Obama = Bush 43 ?

Well it seems that POTUS has found his inner Bush 43 with the following comments,I think we can all agree this is a good day for America. Our country has kept its commitment to see that justice is done. The world is safer; it is a better place because of the death of Osama bin Laden. ”. Those comments could have come from Bush 43, of course all comments by POTUS have to be seen in the context of the run up to the 2012 election. It will be interesting to see the polls in the next few days, one should see POTUS go over the 50% approval mark, depends by how much and how long it lasts.

Everything is Political - Death of OBL = 2012 Election

Guardian: Reports that POTUS used the news of the death to distance himself from the Jimmy Carter comparison that has dogged him of late, the article states the following, “ In his wording, it was clear that Obama was seeking to put to rest the comparison with Jimmy Carter,…”. But folks nothing is that new, lets recall Bush 41 had sky high polls after the First Gulf War but was out in 1992, defeated by then Governor Bill Clinton. As the Clinton Campaign Team stated it was the “ Economy stupid ”, at the end of the day the Obama re-election will be down to the economy, if unemployment is high, and the US voters feels that the Obama spending has not helped then Obama will be another Jimmy Carter. Lets recall folks this is May 2011, the election is a year and half away, the main worry for the US voter is the economy. Also the Obama Administration could have a problem, with the death of Osama Bin Laden many Americans might expect the US to leave Afghanistan, that is not going to happen soon folks. The US can not afford to give the PR battle to the Taliban of Afghanistan, also Pakistan is a major worry, a weak central government with nuclear missiles. The US will be in Afghanistan for a few more years folks, thus POTUS will have to justify that policy. Also Iraq is a lot more stable but the US can not afford for Iraq to fall in to the hands of Iran, thus POTUS might need a new agreement to keep troops in Country to prevent Iran invading, that would be a disaster for Obama. Also the Libya operation could last months, another policy to defend. It should be recalled that Bush 41 lost due to the impression that he didn’t understand the worries of main street, the main worry of main street in the debt, thus Obama cant go in to an election with a pledge to raise taxes, that would be Walter Mondale all over again. Thus Oval can expect a bounce in the polls, but it’s a long road to 2012 folks, still predict a Obama loss in 2012.

UK Alert after the Death of Osama Bin Laden

BBC News: Reports that the UK is on alert after the US killed the terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden. One has to wonder did Al Qaeda have sleeper cells in the West whose only job was to seek revenge for the death of Osama Bin Laden if caused by US military action. Lets hope the CIA, MI6, MI5 and the FBI have suspects under surveillance and can prevent any such revenge attacks. The general view of those that comment on terrorism is that Al Qaeda does not have the structure it had pre 9/11, it has become a franchise terrorist group, thus groups or individuals act under the umbrella of Al Qaeda even if the green light is not given by the surviving leadership. The Apex of the power for Al Qaeda was 9/11, the anti terrorism polices of Bush 43 followed by President Obama on the whole has gutted Al Qaeda as a proper structure. Thus it can be postulated and lets hope this prediction is right that any revenge attack will never reach the level of 9/11 or 7/7, and any planned attack can be prevent by the intelligence and police networks of the US and the UK.

Obama on the DEATH of OSAMA BIN LADEN

Great Day, Good Day for the US and the World.

The Death of Osama Bin Laden

President Obama has announced from the White House that Osama Bin Laden has been killed by US Special Forces. The leader of Al Qaeda the, the man behind 9/11 is NOW DEAD. The President stated the following on events in Pakistan,.. Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who’s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children….We quickly learned that the 9/11 attacks were carried out by al Qaeda -- an organization headed by Osama bin Laden, which had openly declared war on the United States and was committed to killing innocents in our country and around the globe. And so we went to war against al Qaeda to protect our citizens, our friends, and our allies. Over the last 10 years, thanks to the tireless and heroic work of our military and our counterterrorism professionals, we’ve made great strides in that effort. We’ve disrupted terrorist attacks and strengthened our homeland defense. In Afghanistan, we removed the Taliban government, which had given bin Laden and al Qaeda safe haven and support. And around the globe, we worked with our friends and allies to capture or kill scores of al Qaeda terrorists, including several who were a part of the 9/11 plot….And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network. Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan. And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body….The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat al Qaeda. Yet his death does not mark the end of our effort. There’s no doubt that al Qaeda will continue to pursue attacks against us. We must –- and we will -- remain vigilant at home and abroad…..So his demise should be welcomed by all who believe in peace and human dignity. Over the years, I’ve repeatedly made clear that we would take action within Pakistan if we knew where bin Laden was. That is what we’ve done. But it’s important to note that our counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan helped lead us to bin Laden and the compound where he was hiding. Indeed, bin Laden had declared war against Pakistan as well, and ordered attacks against the Pakistani people. Tonight, I called President Zardari, and my team has also spoken with their Pakistani counterparts. They agree that this is a good and historic day for both of our nations. And going forward, it is essential that Pakistan continue to join us in the fight against al Qaeda and its affiliates….as a country, we will never tolerate our security being threatened, nor stand idly by when our people have been killed. …Tonight, we give thanks to the countless intelligence and counterterrorism professionals who’ve worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome. The American people do not see their work, nor know their names. But tonight, they feel the satisfaction of their work and the result of their pursuit of justice. We give thanks for the men who carried out this operation, for they exemplify the professionalism, patriotism, and unparalleled courage of those who serve our country. And they are part of a generation that has borne the heaviest share of the burden since that September day…Let us remember that we can do these things not just because of wealth or power, but because of who we are: one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. ”. This is good news for the world but also for the Obama Administration, it shows that when it comes down to it that POTUS will follow through, one can almost hear the extreme left wing having a problem with the operation, they will argue that OBL should have been arrested, that Pakistan should have done the operation. But that is just rubbish, President Obama has protected US security but also everything is political folks, this might be the day that Obama made sure that he got that second term in 2012. As a aged UK PM said to a young Minister, there are always EVENTS, EVENTS.
