due to the fact that the his challenger is a former Republican colleague of his in the US Senate, the Colleague is running as an Independent in the race and in the last poll has a 7% lead. Since the dawn of political time there has been a friendship between members of different political parties, at leas the opposition wont stab you in the back, unlike your suppose colleagues. But this shows President Obama does not understand modern American politics, the leader gives his nod the Democratic nominee even if he hates his/her guts, loathes him/her, the sole exception if the candidate has been arrested or faces a major trial, and this does not arise in this case, other Democratic Candidates will ask can the Oval be trusted in a tight spot, Obama could face a nomination challenge in 2012, he needs the Democratic Party at his back, if you’re a Democrat do you trust Obama after Rhode Island.

The Economy and the Mid Term Electins

Gallup: Has interesting polls on the economy a few days before the 2010 Mid Term Congressional Elections in the US, when asked their economic conditions voters stated the following, Poor 42% and Excellent/Good 14%. On the economic outlook voters stated the following, Getting Worse 58% and Getting Better 35%. The Obama Agenda could be dead on the Hill after November due to the economic fears of the voters, they see the Obama spending and they fear for their future jobs prospects and the prospects for their families. Will be interesting to match the above with the actual vote in such states as Ohio, states that have been hit hard by the economic recession, POTUS needs Ohio in 2012, Obama has been so many times to Ohio he should rent a house, it would save on the costs of visits. Also it would make for good PR, it would show that POTUS was in touch with the voters, could see the recession every day.

Mid Term Polls

RCP: Reports on its Average of the generic polls for Mid Term Congressional Elections, the Parties stand at the following, Republicans 49.1% and Democrats 41.6%, a Republican lead of 7.7%. This kind of swing would give the Republicans a good working majority in the House and close to parity with the Democrats in the Senate. Thus the question is what will POTUS do, can he get beyond his own ideological agenda, can see that the US is to his right. The success of Reagan and Clinton was their ability to be pragmatic, to deal with real world of politics, Reagan would rent votes in the House for deals in local districts that benefited the Congressman, very much like LBJ. Clinton could see that the centre had moved to the right thus followed an Agenda that most moderate or even Conservative Republicans could support, its called being a good politician, even if Reagan just called himself an ex Actor and not a politician. Thus my political advice to POTUS, give the Republicans the Bush 43 tax cuts they want, they might be able to over ride a Presidential veto of tax cuts to all, also start to fight your base, the voters wont take President Obama as a serious politician unless he takes on his base, thus he should tell his base that he will reform ObamaCare, that the US will stay and win in Afghanistan, that there is no more money for government jobs. This just might get POTUS re-elected in 2012, no guarantees but it better than being another Jimmy Carter.

Iran and Afghanistan - Obama Administration

Fox News: Reports that the Chief of Staff to President Karzai of Afghanistan is being bribed by Iran to push the interests of Iran. The Obama Administration can not afford to lose Afghanistan to Iran, in Iraq Tehran is pulling the strings for the new government, the power of Iran comes from the fact that it is expected to become a nuclear armed power with next couple of years. As Obama was anti Iraq War he has allowed Iraq to fall in to clutches of Iran, with Afghanistan it was meant to be the good war, it was the war the Democrats wanted to fight in 2008. Its is 2011 that is important to Obama’s Foreign Policy, by the end of 2011 the US will be out of Iraq, the question is will Iraq become a puppet of Iran or will Iraqi nationalism come to the fore, thus making Iraq more neutral in the cold war between Iran and the US. Also in 2011 President Obama has stated that the US will start to withdraw troops from Afghanistan, this statement was made to keep the left wing of the Democratic Party happy, the problem is if your poor Afghan are you going to put your head on the line in a literal sense to support NATO forces when you hear the US President state that he wants out of Afghanistan, don’t have to be that bright to answer that question. The point of Afghanistan is not AFGHANISTAN, it is Pakistan, both Pakistan and India are nuclear armed powers, it would be a disaster for the West if the Taliban of Pakistan take over Pakistan, the West would have invade Pakistan, it would be to much of a threat, thus to keep Pakistan stable the West has to win in Afghanistan. The badlands of the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan is the safe heaven for the terrorists, if they have a secure base in Afghanistan they could topple the Government of Pakistan. Thus President Obama is about to find out if he is the brightest person in the room, can he secure Afghanistan, withdraw troops and not lose Pakistan to the Taliban, either the brightest or a dud, those are the choices, and your cant use the race card on Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Coalition Government and the House of Lords

Mail on Sunday: Reports that Coalition PM and Conservative Leader David Cameron and his Deputy Nick Clegg, leader of the Liberal Democrats will place 44 new members in the House of Lords to prevent defeat by Labour. The Conservative and Lib Dems won the election thus they have the right to pack the House of Lords with those that will support the Government, also this makes sure the Lords will never be reformed, when the spending cuts really hurt the Coalition Government is not going to reform the Upper House in to an elected body as this would give the Labour Party a chance to veto laws it can not stop in the House of Commons. Thus is pure politics 101, you don’t shoot yourself in the foot!

Women = Republican

Guardian: Reports in the equal split in the female vote between the Democrats and the Republican in House voting patterns, how the once Democratic base has split between political parties. This is why Democrats are in trouble in 2010, the usual Democratic tactic is to say that Republicans will outlaw abortion, well it has not happened yet, also there has been a growing move by females voters against abortion, the old fear tactic by Democrats might just be counter productive, one sometimes gets the impression that Democrats are still fighting elections of the 20th Century, not wanting to get the fact that its 21st Century and people change, it will be interesting on election night to see the how the female votes goes, and how this effects different races.

The New Peter Mandelson = David Laws

Telegraph: Reports that the former Chief secretary to the Treasury David Laws could make a return to the Coalition Government by Christmas if he does not get a severe rebuke due to his expenses claims. Lets recall Mr Laws is a leading Liberal Democrat and comes from a business background in the City, his term is office was the shortest on record just 17 days. Mr Laws is held in high regard by both the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats, thus if the rebuke and considering the facts the rebuke should be mild, one can see Mr Laws back in the Coalition Government, being a very effective Cabinet Minister.

Obama 43% Approval - Gallup

Gallup: Reports on its latest daily tracking poll for President Obama, on Sunday the President is on 43% Approval and 48% Disapproval. This is not good for the Democrats heading in to the 2010 Mid Term Congressional Elections, Reagan in 1982 lost 28 House Seats, while Clinton in 1994 lost the House to the Republicans. Thus the best outcome for the Oval would be to lose around 26-30 seats but still keep control of the House, the worse outcome would be to lose the House and the Senate, a half victory would be to lose the House but keep the Senate and win a few Governorships in key states for 2012.

