PM Starmer is being pushed out by Andy Burnham, thus he is leaving him a explosive political present.  The UK could be at war with Russia in a few years over the Baltic States or Poland.  Thus WW3 could be around the corner, and the UK is not ready, due to Conservative and Labour failures over the years.  Thus PM Andy Burnham needs to learn fast.

Thus the game is afoot, Wes Streeting has resigned, will he declare that he is a leadership candidate to become PM.  One can expect that Angela Rayner and if he can find a seat, Andy Burnham to stand.  Will the PM stand and go out with some dignity, that is the question.

Update: Sky News in its 1.24pm post states  that Streeting will not call for an immediate contest, wants the PM to set out a timetable for his resignation.

Update: BBC News reports in its 5.41pm post that Andy Burnham has found a seat, will the PM try to stop him again. If he does not then he knows that Burnham will challenge him for the leadership.  What will Starmer do?   The one thing King of North has to do is win a by - election.  Reform and the Greens will make it hard for Burnham to win, the by election will be seen as a national contest.

Update: Guardian reports in its 7.00pm post that the PM will not block Andy Burnham from standing in a by - election.  Vote Burnham and DESPATCH Sir Keir could be the unofficial slogan of the Burnham Campaign, the King of the North returns to the House of Commons.

Talks TENSE between Russia and Ukraine - Russia

Sky News: Reports in its 7.05pm post that Russia has stated that the talks between themselves and the Ukraine was TENSE.

Let's Get Real:

The Kyiv Government should not allow themselves to be intermediated by Moscow or bullied by President Trump.   The Trump Oval wants a quick peace deal and good headlines, President Trump once stated that the Ukraine has NO CARDS, as usual Trump is WRONG, the Ukraine has Europe, who know if the Ukraine falls they are next targets of Putin, it has to be stated that President of the Ukraine has offered a Referendum and elections in the Spring, based on signed security guarantees by the US and Europe, this would include the Coalition of the Willing who are ready to place troops in the Ukraine as a security guarantee against Russia coming back for more in a few years time, this assuming the people of the Ukraine agree to the Donbas being part of Russia, that is not certain that they would support such a deal, whatever Trump wants.  Europe must always have the back of the Ukraine, even if that means an increase in defence spending, that will drive the left of the Labour Party nuts, they just want welfare and appease Russia.

Lets talk about the elephant in the room, the Labour Party under Sir Keir will win tomorrow, its a simple lesson, that Governments lose elections, and this case it can be argued that Sir Keir did not win it, one is just waiting for a crisis to come, and it will show that the Labour support is shallow.  At least he is a Knight of the Realm, he will know how to behave at Royal Dinners.  Labour is going to blow it big time, how will they get the money want if they have promised not to increase taxes, the OAP with savings will get hit, they have been warned and have not listened.  All Labour Governments lead the UK to a financial crisis, the trade unions want their polices acted upon, the best day of Sir Keir's career stats tomorrow and Friday, its down hill from there PM. No one ever listens to Cassandra of NORTH WALES.

It was a scrappy debate, it seemed that the PM wanted it more, Sir Keir went on and on about his record as a Prosecutor, do you really think that President Putin will care, should the crisis in the Ukraine get worse.  There were not questions on foreign policy, the questions were all on domestic issues, it ca be fair to say that Starmer was all image and no substance as when he comes PM next Thursday, the crisis's developed, there will be no real support for him.    In other words when the reality of the World comes knocking they will find a PM will shallow support but with a Super Majority, this will be 1997 but worse, Labour could be in power for 20 years, and they will do what they usually do as my friend said, " a Shit show " after 18 months, the gleam will have come off, immigration of the illegal kind will rise, taxes will go up and the people cant complain, they gave Labour a super majority, of over 200.    It will take about 15 to 20 years to get rid of them, the UK VOTER has been told, I do not want to hear that non one told them.   The people get the Government they deserve!

This blog thought it was draw, but one can argue that Sunak WON, his charge that Labour would raise taxes by 2,000 for everybody in the UK, hit home and the Labour Leader did not come up with a clear rebuke.   This blog was shocked that the Ukraine did not come up, what happens if Russia wins in the Ukraine, what will Sir Keir do then, he keeps going on about him time as Director of Prosecutions, what will he do about the WAR CRIMINAL Putin.   One does hope security comes up in the next debate.   Also the Scottish Question, what will Labour do about Scotland.   THIS is going to be long campaign, Labour will win with a big majority, the question can you trust them on security and the defence of the realm.

Biden closes the US Border with Mexico to illegals - 2024 Candidates/General Election - Biden Era

 I did watch the debate between the Labour Leader and future PM Sir Keir Starmer and the outgoing PM Sunak.  The debate was  a draw, the Labour Party is going to WIN BIG in July, the biggest Majority since 1924.  There is nothing that the Conservatives can do, 14 years in power is long enough, the next Labour Government could be in power for 15 years, that is the point of a BIG MAJORITY, it was take a few election cycles to get them out.   Also let's not forget the Ukraine, WW3 could be down the road!!  The UK voter cannot say that they were not told.

