How DUMB to you have to be to be a British PM, of course Al Qaeda will back, the Taliban have just released five thousand prisoners from the Jail at the the former US/Allied base.  One does not have to be Henry Kissinger to see that the terror elements will be back in Afghanistan faster than you can say Taliban.  Al Qaeda and the Taliban are the same thing, what in the earth is the PM going on about.  The PM should have stood alone, Churchill and Lady Thatcher would have, and they are considered great, they never ran from a fight.  The Conservative Party really needs a new LEADER, some with the backbone to defend UK interests.   This has been a shameful day if your American or British.

This blog always thought it was a mistake for former PM Theresa May to stay in the in the House of Commons after she was forced out by her backbench MPs.  The former PM is angry at being forced out of job she loved, that the House of Commons rejected her agreement by vast numbers.  The article reports that while having a go at the present PM she also went after the leader of the Opposition for playing political games, her deal was a far softer Brexit and it was rejected by the Labour Party, one can see why she is angry, as noted previously in this blog, the Labour Party was under orders to vote for the Boris Deal, if they had voted for the May deal then history might have been different, very different.  The PM should consider offering May a Seat in the Lords, then she can states her views but not seen as another Edward Heath who had the longest hump with Lady Thatcher when she replaced him as Conservative leader and later as PM.

The PM is showing firmness, the way you would expect Churchill or Thatcher to behave, the REMAIN PRESS are confused, they always think the EU is in the right, and that the UK should give way.  The UK has been VERY CLEAR, as to what it wants, a free trade deal like the relationship that the EU has with Canada, in fact it should be better, we were a member for 45 years, and thus our business rules follow the EU rules, the EU is playing games, it does this all time, get countries in to talks, and at the end force them to accept what the EU, not this time, the UK voter has been firm with the 2016 vote and then in 2019 with the general election. We want out, and on our terms, the French President can get his knickers in a twist in his own time.

The poll reminds this blog of a story it read, Margaret Thatcher was told by a staffer that the Labour Party was ahead in a poll, the Iran Lady stated, they should have a bigger lead.  That is real leadership.  One does wonder the real effect of Sir Keir Starmer on voters, he might be to London Remain centric for old Labour voters and he might be wanting to be the heir to Tony Blair to much by new voters.  Also there will not be an election in till 2024, if the Government gets rid of the Fixed Term Parliament Act then the PM can call an election when he wants.   The problems with the ACT were shown during the early months of the Johnson Premiership, the PM should have the final say on a General Election.

It can be argued that the Conservative Government has come under extreme pressure to have another economic recovery plan due to the introduction of new restrictions due to COVID - 19, like the closure of pubs and restaurants.  Those industries such as pubs need people to go out, the introduction of a leisure curfew will mean that some pubs and restaurants will go to the WALL as they will not be able to cope for six months with the restrictions.  Lady Thatcher it can be argued would have taken a tougher line, her Government cut Government spending in the 1980s, there were riots but Lady T kept her nerve and did not bend.   It has to be stated that the Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer is starting to look like a future PM, problem is that he has to wait in till 2024, a  week is a long time in politics.

The EU is playing us ALONG, they hope we will get tired and just agree to an agreement that suits the EU.   PM Boris has to be firm, its our way or the high road,and we do not care much either way by NOW.  The EU has never had a country leaves its structure, so it has 27 heads of Government wanting different things, the French and the Germans want access to UK fish in UK waters, as if the UK has not left the EU.   The UK has to be firm, no faint of heart as the 5th Doctor used to say ( Doctor Who, 5th Doctor ) or Lady Thatcher said, you may U - turn the Lady is not for turning.  The UK decided in 2016 and confirmed in 2019 that the UK wants to cut ties with the EU.

It is postulated that the those out of work due to COVID - 19 could reach between three and four million, that will make the early 1980s Thatcher look like happy hour.  Thus as a British PM once said, British jobs for British people will come in to effect.   Those working in the care sector have a difficult and stressful job, and it can take it out of you, your there at the end of someone's life, and with COVID - 19 it has been even more stressful.   Thus a solution is needed, the care workers must get more pay, above the living allowance, no matter their age, and their work should be treated as a profession.   Thus you can influence those out of work to take up these jobs, so you solve two problems at once, unemployment and the care sector.  Sometimes a crisis can give you a reason to do something you should have done before.