The Age of Austerity - Coalition ATTACKS Critics

BBC News: Reports that DPM Nick Clegg the leader of the Liberal Democrats has stated that critics of the Government spending cuts are not telling the truth as to whom gets hit harder. When you cut welfare you hit the poor, lets not hide the truth, when you cut child benefit for the rich, in the Government scale that is about forty four thousand, it does not have the same effect when you hit the poor, the rich cant have an extra holiday or a weekend break, the poor cant eat, there is a difference is effect and scale. But lets be very clear the Coalition Government under PM David Cameron is doing the right thing, cuts are always going to hurt, but lets be clear and honest, there are always going to be poor people, the idea that Government can change nature and history is very Star Trek but not the real world, under New Labour social mobility was worse than in the 1950s, you cant chance civic society, you can cushion the effects, but just cushion, yes poor people will hurt, no one wants that but we have to live in the real world, the UK is broke, BROKE, we can afford it, it can be argued that the UK should not give any money to poor countries, its better to spend on our own NHS, Education and those on welfare. These are cold days folks, Guardian types voted for Tony Blair and we got the Iraq War, thus their views don’t hold much water and they should not, we need to return to the mind frame of the era under Lady Thatcher, people should want to create wealth, make money, and thus create jobs, the State cant and does not create jobs, there is Society but that Society needs a healthy economy, Countries likes Wales and Scotland have to get off the handouts and develop a economic base based on business, not the mothers milk of the State, the money in the bank is gone folks, time to GROW UP.

King George VI and the Art of Speaking

Guardian: Has an excellent Review on the forthcoming film The King’s Speech, it looks at how the father of H.M The Queen, King George VI overcame his stammer after his succession the throne after the Abdication of King Edward VIII, later the Duke of Windsor. Have seen old footages of the King when he was having a problem with his stammer, it painful to see even now folks, also as your humble correspondent also has stammer one can very much sympathise with the then Duke of York, he was never meant to be King, his urbane and charismatic brother David, Prince of Wales had the looks and the popularity, but love can make men do daft things, it can be very cold with the wrong woman. Thus it will be nice to see a film that shows how even Kings can overcome their problems, but lets be honest being symbol of the nation took it out of the King thus his early death in the 1950s, while the Duke of Windsor lived on in to the 1970s. Some things are never meant! And the cost when they tried is hard.

Afghanistan Front News

MOD: Has announced the name of the UK Soldier that was killed on Tuesday, the Soldier was “ Acting Corporal David Barnsdale from 33 Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), serving with the Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Task Force ”. Our thoughts are with the family of Acting Corporal Barnsdale.

How Safe are Safe Liberal Seats ?

Fox News: Reports that even in birth place of JFK the great State of Massachusetts once liberal seats are under threat from the Republican wave facing the Democrats in November. If Democratic safe seats in the House go Republican this will make 1994 look like a major victory for Bill Clinton. If the Republicans can gain between 75 to 100 seats they can block any Obama policy, they will have the electoral mandate, they can push through a Bill to revoke ObamaCare, this will force POTUS to veto the Bill, the question that Democrats in the House and the Senate will have to ask is will they sustain a Presidential veto, when they run again can they afford to be seen as close to POTUS. The Oval will have to work hard to prevent a wipe out of Democrats on November.

Conservatives vs. Labour

Iain Dale's Diary: The Conservative Political Blogger Iain Dale points out that the Coalition Cuts will be 19%, while Labour had promised 20% in Government, Dale writes the following, “ So their attacks on 19% cuts will ring rather hollow. ” In will be interesting to see how Labour really attack these cuts, one would expect a quite combative approach by Ed Balls the best Shadow Chancellor Labour never had, but Alan Johnson has no economic background at all, he is nice but didn’t have the guts to knife Gordon Brown and walk in to 10 Downing Street as a caretaker PM. Lets see the polls at the end of the week, if Labour is not ahead by between 4-6% they are in real political trouble, if they lose economic argument they will be out of power for a generation.

40,000 Teachers OUT - Coalition Government

Guardian: Reports on a internal Department of Education projection that forty thousand teachers in England face the axe due to public spending cuts. It is a tough world folks, teachers have transferable skills, if they don’t they are not much good as teachers, all sectors of Government are going to get a hit folks, the fault for this economic mess lies at the doorstep of one Mr Gordon Brown, have not noticed his face in the House of Commons of late, if the reader of this blog only turned up a few times for his job he would get the sack, from reports former PM Brown is finishing off his book, a massive book on economics from news reports, Go help us all!

Death in Afghanistan

MOD: Reports that a UK Soldier was killed on Tuesday in Afghanistan, the Soldier was from the “ 33 Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), serving with the Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Task Force ”. Thus since 2001 the UK has lost 341 of its Armed Forces Personnel in Afghanistan, of that total it has lost 301 in combat action and 40 due to illness, accidents or other incidents.

Welfare CUTS

Telegraph: Reports that the Coalition Government will axe another 7 billion from the welfare budget on top of the 11 billion already announced in the Emergency Budget. The Coalition Government has shown by its axing of child benefit to high earners that it is spreading the hurt from the top on down, the welfare budget is the biggest cost the honest tax payer, thus the need for some tough action, being on welfare should not be a life pattern, it should be basic and tough, and why should adults between 18-25 who have never worked get any benefit, if they are willing to help in the local community then yes it’s a good idea, otherwise they should either stick in Education or be helped by their families, there are of course exceptions, but they should be the exception to the rule, and the exceptions should be limited to extreme events.

PM Cameron KEEPS his WORD over CUTS

BBC News: Reports on the key points of the Government cuts to public spending, from the half a million that will lose their jobs to a permanent bank tax. The good point for PM Cameron is that the he has kept his word to the old age pensioners, they will still get their winter fuel allowance, a free bus pass and free TV when they are 75. The devil is in the details folks, this will take a few hours and days to work out, also in Wales and Scotland it will be Labour, Plaid Cymru and SNP who have to do the cuts, sometimes winning is fun when you have to make the Opposition do the real dirty work.

Labour rattled by Defence Review

Alastair's Campbell's Blog: The Master of New Labour spin is rattled by the professional defence review of the Coalition Government, AC has a go at the press, AC writes the following, “ The Cold War may be over. But Pravda style journalism remains all around us. ”. This shows that the Coalition Government has gotten the Defence Review just about right, its not perfect, a carrier that will need to be axed and no planes for the carrier we will used but that down to the foolish defence policies of Labour under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. The Coalition Government could not axe the one of the two carriers due to the fact that it would cost more that building the bloody thing in the first place. On the whole giving the bankrupt nature of the UK’s Governments funding the Defence Review was a professional job and also keeps the UK a nuclear armed power, as always it’s the Tories that have to clean up the mess of Labour.

