Guardian: Reports " David Cameron: I will stay as PM if I lose EU referendum..Prime minister says his authority rests on holding the vote on British membership, not winning it "
Lets Get Real:
I would think if David Cameron is on the losing side of the EU Referendum this year that he would have to go, for a PM to lose on such a major policy would undermine his authority as PM. Also the PM has stated that he is not running in 2020, thus the Conservative Party will need a new leader before 2020, and to be fair a new leader would have to have some time to bed in, so if its out for UK, then one can argue that it will be out for David Cameron. Of course the runners and riders are getting ready, a policy failure like the EU would push Cameron out bit early, that is the nature of the political beast, it does support losers.