This was a good speech by the Chancellor, it will help business, get people back in to work before they become lifers ON THE DOLE.  That a Conservative Chancellor  is spending such money shows that the PM and Cabinet have accepted that the only way to protect the economy is to OPEN THE WALLET.  The DEBT will paid off by future generations, those that will receive the benefit will either be VERY OLD by this time or dead.  Jeremy Corbyn must have wished that he had delayed supporting an election in December, the Conservatives have found that magic spending tree that he used to write his Manifesto for the 2019 general election.   The UK could not have gone through another ten year austerity to pay for the funding today, overall all the Government is spending 350 billion on its various schemes, from the furlough to today's spending the UK books will be full of red print, as in debt.   The UK should have tax cuts in the next budget, that will get the economy going, the government is reacting to a prediction that at the end of October the Country is facing its worse recession/depression in three hundred years, the 1980s will look like happy hour by comparison.   There are tough times ahead!

Lady Thatcher had millions out of work, the State on the whole does not MAKE JOBS, it can help in job creation, but government work is not the long term answer, look at the end of the coal mines and the steel industry.   The sectors that makes jobs are in the private sector, these jobs are self created, because there is a demand for their products.  Thus the Johnson Government must be wary of seeking to please the BBC/GUARDIAN types who want to spend other people's money on short term job schemes that hurt the economy and do not show the real picture of the economy.   There needs to be tax cuts, reduction in VAT, after BREXIT, make the UK the country to be when seeking to build a business.  It would be folly for the Government to try to outspend Labour, the Labour Party is tarnished by that image, the UK voter wants a Conservative Government to be honest, if its bad, just say its going to be Bad, PEOPLE like honesty not BS. 

The 2 Metre Rule under Question? - COVID - 19- Health/Economy

Lets Get Real:

The UK economy has become a service economy over the years, the pubs and restaurants will find it hard to do the 2 metre rule, also some EU countries are imposing a 1 metre to 1.5 Metre distance.   The PM should take a tough decision and scrap the 2 metre rule, that would save the service industries and save jobs.  If there are 3.5 million unemployed, it will be a major shock to the economic system and to the young starting out in the workforce.   Those that recall the 1980s, know it was a tough period, but then we had a great PM in Lady Thatcher, will PM Boris be able to match Churchill and Thatcher, on truly hopes so, otherwise the UK will be in big trouble. 

The Government to HELP the self employed - COVID - 19 Update 1 - Health

Lets Get Real:

The question that has to be asked, after COVID -  19 is OVER, who is going to pay back the costs of paying 80% of the wages of those employed and 80% of the profits of those in self employment.  In essence who is going to pay the piper, one assumes the Government will borrow the money to save the UK economy, the interests rates are ZERO, what happens when interest rates goes up and the Government will have to pay for these loans that means taxes!  The question is who will pay, of course the middle class, the big companies always have great tax accountants, they will be able to write off the debt.  At some point someone has to say, HOLD ON, the UK government in essence will own the UK economy, Lady Thatcher will be turning in her grave!  The Conservative Party has to remember it's the CONSERVATIVE PARTY not the socialist Labour Party.

One has doubts that the great Lady saw Blair as part of her Era, the domestic reforms such as the minimum wage wage and the granting of a Parliament to Scotland and a Assembly for Wales was not part of the Thatcher mind set.   One can not understand why it's OKAY in the Labour Party  to diss the last Labour Government but give Corbyn high marks, he failed at two General Elections. One can assume that Lisa Nandy is using this rhetoric to gain support in the left wing base of the  Party.   That is a mistake, Leaders like Thatcher LEAD, Nandy has not learned that lesson.

It was a great performance by PM Boris, he took the fight to the House of Commons, he was helped by AG who called Parliament DEAD.  As the PM stated on many times, the Surrender Act that the RUMP Parliament pushed through before suspension had not helped in his talks with the EU, the Surrender Act, pushed through by HARD REMAINERS showed why this House of Commons is held in such contempt, they are weak, they can not take the HEAT IN THE KITCHEN, they want safe zones to chat, would you want these women, and some even claim to be men in a trench with you, at the first shot they would be running away.  It is no wonder that Universities have so many snowflakes, they can not take debate, they claim to be liberal, but they are VERY ILLIBERAL, they are appeasers and kneel before the EU, Lady Thatcher would have had NONE of them in her Cabinet, they are just WEAK, WEAK, one wonders if they would get a real job outside the House of Commons, I would not hire them, when things are BAD, you want loyalty and devotion Queen and Country, they fall at the floor at there mere mention of the EU.  Let's take the political fight to them, they want abuse the rules, let's abuse them back, declare a State of Emergency and have an election, that would finish off this rabble.

Let's be CLEAR, Ronald Reagan was one  of the greatest Presidents in US history, and as Lady Thatcher said won the cold war without firing a shot.  As the article notes Reagan used US Armed Forces when Iran attacked US interests, the President understood that bullies have to be countered, and let's be honest he tried to talk to Iran, thus Iran - Contra, when that did not work and Iran was shown to be a bad actor in, Reagan responded attacks from Iran  with force, let's recall Reagan's VP won 1988 US Presidential Election, no VP had successful won the Oval after a two term President in 152 years and nonce since.  Donald Trump will never be a REAGAN, he will be lucky to win  a 2nd term, he is the modern Neville Chamberlain and the Middle East is the modern Munich.  If you appease you LOSE in all kind of ways. 