The UK Cuts and Jobs

Guardian: Reports that the Coalition Government predicts that nearly half million people will lose their jobs due to the cuts. It does have the feel of the 1980s folks, the early 80s it should be stated, after the rough period of those years we had the boom years, lets hope that is the model folks, otherwise its going to be pretty dire out there on the job front, very dire folks. Lets recall that there is a prediction that due to the cuts in the public sector another half million jobs will go in the private sector, yes a million new on the dole, lets hope the reform of the welfare system can cope with this level of unemployment.

Good Advice from PM Cameron - POTUS should READ

10 Downing Street: Read PM Cameron’s statement on the Strategic Defence and Security Review. In the speech there is a good piece of advice to President Obama when it comes to national security and the economy, PM Cameron stated the following, “ Our National Security depends on our economic strength and vice versa. ”. When looking at recent UK history the British Empire become to expensive after World War Two, thus if your broke your no longer a power, the American economy is going the way of the old British Empire, sooner or later there will be a new power to take over from the US, one can postulate it could be China, its has the money and the army, even if it cant control its satellite of North Korea. In less the US economy can be turned around the US will follow the examples of other great powers, its not the enemy that gets you but your own internal shortcomings, in this case Obama attempt to make the US like Western Europe, welfare dependent. The point of the US was it was never meant to be liked old Europe, that’s the part the American left never got, if they did they would have understood the US.

The Defence Cuts - UK Defence Review

BBC News: Reports on the defence cuts, as was leaked the upgrade to the UK’s Nuclear Ability will be decided in five years but prep with start this year. The Coalition PM David Cameron was on good form today, very PM in mode, its suits him, the verdict on Ed Miliband was lot more negative. I thought Ed Miliband was very weak in his response to PM Cameron’s statement on the Defence cuts, he seems unsure of the subject, and stumbled over his words, even the Labour Front Bench did not look happy, one can even postulate by the expression on the face of the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer that he even he found it hard not to show his dismay with the speech of his boss.

New Labour Spin Master and the Coalition Government

Alastair's Campbell's Blog: Even New Labour’s Master Spinner AC has some respect for the political strategy of the Coalition Government, AC states the following, “ The Tories are making a political set of choices…..For sheer nerve, you have to doff your caps to them.” If I was Ed Miliband I would worry, AC is always be Labour but he can see a good political operation in play. This is why it can be postulated that when Ed Miliband makes a real political mistake, and he has five years to do that, the old New Labour hands will not give him a hand up but a knife in the back, as long as Ed Miliband is in charge the AC’s of this world are looking from the outside in the cold, Ed Miliband cant afford to have AC as part of his team due to Iraq. The press hate him, thus when Miliband junior make a mistake one can see Campbell, Mandelson and Blair removing him and getting his brother to take over, then they can come back from the cold.

Mad Men End of Season 4

Just read a Q/A session with Mathew Weiner the creator of Mad Men, very interesting developments for us in the UK. Will not do a link as the Q/A session has a few surprises for the UK. Watch Mad Men, the perfect TV show after Dr Who.

US Unemployment at 10% - Mid Term Elections

Gallup: Reports that in Mid - October the US unemployment rate is at 10% and by end of the month the Government figure will be between 9.7% - 9.9%. This will not be good for Democrats, after the Mid Term Elections the Oval really has to think about getting people back to work, Obama knows that US elections start early these days, in fact after the 2012 race starts on November 3rd 2011. The question is can President Obama pivot to the centre, does he understand that the new centre in US politics is to his right, the US voter wants the Oval to get people back to work, Reagan got Reagan Democrats back to work by cutting taxes, the Oval is for getting taxes up, can Obama keep his base but also get tax cuts through a Republican Congress that does not want to give him any credit. Also the Congress will try to repeal ObamaCare, what will Obama do, veto the bill or reform the bill, that will decide if President Obama wins in 2012.

The Joke HMS Carrier

Telegraph: Reports that one of the two new Carriers being built for the Royal Navy will only have shelf life of three years before being axed. This odd decision is based on the fact that the UK Coalition Government could not axe the building because it would cost to much in costs, thus the Navy has a Carrier on loan in many respects in till its axed or sold as to get some of the money back due to its cost of building. The new Coalition Government has been left a minefield by the last Labour Government, the public spending cuts will be harsh, the Defence cuts came under 10% of the Defence Budget, God help those Government Departments with a cut of 25% to 40%. One gets the austerity image of the 1950s coming to mind but in colour.

Replacing Trident ? Defence Review by UK Government

Guardian: Reports that the decision to replace the Trident nuclear system will now be taken in five years. Although this delay will keep the Liberal Democrats happy in the Coalition Government it still keeps the UK a nuclear armed nation, it’s a matter of when the UK decides to upgrade its nuclear arsenal, even Ed Miliband the new Labour leader supports the UK being a nuclear armed power, that is one reform from New Labour that has stuck with the new leadership. The downside to the Defence Review as reported by the BBC is that HMS Ark Royal will be axed early than expected as to save money, lets hope we don’t have another Falklands War 11. These tough Defence decisions are based on the economic mess left to the Coalition Government by the Government of Gordon Brown. Also lets hope down the line that Iran does not try some kind of nuclear blackmail, its always the unexpected that gets you, it’s the unknown of the unknown to misquote a former US Defence Secretary.

Labour would TAX - NOT NEW LABOUR!

Telegraph: Reports that Labour under the new leadership of Ed Milliband would tax more and not cut spending to get the UK out of its economic black hole left by the last Labour Government. This is why Labour faces being out of power for a generation, former New Labour PM Tony Blair must be wondering why he bothered with Labour when they revert to type after losing an election. This will give the Coalition Government an open goal to attack Labour as reverting to its old Labour routes, what next will they want to get rid of Trident, its shows how much New Labour was a PR stunt, it didn’t change Labour at its core, Tony Blair was in a way lucky to be pushed out when he was in 2007.

55 House Democrats under threat - Mid Term Elections

Human Events: Reports that respected pollster Rasmussen predicts that the Republicans will take 55 seats in the House, thus giving them control of the House. This would give the Republicans a good majority to work with and also cause Obama White House a lot of problems as these new members would have been supported by the tea party movement. One of the first acts of the new Republican Congress would be to pass a Bill that would repeal ObamaCare and this would force President Obama to Veto the Bill. The Democrats in the House and Senate would be forced with a hard choice, will they support the Presidential Veto or will they overrule the veto as to keep their own seats safe. The latest Oval reporting is that Obama will try to move to the centre after the 2010 Mid Term Elections, this blog has it doubts that President Obama understands what the centre is, its to his centre right, is it a bridge the President is willing to walk, if the President really wants to move to the centre he would revise Health Care Reform, that is the test folks.