The Republicans have stated for ages that the Biden Oval has the legal authority to close the border, it has taken the fact that Biden is sinking in the polls to ACT.   At least this will remove a political arrow from the Republicans, and the Biden Oval can say that that order would have more force if the US Congress had passed the original Biden plan.  Thus far the political polls are tied, one would think that a Party Nominee who has been convicted of a Crime, would fall away in the polls, that has not happened, could it be that the American people have made their mind up about POTUS and it is not good.  It will be interesting to see the polls at the weekend.

This could be the first international crisis that Sir Keir could face as PM, what if the Russians throw one more and final offensive and declare a ceasefire in the Ukraine, the Kyiv begs the US and the UK for permission to use Western weapons in Russia, what if Trump wins in November and washes his hands of the Ukraine, the money has to come from somewhere and also the arms. The Baltic States and Poland will be ringing the bell alarm, what if the Ukraine is not the last war that Putin has on his mind.  This could lead WW3 if the West is not careful, will Sir Keir be Neville Chamberlain  or Churchill, time will tell.

UK General Election on July 4th - The Next Labour Government - Starmer Era

The PM has gone early, it is reported on Sky News that he feared letters going in to the 1922 Committee, he could have waited in January 2025, he either thinks he has a chance, the polls show him the Conservatives losing by 20% to Labour, or he wants to make the Conservative Party and its factions sorry, as they will lose members.  This blog will take an interest in Labour's Foreign policy and Defence, just in case they go nuts again.   The news media will try to make it a competitive race, it wont be, the Country is tired after 13 and half years of Conservative rule, so they want a change, Labour might find wining is not that much fun with WW3 on the horizon, will Sir Keir press that red button if he has too, what about immigration and the welfare budget.  There will be endless press coverage, this blog will be selective as not to bore the reader.

Lets Get Real:

If Sky is right, then the Labour Party under Sir Keir Starmer will not have an overall majority, that is a concern but then the Liberal Democrats will give LABOUR  a supply and support motion, in other words Liberal Dems will support a Labour Budget, but will not want to go in to coalition as they will have learned from 2010.   If that does not happen there are others Parties who might support Labour just to keep the Conservative OUT.  The Party of Thatcher needs a few years in Opposition to decide what it is for and against.   The Party should think about bringing back Boris as leader if he wants the job.   One can expect Labour will make a mess of it, they usually do, the Conservatives can clear up the mess, Starmer is no Blair, and this will not be 1997 all over again.

Thus we have the allegation that it was the Chancellor pusing for a Swiss - style relationship with the EU, the TREASURY agenda is to get us back in to the EU, they were firmly in the REMAIN CAMP with their scare stories in the 2016 vote, and they are using the after effects of COVID - 19 and the WAR IN THE UKRAINE as a diversion to get us back in to the EU.  UK recent political history is full of rows between the No 10 and No 11.  The PM if he wants to keep the loyalty of the right of the Conservative Party needs to have a word with his Chancellor, the PM can't sack him, it would make the UK look MAD as  HATTER to have gone through a few Chancellors in the last few months, 3 at the last count if I recall, when Sunak resigned, he was replaced by PM Boris, after Liz Truss was elected she had a new Chancellor, and finally Sunak has placed Jeremy Hunt at No 11.  If there are rows between both me, it should be done behind close doors, otherwise the media will run with the story that the Government is falling apart.  Sunak is not my favourite PM, he backstabbed Boris, but he should be given a chance, if nothing else the economy needs stability.  Thus UK population has a HARD WINTER coming, in economic terms, thus they should expect stability in Government or the Conservatives might as well hand power to Sir Keir Starmer.

Thus the farce of the Liz Truss Era comes to an end, the Country needs a General Election, the UK needs stability, the Conservative Party needs a few years in Opposition, the Party has to find its soul, the Conservative Party is about limited Government and smaller taxes.  The PM started to quick, she should have bought in some of the Sunak supporters in to her Cabinet at the start, Lady Thatcher in her early years had a few wets in the Cabinet, before she didn't them.  The great Lady T liked good arguments in Cabinet, but she made sure she had the numbers in Cabinet to get her arguments through.  PM Truss rushed her agenda, and has put it back by years.  This blog is calling for a General Election, the UK needs stability, in this case that is the Labour Party.  This blog will not support the Conservatives if they place Sunak in Charge, he backstabbed Boris, that is too much for this blog.

