Israel has to take Southern Lebanon as the Iran Terror linked Hezbollah uses the South as a location to fire missiles at Israel, Jerusalem should not be put off by Western reaction, they do not faced being bombed daily.  Israel can mend fences later, as long as they are supported by the USA, they can do what they like in the Middle East.

At least the sides are taking through Pakistan, they might have different agendas and only one side can win, if Tehran is allowed to win the Gulf States would be under threat all the time, the Western economy would be at the mercy of Tehran, no Western politican could be sure about the state of inflation  when it comes to food and oil prices.  US has to win.