The Last Two Weeks of the Mid Terms

Gallup: Lets start off with the President Obama’s latest Gallup poll rating, the President is at 44% approval and 48% disapproval, not a good sign if you’re a Democrat running in a moderate or conservative State or House District. It will be interesting to see after the polls close on November 2nd, what the margin is between the Republicans and the Democrats and how this matches Obama’s poll ratings.

Gallup Generic Poll - Mid Term Elections 2010

Gallup: Reports on its new Generic Ballot for the Mid Term Folks, in the likely voters with a low turnout the figures are as follows, Republicans 56% and Democrats 39%. I have feeling if you look at the RCP average of polls that has 6.8% lead for the Republicans and this poll that has 17% lead its matter of looking at the reality, the Democrats should be able to get their voters out, even the dead ones, sorry Chicago joke. The Republicans should benefit from the fear of unemployment and the sky high rates for health insurance since POTUS passed ObamaCare. The question is the turnout, it can be argued that following past trends the 40% to 50% mark can be expected, thus if the Republicans can get between 6.8% and the 17 % of Gallup they should be going for a healthy majority in the House and parity with the Democrats in the Senate, even the outside chance that they could take the Senate, but its still two weeks to go folks, lets see what Mid Terms produce for Congress.

2010 Mid Term Elections - Generic Ballot Polls

RCP: Reports on its Average of the latest generic ballot polls for the 2010 Mid Term Election, its latest Average is the following, Republicans 48.1% and the Democrats 41.3, giving the Republicans a lead of 6.8%. The Democrats are throwing some real BS at the Republicans as the election gets close folks, you have Democrats in the California Governor race calling the Republican opponent a Whore, in other races Democrats are calling their opponent extreme candidates if they have the support of the tea party movement. The latest BS is that the Republicans are taking money from abroad, even calling it Watergate, just one minor problem, even the bloated liberal NYT calls this story rubbish. Thus it can be argued from the latest polls that the House will go Republican, on the Senate side it looks like the Democrats will keep control of the Senate but will be near parity with the Republicans. In essence the Obama Agenda will be dead on the Hill. Thus what will President Obama do, does he want to get re-elected in 2012, the noise from the Oval can give one the impression that Obama might run but with the knowledge that he will lose, that can only explain the fact that he has asked VP Biden to run with him again, if he really wanted a chance of winning he would ask Secretary Clinton to be his running mate. Thus what can we expect in the last two years of the Obama 1st term, well nothing really, the House will block any more spending by Obama, and the Senate will be frozen, in 2011 the Republicans and Democrats will start to get ready for the 2012 Presidential Race, thus the Campaign starts after the polls close in November, two years of Campaigning folks, what fun that will be, but that’s Democracy folks.

The Real Dark Prince ? - Lord Peter Mandelson

Guardian: Reports a new documentary on the Dark Prince himself Lord Peter Mandelson that was filmed during the last days of the Brown Government. It seems from clips shown on the BBC and this article that Lord Mandelson has allowed a warts and all view of politics, what ever you think of the Dark Prince he does not hide like some defeated PM when could all name, he always fighting, giving advice to Labour even if they don’t want it, one can postulate that Lord Mandelson could be a real thorn in the side of Ed Miliband the new Labour Leader if he throws to much BS at New Labour. Lets recall the don’t call Lord Mandelson the Dark Prince for nothing, be wary Mr Miliband the Dark Prince could have you in his sights, one has to wonder does Tony Blair want to get rid of Ed Miliband?

The Nevada Fight, the Cost of Obama Agenda!

Telegraph: Reports on the close Senate fight in the US State of Nevada, the Democratic Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid is in a close fight with the Republican Sharron Angle. Objective: The state of Nevada has one of the highest unemployment rates in the US, the Obama Administration has been critical of big business and its business junkets to Nevada, thus business has cut back and people have lost their jobs. Subjective: Harry Reid has pushed the Obama Agenda at the expense of his own State and that of the US. Its time for the great State of Nevada to send a message to Harry Reid, if you wont fight for your own State then the voters will hire a new Senator. Thus the good citizens of Nevada vote for the Republican Sharron Angle.

Defending the Defence Budget

BBC News: Reports that the UK Defence Budget has been protected from cuts by the Coalition PM and Conservative Leader David Cameron. At the end of the day the Conservative Party is about the defence of the UK, backbench Conservative MPs would have thrown a major fit if the Defence Budget took a major hit; the devil is in the details; lets see what the cuts will be, next week the Coalition Government will announced its cuts, lets see what real pain the MOD will have to suffer.

Has POTUS LOST the PLOT ?

Telegraph: Reports that President Obama has asked VP Biden to run with him in 2012. If this is true it shows that President Obama has lost the plot and needs to get to a darken room and take some tea and biscuits. Lets deal with Joe Biden first, the man is a walking foot in the mouth, who announces this kind of news before the 2010 Mid Term Congressional Elections when your Party is on the ropes. Also a President going in to a second term needs a VP that can run after his four years, that was the fault with the selection of VP Cheney for the 2nd term, a VP who wants to run will make sure the Administration does not lose all connection with the US voter, thus Bush 41 VP to Ronald Reagan ran in 1988 and won, this was good for the Reagan record and allowed Reagan to leave the mess of Iran - Contra for Bush 41 to clear up at the end of his Presidency. Even to be fair to Al Gore ( takes some effort ) he won the popular vote in 2000 but didn’t win Florida. In the view of Gore it was the fault of Bill Clinton and his Impeachment that he lost the 2000 Presidential Election, even Hillary Clinton in 2008 had face worries as to what Bill would get up to in the White House if he was bored! Thus the elites in the Democratic Party and the liberal elite media will see this as a massive mistake, Obama really needs to dump Biden, does not matter if he likes him, Presidential politics is a ruthless business.

ObamaCare US Court Challenge

The New York Times: Reports that a US Court in the US State of Florida has allowed 20 States to Challenge ObamaCare. Lets recall folks that the US Supreme Court is an equal of the Presidency and the US Congress in the US Constitution, the Supremes are the final Court of Appeal, their word is law, should they find ObamaCare illegal its over for the Obama Presidency. The President spent a year and half pushing ObamaCare and it could cost him the control of Congress, what if the US Supreme Court throws out ObamaCare, this would mean than going in to 2012 the Obama Administration had nothing to show for four years. Lets recall a majority of the US Justices have been appointed by Republican Presidents, over the years the Justices have become more Conservative. Also Obama has been quite critical of the US Supreme Court, the Court might to decide to clip the wings of the Obama Presidency, one can almost see it happening, does the Court have the guts to take on the Chicago Crowd in the White House.