This does feel like AUSTERITY PART 2, the furlough during has added four hundred billion to the UK's debt, and now the Chancellor stated yesterday that the gas price cap will only go up to April next year.  It has been postulated that the 3% increase in defence spending will be splashed, also what happens about April of next year, is the Government really going to allow the price that people pay for gas to go up in the thousands without helping, what about business, it looks like it's going to be very a COLD WINTER, and now Turkeys are under threat from bird flu, what good deed the UK do get this kind of mess on hour hands, 4 chancellors in four months, a PM in office but not in power.  The Country should expect some tough cuts, even the NHS and benefits might not rise with inflation, as that would cost a fortune.  It might be time for a LABOUR GOVERNMENT, never thought I would write those words.

The one major difference between 1972 and 2022, is the fact that Liz Truss is from the Thatcher school for tough leadership, also the Barber boom lasted eighteen months, enough time for a General Election and Unions are not as powerful as they were once, Heath took on the miners, there are no more mines for miners, only those in private hands, also since everyone is going green, there are other areas to get power to the grid, no more 3 day week as there was in the 1970s.  The Conservative Governments have made it harder to go on strike, and the new mini budget has reforms in this area, strikes will only be allowed if any deal offered has been placed before the members of Unions, before a strike is legal.  This mini budget will make it harder for the Labour Party, the Party can hardly go in to an election with tax hikes, as everyone knows that after the rich get clobbered is the middle class that has to pay the debts of the Labour Party.  Thus this was a good mini Budget, the Conservatives are back!

This is what Conservative Governments are elected to do, CUT TAXES for the individual and for business, the Chancellor has cut 1p off tax for individuals and revoked last years new NI rate to help the NHS and social care.  The Truss Government should go further, in the Budget in November there should be more tax cuts, also it should be recalled that there is a energy cap over the next two years that will help with the cost of living crisis, the Government help covers all people, the previous Chancellor stated that even people on forty five thousand a year would have to curb their belts.  This new economic agenda, will show that there is clear blue water between the Conservatives and Labour Party, the Conservatives are the Party of LOWER TAXES for ALL, while the Labour Party is the Party of HIGH TAXES, will the Labour say that they will cut taxes at the next election, one doubts, the Labour Party always want to spend, Sir Keir Starmer is going to miss former PM Boris!

Truss Government to CAP Energy Costs = 150 Billion - Truss Era/After Boris/After Brexit

Lets Get Real:

PM Truss is going BIG, she knows that this decision on a cap on energy prices will either lift her in the polls, ready for the 2024 general election or it will sink her.  The freeze of gas prices should go down well with the voters, and help for business will save jobs.  Also inflation will go down.  The cost of the scheme, will be paid by future generations, life is tough, but then in the decades ahead, most of us will be pushing up the daises, thus not our problem.  The Labour Party will find it hard to argue that the scheme is WRONG, the Truss Government is nicking their idea, that is the problem with Opposition, you might come up with a good idea, then the Government takes it on and their idea.  The Labour Party wants a windfall tax, Truss has said a CLEAR NO, this is against Conservative theory, the Chancellor Sunak has already taxed the companies with a windfall tax, this was opposed by Truss in her leadership contest with Sunak.  The polls will be interesting, one would think that the Conservatives would narrow the lead with Labour, also the tax cuts should also gain support.  Thus far so good for Truss. 

PM Boris on Liz Truss winning the Conservative Party Leadership Contest - After Boris/After Brexit

Let really hopes that the PM Boris means the above, he had to face former PM May who is fast becoming the Ted Heath of the Conservative Party, a leader who cannot get over losing the leadership.  One does hope that Boris does not want to be a backseat driver, like Thatcher wanted with Sir John Major.  That was a disaster for the Major while he was PM.  The fact is that Boris, is a very charismatic leader and he is very young, thus he can come back later on if he wants too.  The Conservative  Party needs to look forward and not back, thus the UK needs tax cuts, we have the highest tax rate in 70 odd years.  The last time they were that high was in 1949 under a Labour Government.  Also PM Truss needs to go big on the cost of living, it has been suggested that the Government will freeze energy costs, that will cost one hundred billion, yes BILLION, at some point the British people must not expect the Government to bail them out, this is not this time, we have just come through the pandemic and supporting the Ukraine in its war against Russia.  Thus the energy hikes by Russia.  It is going to be a tough couple of months for new PM Liz. 

Liz Truss the NEXT UK PM - After Boris - After Brexit

Lets Get Real:

If the former Chancellor Rishi Sunak had any common sense, he would withdraw from the race, he is NOT GOING TO WIN, if he pulled out of the race then Liz Truss could form a new Government and do something to help with the Cost of Living Crisis, the Conservative Party will never give the keys on No10 to someone who stabbed PM BORIS in the back, the members still want Boris to be PM.  It is reported that Liz Truss has stated that that she would have Sunak in her Cabinet, one presumes it is about keeping your enemies close.  The Conservative Government needs to get the public back on their agenda, this means TRUSS and her support for tax cuts.  The Conservative Party over the last few years has not been Conservative enough, we have the highest tax rate since 1949 and the Labour Government.  Thus the Country expects tax cuts from Truss, and to be tough with the EU.
