This is the type of offer to make NYT/Guardian readers happy, also appeasers of Iran.   The offer does nothing about Iran's missile technology or its terrorists actions in the region.  The left will see this offer as away to avoid WAR in the region, it could have the reverse effect, it could force Israel and Saudi Arabia to take action to prevent Tehran getting the bomb.   The simple question would YOUR TRUST IRAN, and how about their secret bases, and they do have them.  This is shallow offer by a theocracy Government in trouble at home.   The Trump Administration has to keep up the economic pressure on Iran.

If this blog was Boris Johnson it would announce a general election the moment he becomes PM.  Before the announcing the election the new PM should throw the hard remain MPs out of the Party, remove the Conservative whip from them, allow them stand as independent candidates to become an MP.  Also the new PM should announce that since the Speaker has broken faith with his role as Speaker, that a Conservative candidate will oppose him in his seat if he is standing again.   It will be interesting to see how Boris acts as PM, this blog does not see him taking a risk of a general election, he will sack the REMAIN CABINET Ministers, but then they will be a hindrance on the backbenches, thus a general election is not that far away.

One the whole US Presidents have more power in the foreign affairs than, they can start wars without the approval of the US Congress, the Wars Powers Act of 1973 states that after about certain of weeks the Oval Office has to ask the Congress for financial support for the War.  If Trump was Richard Nixon, he would strike Iran HARD, unite the Republican Party, there would be some who would oppose but they would be in the minority, the Democrats would be VERY DIVIDED, the left wingers in the House would want to impeach Trump again, while the moderates from Conservative Districts would be placed on the spot.  The Democratic candidates for President would also be placed on the spot, would they support the action or go to the LEFT.   This is why Presidents prefer foreign policy, they hold nearly all the Aces, but one doubts that Trump is that bright.

Thus the US has shot down a Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz, this balances the fact that Tehran shot down a US drone in the region.   The question NEXT, is what will Iran do, will it do as the Trump did and do NOTHING, or will it try its luck again with a full attack on a US ship.  Has Tehran come to the conclusion that POTUS is full of hot wind and will not follow up if Iran does take action in the Strait of Hormuz.   This would be a MISTAKE, Trump has started a race storm with tweets and the shouts of his supporters, of course POTUS has disavowed the shouts, but as CNN noted it took him 13 seconds.   A War with IRAN might look good to Trump, it would unite the Republican Party and course discord within the Democratic Party.  One doubts that POTUS is that quick witted, also one gets the impression that Trump is risk averse or gun shy you might say.  The World will have to await  for EVENTS, EVENTS as a great UK PM once said to a young Minister, when asked what could go wrong.
