The New York Times: Reports " For ‘Buffy’ Fans, Another Reckoning With the Show’s Creator...Many fans said they are trying to reconcile accusations of misogyny against Joss Whedon, the creator of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” with their love of a show that celebrated female empowerment. "
Lets Get Real:
This blog was not as shocked as it seems the rest of the World was when the allegations came out against Mr Whedon, the Creator of Buffy, in the day, this blogger once read an article that had Mr Whedon saying that SMG had gone off to do her porn movie, it was in fact cruel intentions, a update of the film Dangerous Liaisons. One would not need to be that clever to work out that there was tensions on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Let's return to the start, when the first series of Buffy came out, this blog gave it a pass, how could one really watch a series called Buffy, then this blogger started to read the good reviews that the series had, so when it had the chance this blogger watched the series from start, the characters were great with in depth stories, of course if one is a big of romantic, one would have to love the the romance between the Buffy and the vampire with a soul Angel, then there was Willow coming out, and her relationship with Tara, very moving, and of course the episode when Mrs Summer died, VERY moving. Thus the present allegations, does the creator alleged miss deeds have a negative view on this blog. The answer is YES and NO, it will remind this blogger when Angel lost his soul again and Angelus was reborn, in a harsh episode, Cordy tried to get a job in acting and EVERYONE of her friends said she was awful but kept it to themselves, while Angelus was truthful, was that Mr Whedon being cruel, it is a question.
Thus we come to the counter argument, the cast could always resign, they were not joined to the show, also Charisma Carpenter moved form Buffy to Angel, she could have said NO. This blog does not recall any rumours at the time, by actions that held to be negative by the crew or cast. Thus this blogger will enjoy watching Buffy, but will try work out, is Mr Whedon be cruel to the characters or the actors. One does wish people would speak up at the time, what are the non legal statue of limitations when it comes to the arts.