Lady Thatcher ill - Birthday Party

BBC News: Reports that Lady Thatcher was taken ill before a Birthday Celebration at 10 Downing Street, the event was announced at the Conservative Party Conference by Coalition PM and Conservative Leader David Cameron. Lets hope the great Lady gets well soon, the Thatcher Era as a golden time for the UK, those that recall the period will always have fond memories of Lady Thatcher. Those that will not have fond memories will be the Trade Unions, the old USSR, Argentina, the BBC, the pro Europeans within the Conservative Party. Not a lot that you would want to be a member of, those were the days folks.

The Elite Media vs. Obama

Time: Has a withering attack on the Obama Administration, the article states the following on the Obama Administration “ ……is being politically crushed in a vise. From above, by elite opinion about his competence. From below, by mass anger and anxiety over unemployment. ”. When the elites from the New York Times and Time start to bail on its Favourite Son its time for that son to grow up and smell the coffee, the Obama Administration has allowed its arrogance and this comes from the Oval to its extreme Liberal Agenda to create more problems for the US economy, the Obama Stimulus spending has not created jobs, in fact Obama stated that the unemployment rate would not go beyond 8% its now at 9.6%. The Obama health care reform was meant to be popular after it was passed by the Congress, over 50% want to revoke ObamaCare, the bailout of the banks and the car industry has helped businessmen and unions but what about main street, nothing, they are being thrown out of their houses and from reports the Obama Administration does not want to freeze the eviction of people due to the fear that this will send the US housing market in to free fall, also on the international front Obama has shown that he his weaker that Jimmy Carer, his main position is bowing to US enemies, he has been slapped in the face by Iran so many times one has lost count, and what does Obama do, allow his backside to be kicked by Tehran every time Iran gets the chance, North Korea has no respect for Obama, he is a pushover that can be bullied. Also the Obama Administration wants to place terrorists in the US Court system, it has failed to get the fact the US is at war with terrorists. As with the case with Afghanistan the Obama Administration is more interested in keeping the Democratic base happy than the security of Afghanistan and Pakistan, thus the plan to withdraw troops in 2011. The above is why the Oval is heading for a fall November, and what is sad is that President Obama wont get it, his own arrogance is more important to him that the standing of the US in economics or international politics.

85 Seats in House - Republican ?

The New York Times Blog: Reports that there are 85 competitive House races, this is the highest level of competitive races in many a election cycle. Is this the bloated liberal NYT throwing the towel, are they staring to see the real world and the failure of the Obama Agenda. If the Republicans retake the House and win between 80 - 100 seats the Obama Agenda is more than dead on the Hill, the White House will have to defend it by the use of the Presidential Veto, and the Republican Congress will make President Obama pay, they will pass something that Liberals want but part of the deal will be the revoking of ObamaCare, they will make Obama veto many of these kind of Bills. The Oval can be a world of hurt if a President is arrogant believes his own press statements, just look at Richard Nixon or LBJ.

1,000,000 JOBS to be LOST due to Public Spending Cuts

Telegraph: Reports that a million people in the private and public sector will lose their jobs over the next four years due to the cuts in public spending. Think about that folks, Government spending direct and indirect effects over a million jobs, that cant work in the long term, Government does not produce jobs, its not a wealth maker, if you take over sectors that should be done by the private sector you cut the point of Western system. These cuts will hurt folks, but it will bring small government and then the economic system might recover, but its going to take years folks, a lot of hurt ahead and misery.

The SELLING of the Royal Mail

BBC News: Reports that 90% of the Royal Mail will be sold to the private sector while 10% will be held by the workers. This Information Technology Age we have email, the old postal structure does not work, one is more likely to send email than letters these days, but a growing sector is the sending and receiving of parcels from online purchases, but this can be by the private sector, so one has to ask if your in the private sector would you buy a business that has no long term history, would you have bought a taxi driven by a horse when the car was coming up fast! These are the hard fact of business life folks, the Royal Mail might not be that easy to sell.

The Money and the 2010 Mid Term Elections

The New York Times: Reports that the Liberal billionaire George Soros is keeping his money in these 2010 Mid Term Elections, he can read the tea leavers. When the biggest money man keeps his money its about time for Democrats to shut up shop and go home and lick their wounds. It looks like the Democrats are going to get a political earthquake in November, thus the Obama White House has to decide, does it co - operate with a Republican Congress or does it go down fighting, depends if POTUS has the wisdom to see his own faults, that the problem with arrogance, when it seen its to late, even if Obama goes down big time in 2012 he wont understand why, POTUS is brainy but lacks wisdom.

Obama 2nd Term ?

Telegraph: Reports on the prospects for President Obama to run for a second term in 2012. This blog has predicted that President Obama will either not run or go down to major defeat, think Walter Mondale when he lost to Ronald Reagan by 49 States and 59% of the vote. Lets be clear Obama is elite and arrogant, but he is not stupid, if he gets a Republican House and Senate his Domestic Agenda is dead in the water. In 1994 Bill Clinton faced a Republican Congress but still won in 1996 but Clinton was a great pragmatic politician, he went to the centre, even centre right to win in 1996. The Obama Presidency has one problem, its President Obama, lets be clear Obama is a clever and bright guy, he saw how great Reagan was, but he is not Reagan, the Gipper was also a great pragmatic politician, the Obama domestic and world view is so left of centre as to be in Cuba, and even Cuba is seeing the faults with left wing politics. If Obama was to really look at his style and policies of Government and see that he would have to change his whole psychological make up would fall apart, how do you tell your self that your spouting rubbish and even worse wrong rubbish. Thus the Obama political makeup will see that in 2012 he cant win or worse he will go down the toilet, thus without the love he will get out, he will blame the Republicans, the media, think a liberal Richard Nixon. That is the sad part about Obama, he could have been a contender, now he will be another Jimmy Carter.

Those University Days Part Two

BBC News: Reports that the Coalition Government has accepted the Browne Reports that states that the Universities should be free to charge what the want, the reform has the approval the Business Secretary and Lib Dem Vince Cable. If all the Lib Dems in the Coalition Government vote for this reform the Bill well get through the House, the Lib Dem leadership will have to be tough on its MPs, that includes former leaders. As stated in previous post on higher education the System is broken due to the left wing views for the previous Governments. The last Labour Government wanted 50% of school leavers to go to University, this is mad, not everyone should go to higher education, we still need people to take training in other fields that don’t need a degree. This is a big risk for the Lib Dems, at the next election one can see a election pact between the Lib Dems and Tories, not because they want it, but due to the election maths, if the Coalition keeps together they could bury Labour. Lets recall that the National Government was very popular and won elections in the 1930s. Labour only got a look in due to World War Two.

