Sky News: Reports in its 12.04pm post that Sir Keir Starmer has stated in the Hoise of Commons that before UK troops are placed in the Ukraine the House of Commons will get a vote.

The above only happens if Putin agrees to the new deal, there are doubts thar Kremlin will go along with the Deal, Russia is gradually gaining in the Donbas, and the Kremlin does not want NATO Troops in the Ukraine.  Thus deal might never happen, but Starmer has kept on the good side of Trump, always a good idea when comes to erratic Trump.

It was great see the King back at work, why the King has to meet his PM in person is beyond this blog, the PM has Question Time on Wednesdays, 650 MPs, God knows what they have been up too, and the extra germs they carry, one does hope the PM is tested for COVID before seeing the King.  The King could see the PM via webcam or on the phone, the King is known as a workaholic, he has he his red boxes every night, he has documents to sign etc. The King must be tired with his work and getting cancer treatment, and there is always the Duke of Sussex to worry about. GOD SAVE THE KING.

DUP a NO on the Windsor Framework - After Boris/After Brexit

The DUP are very hard to please, they will vote against part of the deal that allows them to block future EU regulation, they want to say No to past rules, they seem unable to accept that they won, that goes for the ERG too, it has been reported that Boris will not support the Government on this issue, Boris has dreams of coming back as leader of the Conservative Opposition should PM Sunak lose the 2024 general election.  The former PM will be lucky if he is found not guilty of not telling the truth  to the House and suspended, its is reported that the PM will Conservative MPs a free vote on the issue, with the Opposition supporting the decision and most Conservatives voting against him, Boris could find himself suspended from the House and face a recall election.   Thus more internal civil wars in the Conservative Party from Brexit to Boris, its never boring in UK politics.  The UK might like a boring Sir Keir in charge, be careful for what you wish for voters. 

EU President to meet King Charles - After Brexit/After Boris

BBC News ( TV ) reports that the EU President is to meet King Charles after Brexit talks with PM.

Let's Get Real:

The PM wants to use the King's meeting as to show Royal Approval for the new BREXIT DEAL, thus place pressure on the DUP and the ERG.  It has been reported by Buckingham Palace that the meeting is at the request of the Government.  Thus is a wise move by the King, in case Sunak has produced a dud.   As Sky News reports the PM will give a speech to the House of Commons at 6.30pm, it will be interesting to see the atmosphere of the House, the devil is in the details.

Three line WHIP or Civil War within the Conservative Party over the Northern Ireland Protocol - After Boris/After Brexit

This is either a NEW DAWN in the history of Northern Ireland or we are back in to the civil war that is BREXIT, whatever deal that has been agreed by the PM and EU, it must get the backing of the DUP.  Otherwise the PM will be seen as a sell out to the Union Cause.  Either the UK is sovereign in the province or it is the EU.  A distant ECJ might not go down well with the ERG or the DUP.  These endless Brexit debates must stop, it might need for a Labour Government to solve the problem, they will not care what the DUP thinks or the the ERG.   In many respects the PM is on a hiding to nothing, someone down the line will not be happy, the hope that Sunak must have is that it will a be small majority in opposition.  Thus the curtain will come down on Monday or we will have a civil war in the Conservative Party ALL over again and Boris might become PM again, you never know.

PM Sunak can not afford to lose his backbench MP's and have Cabinet resignations.  That would be the end of him, as happened to PM's May, Johnson, Truss, therefore the PM must come back with a clear win from EU talks, the DUP must be squared, thus keep his own MP's happy.

The PM has less than two years to the next election, Labour have a 18 point lead in the polls, thus the PM needs tax cuts and a UNITED Conservative Party, that means getting his BREXIT MP's on the same page as him.   There is still time for Sunak to prevent another 1997 type loss, the ICEBERG is the EU and the Northern Ireland Protocol. A week is a long time in politics!!!

The visit by the President of the Ukraine was a good move, it keeps the Ukraine in the news, also it helps with the Ukraine demands for planes, one would not be shocked if sooner than later the UK will give the Ukraine some fighter jets, the only problem is that a Ukrainian Crew will need to be trained on how to use them in battle, the requests for planes has lead to some slow marching by 10 Downing Street, at least the PM has given way on training pilots for the Ukraine.   The visit by the President to the King, shows how much the UK supports the Ukraine, also the story is not about the Duke of Sussex for once, that is an on going drama.  The Ukraine President is off to Europe after his UK visit, one does wonder, might the French pull something and give him planes, they are the French after all, one never knows what Paris is up to.  The visit by the President of the Ukraine to the UK will not go down well with the Russians, they will see it as a CLIENT PRESIDENT visiting his Masters, the UK and the US, the President has already gone to the US.  The Ukraine needs tanks and quickly and also fighter jets.  They have to win, there can not be another result.

Getting rid of EU Laws from UK Law - After Brexit/After Boris

The UK House of Commons passed the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill and know it goes to the House of Lords, there House of Lords should be called the House of Remainers, expect the Remainers to try to change the bill, they want to keep EU law in the hope that the UK will rejoin, this looks like a stupid idea, since even Sir Keir Starmer has accepted that the UK will not go back in to the EU, thus it can be postulated that Brexit is save with both the Conservatives and Labour Parties.  Once the House of Lords changes the above bill there changes can either be thrown out or accepted by the House of Commons, as the Conservatives have a good majority they should be able to push it through.  The UK people have made it CLEAR that they want the UK out of the EU, and it's about time the House of Lords accepted that, or else it might be time to abolish them, it's only a home for failed politicians.