General Election in September or October - Election 2019?

This blog does not trust the House of Commons and its Speaker, they will find someway to BLOCK BREXIT, they do not play by the rules, thus neither should Boris, even if he loses a No  Confidence vote he should not resign, as the House of Commons passed the fixed term Parliament Act there is no need, there is a 14 day intervention for another Government to be formed.   Thus Boris should take us out of the EU and then have an election, do the people want to go back to the EU and accepting the Euro and not getting our money back under a Lady Thatcher's deal in the 1980s.   The election would be the people versus the House of Commons, also will Labour MPs from LEAVE Seats really fancy an election, that is the question the REMAINERS should be asking themselves. 

It's back, BREXIT - Brexit Update 1 - NO BREXIT

Well Easter is over and the MPs are back after their recess.  Thus we are back to BREXIT.  The PM needs a DEAL with Labour, the general commentary is that neither side really want a deal, they just do not want to be the side that end the talks.  Thus if these talks fail the PM could bring the issue back to the House of Commons for indicative and binding votes, to see what the House of Commons will support.   The PM also face County elections and the EU elections, these are looking like a DISASTER in the making, the PM has very few allies and could face the CHOP sooner than she expects.   The Conservatives are rather good at dethroning PM's, they make Games of Thrones look like a tea party when it comes to being ruthless, even the great Lady T was pushed out at the end by her CABINET, and she was the greatest PM since Churchill. 

The Likely End Result of Brexit - Norway Plus - Brexit Update 3 - NO BREXIT

Lets Get Real:

Thus if this blog understands it, Norway Plus would mean the UK staying the single market, ( this was the idea of the UK, under Lady Thatcher, she was rather proud of it ) and having a customs union with the EU.  As stated this blog is not much concerned about the economic side of BREXIT, so does not really have a problem with the freedom movement, this might not go down well with some who voted in 2016 for BREXIT.   As long as the UK is out of the political union with the EU.  After PM May either resigns or is forced out the next Conservative Leader might be able to change the board, if the Conservative Party is still in Government and wins a general election, a new Conservative PM with a mandate can go for a NO DEAL BREXIT.   Politics does not stop, nothing is forever, no Parliament can bind another Parliament or Government, if they have the votes.   At least the constant BREXIT NEWS will be over and we get ready for the Mueller Report from the US.  

A Bias Speaker ? - Brexit Update 1 - NO BREXIT

As predicted a Bias Speaker is moving the UK towards staying in the EU.

BBC News: Reports " Speaker John Bercow has thrown the UK's Brexit plans into further confusion by ruling out another vote on the PM's deal unless MPs are given a new motion.  "

Lets Get Real:

The Speaker is bias, that has been known for ages, this latest ruling is moving for the UK to stay in the EU against the wishes of the UK voter.  If the PM was a strong character like Lady Thatcher the Speaker would not DARE do something like this, Lady T's reaction would not have been good.   If PM May was a strong character she would ask the Queen to prorogue Parliament in till April, thus allow the UK to leave the EU on March 29th as it is in law. Of course no wants to place the Queen in this position, on the other hand, the voters voted to leave the EU in 2016, Parliament is stuck, the Speaker is biased, and the Government is WEAK. For the health of the Democracy the Queen should take ACTION, either prorogue Parliament ( suspend ) or revoke Article 50. The Queen is Sovereign, her decision would be final, and accepted by the public. At the end of the day there is one person more important than the Speaker and that is the QUEEN.

It's My Deal or No Brexit, PM May - Brexit Update 4 - Post Brexit or No Brexit

IF the PM was really ruthless she could threaten to revoke Brexit, it's within her power, of course it would mean the end of her time in 10 Downing Street, but it could get her deal through.   Of course the problem is that PM May is not a natural politician.  Thus it will be interesting to see by how much her deal goes down by tonight.  One can see a lot of Conservative MPs holding their noses either in voting for the deal or not voting.  In reality many MPs want the deal to go through without their fingerprints on them.  One can postulate that is the secret view of Jeremy Corbyn, the Leader of the Labour Party.   There is talk of a 3rd meaning vote, goodness gracious, AGAIN!! Even this HARD BREXIT supporter and political geek is getting BORED with the issue, someone needs to LEAD.   As predicted some time ago the HARD REMAINERS have won, thus we either get a soft brexit or a 2nd Brexit vote that manipulated in way that REMAIN can only WIN.   Lady T must be turning in her grave!