Crisis over Defence Cuts

Mail on Sunday: Reports that three Junior Defence Ministers will walk if there a major Defence Cuts. The Coalition PM and Conservative Leader David Cameron will have to find a way to keep the right of the Conservative Party on board for the public spending cuts that will hit the Middle Class, the best way to keep the right of the Conservative Party happy is to fund Defence. Thus advice to Mr Cameron find something else to cut rather than the Defence Budget, delay the welfare reform for a few years and fund defence.

Those University Days!

Guardian: Reports that University Tuition Fees are going to have a major hike. The question of University funding comes down either higher tuition fees or a graduate tax, as the money is needed at this moment in time then it seems it has to be tuition fees, this blog recalls days when you had a grant for University, but those days have long one, thus modern students will face thousands of pounds of debt when they leave University, and even then the might find that there is no job for them in the long term. Thus one has to ask who is the solution, its harsh and truthful folks, not all people should go to University, it was a bad idea for various Government to increase the level of students in higher education, there are some very silly degree courses out there folks, also these days if you go for a job of a barman you could find that others seeking the job have a Doctorate, this means those that leave School at 16 or 18 with no qualifications are stuck in a lifetime of low paid jobs or no jobs, thus the present problem of the welfare state. Lets be honest folks the education and welfare elite have really messed up the system, is trying to do good they have destroyed lives.

Good Conference for the Conservative Party

Telegraph: Reports that the Coalition PM and Conservative leader David Cameron had a good Party Conference, the Conservative Party has gone ahead of Labour in a new poll after Labour took the lead after its conference, the results is as follows, Conservatives 38%, Labour 34% and Lib Dems 18%. The Coalition Government better enjoy these polls leads, the spending cuts are going to make them very ( VERY ) unpopular in the Country, the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats will have to keep their nerve, the pain in the short term will be good in the long term political stakes, closer to the election if the economy has recovered the Parties can offer major tax cuts, the axed benefits can be bought back if the economic books are the black and the Labour Party will be seen as a dodo, of course this all depends on the economy.

Don’t REJECT New Labour - Mandelson

BBC News: Reports that the Dark Prince New Labour Lord Mandelson has warned the new Labour Leader Ed Miliband not to reject New Labour, its was New Labour that won three elections for the Labour Party. The new Labour Leader Ed Miliband has stated that New Labour is dead and buried, well this was bound to get the Dark Prince in to the light, the architect of New Labour does not want to see New Labour defined as a limited PR stunt, it can be argued that Ed Miliband will have problems with Blair, Mandelson and Campblell down the line, the more that “ Red ” Ed “ Brutus ” Miliband takes the Labour to the left, the more New Labour founders will fear that their time in power will be seen as the exception to the Labour history, Tory light period in many respects. Thus the Blair Camp will find a new leader if David Miliband wont take on his younger brother, Blair has stated that he would like to back to UK politics, well the Coalition wont give him a job thus he needs a New Labour back in power, if Ed Miliband wont play ball then Blair etc will find a new leader, lets recall even Gordon Brown is furious with Ed Miliband, thus if this blog was Ed Miliband he would watch his back, he could have Blair, Brown and Balls all wanting to knife him in the back when things go wrong, and they do even in Opposition.

Afghanistan Front News

MOD: Has released the name of the UK Soldier killed last Friday in Afghanistan, the Soldier was “ Sergeant Peter Anthony Rayner of the 2 nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, attached to 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, serving as part of Combined Force Nahr-e Saraj (South ) ”. Our thoughts are with the family of Sergeant Rayner.

The Mid Term Elections 2010

RCP: Reports on its latest average of the polls for the generic vote for Congress, the average is Republicans 47.7% and the Democrats 41.9%, a Republican lead of 5.8%. Thus far the Obama counter offensive to the Republicans has been a disaster, the Oval has to decide does it really want to keep a Democratic Congress or in its heart of hearts does it want a Republican Congress that would allow President Obama to move to the centre. If POTUS really wants to keep Congress he has to be bold, really bold, he should state that he got ObamaCare wrong, and say that he will ask the Congress to repeal or reform health care reform. The left would go over a cliff but the Democrats could still keep Congress, also Obama should ask the Congress to keep the Bush 43 tax cuts for all tax payers, high and low,. In Presidential politics a President has to learn to say SORRY, it’s the hardest thing in Presidential vocabulary, even Reagan had to say sorry after Iran - Contra, the American voter are very understating of a President that makes a mistake and says sorry, but its very hard for the Oval, it needs good advisors or a political wired wife, Reagan had Nancy Reagan, who is the Nancy Reagan in the Obama Court.

The Balls FACTOR!

Guardian: Has more on the reason that Ed Miliband didn’t give Ed Balls the job of Shadow Chancellor the article states the following, “ …spurned Balls because he could not be trusted politically…Balls "shafted himself" by his near-public bid for the job. ”. At the end of the day you would have to be very naïve to believe that Ed Balls would not stab Ed Miliband in the back if he thought he could get the leadership. Lets recall the hard time Gordon Brown gave to Tony Blair while he was Shadow Chancellor, Brown never forgave Tony Blair for taking the leadership from him, if you read the Alastair Campbell Diaries Blair is always in some argument with Brown on economic policy, Brown would take a different view just to annoy Blair and Campbell, also his open warfare with Lord Mandelson that spilled in to Government. One thing Ed Miliband would have learned is that a Labour leader needs a Chancellor that he trust and can control, that was never the case between Blair and Brown.

The Brown/Balls Camp vs. Ed Miliband

Guido Fawkes Blog: Reports that the Brown/Balls Camp is starting its attack on Ed Miliband for not placing Ed Balls as Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer. Its not quite the Blair vs. Brown Wars as Ed Milbiand worked for Gordon Brown and served in his Cabinet but it’s a fight on the left of Labour, between Balls who wants no cuts and Ed Miliband who wants an economic policy that look real to the outside world, thus you have a fight for NO cuts to some cuts, all very geeky. Lets recall that when Labour did a runner in 1931 it didn’t get back in to power in till World War Two, if the Coalition works the Labour Party could be out of power for a generation. It can also be postulated that Ed Miliband made Alan Johnson the Shadow Chancellor as to have a place holder in till his brother David gets over his political wounds and comes back in to the Cabinet, it can be argued that Mr Johnson will move aside once David Miliband is back in the Cabinet, not the case with Ed Balls. All politics is family.

300 Combat Deaths in Afghanistan

MOD: Reports that a UK Soldier was killed today in Afghanistan, this brings the combat deaths in Afghanistan to 300, the Soldier was from the “ 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment attached to 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles ”. Thus since 2001 the UK has lost 340 of its Armed Forces Personnel in Afghanistan, of that total it has lost 300 in combat operations and 40 due to illness, accidents or other incidents.

