The Times: ( Hard Copy ) Reports that the Former Health Secretary Wes Streeting will fold his unofficial leadership campaign if Andy Burnham wins the by -election in Manchester.

This comes from some close to the Wes Streeting campaign, others disagree, it really depends on the Manchester by - election.  Burnham has to win in a REFORM Seat after the recent Council elections, Polls show Burnham beating Streeting in any leadership election.  If Burnham loses, it would be Starmer vs. Streeting, Polls show Starmer beating Streeting, the by - election is in June 18th.

The RAF should send armed Jets as protection, as the article notes the Russians fired unsuccessful at RAF planes before, we should send a message that any such actions by the Russians will be considered a THREAT and the armed Fighters will take defensive action, even shooting down the Russian threat.  The Russian Bear needs to have its paws clipped.

Thus more threats from Iran, whatever peace Terms the Tehran Regime has sent to the US are delusional and made to confuse Trump.  The President is erratic and wants to end the War, he wants to open the Strait of Hormuz, he needs gas prices to go down.  The Democrats are breathing down his neck, the Gulf Allies are afraid if the war restarts they will become targets.  The TACO President must act or be seen as a chicken.  The 2028 Presidential cycle will start soon, his VP needs the war over and for it to be successful.

The Labour psycho drama goes on, Burnham is running in a REFORM Manchester Seat and has to get elected first if he wants to challenge Sir Keir Starmer.   The Labour Leader is not making it easy, he has stated he is not leaving No 10.  The Burnham EU comments are in sharp contrast to Wes Streeting who wants to rejoin the EU, thus is the view of a vast majority of Labour members.  The papers are having a field day with this unofficial race.

Thus the unofficial race for the Labour Leadership has began.   The other candidates should be Andy Burnham and Angela Rayner.  One starts to feel sorry for Sir Keir, nice man but unfit to be PM.  So when will the official race start, well if Burnham wins in Manchester it should be June, all Labour polls show Burnham winning over Starmer and Streeting, so what does Starmer do, enter a race he will lose, or wait to see if Burnham wins in Manchester, in the local council elections the Seat went to Reform.  Thus the UK and the Labour Party will have months of an unofficial campaign and an official one in June, should Burnham win, that Seat.  If Starmer had any dignity he would announce his resignation and say it would be effective from the Labour Conference.  Thus give Burnham time to run and win against Streeting.  Or the PM could wait for the by-election and hope Burnham loses to Reform and polls showing his winning over Streeting, endless fun for political reporters and bloggers like this blog.

Wes Streeting resigns as Health Secretary - Update

Thus the game is afoot, Wes Streeting has resigned, will he declare that he is a leadership candidate to become PM.  One can expect that Angela Rayner and if he can find a seat, Andy Burnham to stand.  Will the PM stand and go out with some dignity, that is the question.

Update: Sky News in its 1.24pm post states  that Streeting will not call for an immediate contest, wants the PM to set out a timetable for his resignation.

Update: BBC News reports in its 5.41pm post that Andy Burnham has found a seat, will the PM try to stop him again. If he does not then he knows that Burnham will challenge him for the leadership.  What will Starmer do?   The one thing King of North has to do is win a by - election.  Reform and the Greens will make it hard for Burnham to win, the by election will be seen as a national contest.

Update: Guardian reports in its 7.00pm post that the PM will not block Andy Burnham from standing in a by - election.  Vote Burnham and DESPATCH Sir Keir could be the unofficial slogan of the Burnham Campaign, the King of the North returns to the House of Commons.

The tone of the article suggest that Streeting will NOT stand against Starmer, that the meeting is just a show that he can tell his supporters that he has talked to the PM and said things have to change.  There is nothing worse than political cowardice, he had the chance today to set off his campaign and keep the King of the North up North.   The failure to ACT will haunt him, the history is written by winners and those that take RISKS.   After today Streeting is busted flush, no will support him in the future, leaders LEAD, and if your chosen candidate is WEAK there will be others who will take the fight to Starmer, the King will have to find a safe seat and win a by-election to get back to the House of Commons.   There are a lot of ifs in the above, someone called it fantasy politics.   Thus Starmer will be with us for the duration.

Yesterday was a disaster for the Labour Party, the problem is Sir Keir, he is loathed within the Country, that is why REFORM did well, also Starmer is very pro EU, he wants the UK closer to the EU.  The Labour Party is very tribal, from the soft left to those on the right, neither side wants the candidate supporting the other to lead.  Thus no one has placed their heads above trenches to challenge Starmer.  The PM is a firm supporter of the Ukraine, this blog does not trust the mentioned candidates on the issue.  Thus Sir Keir will survive for now, bringing back yesterday's politicians is not a good idea, shows Starmer is out of ideas and does not understand the problem, its him!!

Update:Reports in its 4.54pm post below. A backbencher, Catherine West will put her name forward on Monday if no Cabinet Minister stands.  A hail Mary pass here, doubts it will be successful, RMS Starmer is heading towards that Iceberg in 2028/9.  The end of Labour?

Ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia - Update

While the World's attention has been on the Strait of Hormuz in the Middle East, the WAR that could lead WW3 has been on going, Russia hitting the Ukraine with Drones and missiles, with no concern towards innocent casualties, and the Ukraine pushing the Russians back in the Donbas.  The Russians only want a ceasefire as on May 9th they celebrate their win over Nazi Germany, the grander ceremonies of the past have been replaced with just soldiers due to the worry that the Ukraine would attack any tanks on the parade.  Also reported Putin is afraid of assassination or a coup from his own side.  That is the problem if your tyrant.

Thus more strikes in the Strait of Hormuz, both sides will blame the other.  Two Iranian tankers trying to make Iranian ports and thwart the American blockade of Iran.  The US is still waiting for the Tehran response to their peace proposal.  Why the delay, very fishy or Tehran is playing games and are trying to place pressure on a very erratic US President.  That is not a good idea with Trump's fingers on the trigger.
