The Times: Interesting article on the VP spot with McCain. I would go for Secretary Rice, as she would appeal to women, African- Americans, to the Bush Base. President George W. Bush would lift a finger to help, it would be seen as a victory for him if she was the VP and the ticket won. So I would bet on Secretary Rice for the VP spot.

42
If forty two or a forever is needed to protect the civic society so let be, the fundamental job of government is to protect the people. The great unwashed or Guardian Readers care more about the small print, I care about the civil rights of the people to go about their business not under threat of terrorist attack, the government should what it needs to do, it has to win this argument in the House. Phone or Email your MP, if Labour recall to them they will be fighting a General Election in under two years, thus they need people to support them, they should vote for the Government.
VP spot with Obama
CNN: Reports that twenty names are on the Obama VP list, Obama needs the candidate to fill the following boxes, male or female, white, older, military or foreign policy experience, some executive experience, Governor or Mayor something in that frame. The choice has to be a looked at by the public as a balance to Obama. This is the first most important choice Obama will make, let hope he gets it right.
Iran threat to the World
Yahoo!. News: Iran has threatened serious action should it be attacked over its Nuclear Plans. The government is Iran has shown itself to be a threat to the region, it plays for time, talking about diplomacy but giving nothing, the West has tried all diplomatic paths with Iran, at end of the day, the nuclear structures in Iran have to be taken out one way or anther, lets finish it before they can attack Israel. As long as this rogue regime is in control in Iran the West is under security threat, the West should take firm military action for its own sake but also for the people of Iran.
Iran Attack ?
BBC News: Reports on the threat of further sanctions on Iran. I am convinced that Bush will either attack Iran or will allow Israel to fly over Iraq in some way before the election in November. The price of crude oil has it record levels, thus the price of petrol for cars has gone up, this could be the calm before the storm. Expect the price of Crude Oil to go up before the November Election, for Israel to give more warnings to Iran, for Iran to ignore these warnings. Between October and January expect to hear of an air attack on Iran, Bush will not allow Iran to became Nuclear before he leaves office, he is still POTUS.
Cyber War and the 08 Race
The Times: Reports on the creation of a Cyber War Room by the Obama Camp to deal with any attacks that are not true, the Obama Camp should get some advice from the Clintons, the War Room they created in 1992 was very effective as they won in 1992. Lets hope we dont hear about dirty pool from either side, two interesting canddiates with different views, it would be a pity if either side went down that road.
Electoral College
Lets have a look at what different American Media sources have the EC at the moment. These can and will change over the next few months, this early a bit of fun.
CNN News: The match up between McCain and Obama is even, CNN have the following results, Obama 190, McCain 194. This is quite early so expect different forms of the Map. Its just an bit of fun at this stage.
RCP Electoral College: At this stage of the game, Obama leads McCain. RCP has the following results, Obama 228, McCain 190. One of the states in play is Nevada, and as any West Wing fan will tell you this was the state that decided the race in the final season of the West Wing. Lets have a look at the polls in Nevada, the last poll take was in May, in that poll McCain was ahead but no polls after that, thus it would be fun if the defunct series got the Democratic and Republican nominees quite close and picked the state that gives the election to Obama.

Obama another Reagan
RCP: Interesting article that looks at the 1980 and 2008 Campaign and how Obama could be another Ronald Reagan. Reagan was seen as tough via the USSR, while the problem with Obama is that he is seen as weak, Obama needs to take a position that is counter to the Democratic base, a right wing view on something, SDI ( Star Wars ) as in support or flip on Iran or Cuba and take a tough stand, stand that will annoy his base but will get the support of Independents and moderate Republicans. Read of the Day.
Obama another Carter
First Read: Reports on a good counter punch by Senator John McCain, the Obama Camp has been stressing that McCain would be a third Bush Term, well McCain is going for the weakness of Obama, that he is seen as another Jimmy Carter. McCain has to define Obama as another weak liberal, who will raise taxes and will be weak with those that are a threat to the West. Obama has moved somewhat to the centre, with his in support of Israel and his walk back from his remarks that he would meet with the President of Iran with out conditions, he has to avoided the impression that he is another Jimmy Carter.