Titanic Anniversary 1912 -2012

Telegraph: Reports that a Cruise on the anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic has only a few tickets available. It might sound a bit ghoulish but this blog would be on board if could afford the ticket, the sinking of the RMS Titanic is one of those historical events that never goes away, every year there is new stories that come out, of late that the helmsman of the Titanic who turned the steering the wrong way thus the sinking. Its that night that always fascinates, would you have been a hero or a cad, would it have been women and children in the lifeboats first or you first, its one of those questions that you never want to answer.

The Shadow Chancellor - Alan Johnson

BBC News: Reports on the appointment on Alan Johnson as Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer. There is hope for Ed Miliband, he would have been fool to appoint Ed Balls, at the end of the day Balls is seen as Gordon Brown’s man, it might not be fair but he was seen as Brown’s enforcer, if he had been appointed Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown would have been a ghost at the Shadow Cabinet meetings. Lets be honest would any leader trust Balls not stab him in the back, Ed Balls will never forgive Ed Miliband for this insult, he has wanted to be Chancellor for years, also Mr Miliband has given Balls a tough shadow post, that of Home Secretary, the public always want tough law enforcement and more prisons, the left wants more rights for the prisoners, so if the Tories go hard right in the next few years over law and order, the job will be hard for Ed Balls, to have any and I mean any credibility with the public he will have to be tougher than the Tories, the left will go bonkers, thus Ed Miliband just might have finished the political career one of his major opponents. One has to say Ed Miliband is quite ruthless, his own brothers political career over, now Ed Balls, who next? But be wary Mr Miliband one can postulate that Balls will get you if he gets the chance, he has big elbows and he is not your brother.

Downfall of the Obama Agenda ?

CNN: Reports on the political troubles of the Democrats running in 2010 Mid Term Elections, how the Obama Agenda from health care reform to the removal of terrorists from Guantanamo to the US mainland could have sunk the Democrats and the control of Congress. An interesting and very fair piece from the elite media, if in the White House would not show this to President Obama, he is rather think skinned when it comes to critic of his Agenda. The article makes a very important point that Obama could have read his election as support for his LIBERAL Agenda and not a negative vote against Bush 43. If the Congress goes Republican, President Obama will have to make a choice, move to centre and get re-elected or keep to his LIBERAL Agenda and go down to major defeat in 2012.

Gallup 50% Disapprove of Obama !

Gallup: Reports on its latest daily job approval poll for President Obama, today President Obama stands at 50% Disapproval and 43% approval. If these numbers stay the same in November then Democrats will get wiped out in Congress. The Democrats are throwing all the BS they can at the Republicans, they are being helped by the elite US media, lets see if the Tea Party Movement has the effect of moving an arrogant President to the middle, or does Obama want to be another Jimmy Carter.

Message from the Olympic Gods - No more POTUS ?

Daily Mail: Reports that the Seal of the US President fell of its lectern when President Obama was giving a speech. This could be a warning from the political GODS to Obama, one minute President then a one term President. Thus President Obama really has to start looking at his re-election Campaign, he has to get Independents back in to the fold or he will face losing 48/49 States in 2012. A good way to win re-election would be to dump his ObamaCare, but that would take political wisdom and courage, Obama still thinks he is the smartest man in the room! He thinks he can get out of Afghanistan without any political pain, no wonder the Seal fell off, it thinks that is beyond funny. Read of the Day.

The LEFT on PM Speech

Guardian: As the liberal left in the US has the liberal and bloated NYT, the UK has the Guardian, as expected the Guardian commentators gives the Cameron not much credit. Explains why Labour lost the election in May.

Lady Thatcher 85th Birthday = 10 Downing Street

Telegraph: Reports that the Iran Lady of UK Politics Lady Thatcher will spend her 85th birthday in 10 Downing Street next week. I recall the day Mrs Thatcher as she was then departed 10 Downing Street, she had been stabbed in the back by her own Cabinet, it was one of the most shameful events in Conservative history, yes Sir John Major did win the 1992 election but the Conservative Party took years to recover from that act of political assassination. Lets be honest folks, as for great PM’s there is Churchill and Thatcher, the rest are so 2nd rate, one can argue that Tony Blair should be up there, but Iraq causes a shadow over the time of Tony Blair. The UK was lucky to have Lady Thatcher as PM, she was great, lets hope she has many more happy birthdays in 10 Downing Street.

The Conference Speech by PM David Cameron

BBC News: Reports on the first conference speech by the Coalition PM and Conservative Leader David Cameron. Subjective Verdict: The speech was excellent! The PM attacked the Labour record but didn’t hide the tough spending cuts ahead, he asked the UK voter to come together as he ( generic term ) was called in World War One, thus PM Cameron stated twice that the “ Your Country Needs You ”. The PM stated the importance of the individual in many respects, in a paradox it did recall those famous lines, that there is no such thing as society, the Cameron Society is the Civic Society, thus in a paradox a one nation conservative view of society. Thus you have Thatcherism and One Nation Conservatism merged. That takes some brain power. Its time for the UK voter to get off his backside and get back to work, either through job creation, and getting his neighbour hood back under civic control, no more yobs. It as very JFK in many respects. Objective View: The Speech was to long, could see the point of developing the Big Society argument of David Cameron and how this focus on the individual and groups of people who want to help the Country. The speech was far better than the Ed Miliband speech, that would not take much, but Labour might find that the real successor to Tony Blair is David Cameron, one could have seen Blair at his height stating the very same themes of the speech. Cameron still on to win in 2015.

2010 Mid Term Elections - Part Two

RCP: Reports on its average of generic polls, the RCP average is Republicans 47.9% and Democrats 42.3%. If this is a wipe out election for Democrats the Gallup poll as posted is the likely outcome, but if the Parties are more narrow by Election Day then the Republicans will retake the House and get parity with the Democrats in the Senate. A the effect on the Obama Administration of a big Republican win would be that President Obama would be forced to move to the centre, otherwise he might as well play golf for two years. A narrow win is more of a negative for President Obama, the Oval might get in to its head that the election was a fluke, thus not move to the centre as Clinton moved in 1994, this could lead to Obama losing his bid for re-election in 2012. Thus according to a recent poll 91% of African Americans still support Obama, if African Americans want to see the first African American President win a second term they should vote Republican. A Congress under the Republicans would force both Obama and the Republican Leadership to the centre, thus President Obama could run as a moderate in 2012 and win re-election. In many respects 2010 could decide the election of 2012.

2010 Mid Term Elections - Gallup Poll

Gallup: Has an interesting Generic Poll for the 2010 Mid Term Congressional Elections, its has three different outcomes, registered voters, likely voters ( low turnout ), likely voters ( high turnout ). The outcome that is drawing my attention is the one likely voter with a low turnout, this poll has the Republicans on 56% and the Democrats on 38%, a 18% lead for the Republicans, if this was the result it would be wipe out for the Democrats, the Obama Presidency would be over but in name, lets see the next few polls, watch the likely voter but low turnout, there is something, not sure yet, but lets see some more polls.

Ireland Bankrupt Part Three

Guardian: Reports on more pressure on the Irish Economy, another credit agency has announced it might reduce the credit worthiness of Ireland due to its recession of an economy and its debt. The fear is that Ireland will have to be bailed out like Greece by the IMF. Lets recall folks if Ireland goes down the toilet it could have great consequences for the UK economy, Ireland is a major economic partner, thus if Ireland is on its economic death bed then UK at its most basic might have a major stroke, that simple and harsh folks. This blog would suggest that the EU and the US take over ALL banks and check the books, and restart from scratch, one gets the feeling that the banks are sucking the last dollar, pound out of the UK voter as to keep their bonuses. Ireland might be a lost cause, the UK should look at what the costs would be to the UK if Ireland went belly up, get rid of any debts, in other words if it’s a choice between the economy of the UK and Ireland, then UK Government has to protect the UK economy first, no matter the effect on Ireland.

Those ROTTEN Banks!

Telegraph: Reports that the Western Banks still have debts of four trillion dollars and will need Government aid to keep the system secure. This folks is getting out of hand, another four trillion dollars, how much stupid decisions have banks taken, and why are they giving out big fat bonuses to bad bankers in every sense of the word. This is the kind of thing that could make you a MARXIST! The Western Governments should allow the banks to fail, then protect the customers, otherwise the banks have the Western voter by the throat, it seems any bank is to BIG to fail. Its time that these bankers faced corruption charges, even if Governments have to create back dated laws to get these bankers in Court. Does the Western Economy have the money to bailout these banks without destroying the Welfare State.

The RETURN of the Democrats ?

Politico: Reports that Democrats are thinking that they might not suffer a political tsunami in the 2010 Mid Term Congressional Elections, the article states the following, as several important states now appear to be trending in their direction or growing more competitive.. The Democrats having been throwing the kitchen sink at the Republicans, also one can not discount the appeal of President Obama to young voters, the Democrats know that if they lose the House the Obama Agenda is dead on the Hill. The article notes the difficult of the Republicans taking the Senate, but in many respects they don’t have to take the Senate, as long as they get close to parity with the Democrats they can block the Obama Agenda or his nominees for Government jobs. A week is a long time in politics folks, also the Republicans face the danger not from Democrats from the elite media, the liberal NYT and the TV networks will throw any BS at the Republicans to protect the Obama White House and the Democrats on the Hill. The Republicans have to keep to a simple message, that the Obama White House has taken the US economy over a cliff, they have acted as drunk sailors through their economic stimulus, health care reform, the bailout of the car industry. Expect a lot of negative attacks from the elite media folks, the clever part is getting at the truth between the lines. Thus this blog is still keeping to its prediction that the Republicans will retake the House and get parity with Democrats in the Senate. Will make actual Seat predictions close to the election.

26,000 in benefits as a CAP?

Telegraph: Reports that the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has stated that there will be a cap on benefits, the limit will be the average working wage. I am sorry but if families are getting twenty six thousand bounds in benefits then the system is corrupt, you cant have a system in benefits that is double the wage than in the poor parts of the UK, the weekly wage might be twenty six thousand pounds in London and the South of England but its half or less than that in the Wales and Scotland. Thus the Chancellor really needs drastic cuts in benefits, no wonder the work shy of Southern England are not working if you getting twenty six grand, this blogger would be work shy if he got those kind of benefits. The welfare system really needs to change, drastic cuts, support the low income yes, but if the cap on benefits is twenty six thousand the system is corrupt, between ten and fifteen thousand for a family of three yes, but 26,000, now wonder the UK had no money left.

No more Child Benefit = 44,000 +

BBC News: Reports that the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has announced at the Conservative Party Conference that those earning over forty four thousand pounds will lose the right to have child benefit after 2013. Lets be honest folks this benefit for those that earn over forty thousand pounds is a tax break, the UK economy is in a mess, thus its right that the rich pay. The Labour Governments of Blair and Brown spent all the money as a outgoing Labour Minister stated to his successor, thus it is important that all benefits go to those that really need the benefits, the good days are over folks, its going to get rougher out there, the Labour Party still does not get the fact that it lost the election due to the fact that it lost the trust of the voter when it come to the economy, thus they have opposed this radical reform. The Welfare System post 1945 is over, people can go up the wall but that’s the fact of life, the Banks and Labour have flushed the UK piggy bank down the toilet, its harsh but it’s the real world folks, get used to it.

Afghanistan Front News

MOD: Has announced the name of the UK Soldier that was killed on Saturday in Afghanistan, the Soldier was “ Rifleman Suraj Gurung from 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, serving as part of Combined Force Nahr-e Saraj (South) ”. Our thoughts are with the family of Rifleman Suraj Gurung.

UK and US - Al Qaeda Threat for France and Germany

BBC News: Reports that both the UK and the US have warned their citizens of a Al Qaeda threat in France and Germany, the US had added the UK to that list. As stated in previous in post this could be real or just an attempt by Al Qaeda to keep itself in the news, either way the terrorists win, this kind of advice should only be given out if a threat is imminent, otherwise if no attack people will start to ignore them and then Al Qaeda will attack. Also this has been going on for a few weeks now, what are the dots and why haven they been stopped, why not send in the SAS and SBS to the badlands of the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan to take out these threats.

Ireland Bankrupt Part Two

Telegraph: Interesting article on why Ireland has gone belly up, at the end of the day the Irish drank to much of the black stuff; good but there is a cost; as the article states the following, “ the Irish know they contributed to their own downfall through greed, recklessness and overindulgence. ”. At the end of the day the middle class and the poor will have to pay for the banks, the bankers will have done a runner our found tax loopholes. The Irish boom was founded on debt, and that debt has to be paid, one can argue that the Irish Banks have not told the whole truth about their debts, that’s goes for all banks, they only own up when they come to the Government and say they need money or will be closed tomorrow. In one way Marx was right, in this Marxist Manifesto he stated that the employer would grind down the worker, in sense the banks have fleeced the people. The bankers have missed the point, they should create wealth for the long term, not quick dollar and then bankrupt the nations, not great strategic thinking by the banks. The Irish Government should have let the banks go under, and used the money to help the customers, otherwise one can guarantee that in time the bailouts will be used as bonuses for the bankers, is the Irish Government still on the good black stuff? Read of the Day.