The King should not be dragged in to this, it's a argument between the rest of the UK and Scotland, as to the move by UK Government this blog supports the move and would suggest 21 should be the minimum age before someone can change their gender in legal terms.   This blog was an idiot before it turned 21, it was simple and did not understand the real world, therefore 21 should be the starting age for such change.  The Scottish First Minister has lost the plot, she has started to believe her own spin, never a good by a politician and she wants to make Scotland Independent of the rest of the UK, this blog is not sure that she could win a referendum on the issue, is this a case of the left going well off the reservation and knowing that FACT.  Good move by the UK Government, so who holds the power, and it's not the Scottish Parliament when it comes to this issue.  

PM Boris Johnson Survives No Confidence Vote - After Brexit

Both BBC News and Sky News have stated that the PM did not match the level of support that PM May got in 2018, it does not matter, the PM is safe for another year, and those that voted against the PM and stated so will be closely inspected by the Chief Whip, the PM should appoint a Chief Whip who puts the FEAR of God in to MPs, the Chief Whip should tell them, that the PM expects absolute loyalty when it comes to a 3 line whip, otherwise the MPs WONT have to worry about the next election, they will find that the Whip has been removed from them, that means they cannot stand as a Conservative Candidate in the election, they can stand by themselves, a few Anti Brexit MPs did that in 2019 after they were thrown out of the Party by Boris.  They LOST.  Thus MPs need a new Chief Whip, in the shape of FU from the UK House of Cards, and man to but a whip about and to make sure MPs follow the line.  Also the so called experts are missing one point, PM Boris is not PM May, and the PM can throw things at the WALL and make them stick, and force un - loyal MPs to vote for them, such as overriding the Northern Ireland Protocol and Tax cuts next year, Boris is hurt but not finished, history can repeat itself but also at the end of the day they are different cases.  PM has more political lives than a cat or a Time Lord.

That was an assessment we never expected to hear in again in Europe from a British PM, the Russians are acting like the Germans in World War 2, they are killing and raping their way through the Ukraine.  NATO and the EU need tougher sanction, they need to embargo ALL TRADE with Russia, otherwise the WEST is paying Russia to kill the people of the Ukraine.  One cannot see a US President or Western Leader wanting to shake hands with Putin again, the image would be BAD and the voters will not be happy.  One only has to think of Neville Chamberlain and the hit to his reputation after appeasement failed in September 1939, the House of Commons only of late agreed to call a TEA ROOM after him, if you say someone is appeasing, its the image of Chamberlain you get in your mind.  The Germans might have to be shamed in to doing the right thing, even if it hits their economy, they must say NO to Russia Gas and NOW and not in a few years.

The Germans have been shamed in to this, the Italians also reversed themselves, one should recall that the Germans sent five thousand caps to Ukraine, that really helps against the might of the Russian Army.  The Germans have stated they will send arms to the Ukraine, a bit late but its a start.  The question ALL these Countries who have woken up to the threat of Russia and what might happen should Russia win in Ukraine, Poland the Baltic States could come under threat, and then there is no hiding, they are members of NATO, even sleepy Biden would have to ACT and get something right in his fifty years of being a POLITICIAN.   The question is how will the WEST gets its arms to Kiev and other other areas in the Ukraine, is there some secret airport they have? Or will the WEST have to use roads, that could place them in target range of Russian fighters.  Also the Russians have stated that should others come to help Ukraine they will suffer extreme reaction, the implication being nuclear.  The West has to win and as the PM stated in the HOUSE OF COMMONS, Putin must lose and be seen to lose.

This is a good move by the Johnson Government, after the disaster that was the retreat from Afghanistan the Government needs to give red meat to its Brexit supporters.  The entire EU laws should be junked, and thus allowing the UK to prosper after the Brexit vote.   The LEFT will go bonkers, they are bonkers anyway thus they do not matter.  PM Boris is using up his political lives, he needs to return to why he was elected, make the UK prosper, but although the UK.  Remove the chains of the EU, with the Aukus deal with Australia is a start, it shows the UK is back as a leading power, that has annoyed the French, also they have lost billions in Australian dollars after the Australian  Government decided to go nuclear, thus the subs will be built by the new allies,  the EU must be really regretting the BREXIT VOTE.

This confirms that the ERG will support the Brexit Deal, if they support it, then no real Brexit supporter can vote against it, of course there might be a few remainers still in the Conservative fold.  The real split will be in the Labour Party, there will be remainer MPs who afraid if they vote for the deal they could be ousted by their remain voters, also there might be a few Labour MPs who want a NO DEAL BREXIT, you never know.   How is Jeremy Corbyn going to vote, he has spent most of his life being in opposition to the EU, how about this deal, it will be interesting to see the voting record.  Thus on Friday the UK will be a sovereign nation again, it has taken decades but it will happen at 11 o clock UK time on Thursday, no Parties or drinks due to COVID - 19.

The House of Commons has been sent home, with the warning that they could be recalled if there is a Brexit Deal within the next few days, now this warning by Michael Gove, that a chance of a Brexit Deal is about less than 50%.  The PM and the Conservative Government is playing HARDBALL with the EU, the deal is close, but the Government must not sell out UK fisherman over UK waters or that the EU can direct UK law through the backdoor.   One the whole this blog predicts a DEAL, but one that might be contested by the ERG, if they go through it in detail, thus the need for a quick approval by the House of Commons and the House of Lords.   The PM is facing the EU but looking over his shoulder at his own Party, tricky politics.

The Conservative Government has offered to remove the most damaging clauses if there is a TRADE DEAL, as a safe guard the Government has added the clauses removed by the House of Lords in case there is no TRADE DEAL.  This offer should show that the UK is willing to deal, but we are a sovereign nation, and the EU must respect that, if not the PM should walk away from the talks.   The PM must not show weakness, he must not sell out UK fishermen or allow EU regulations to regulate the UK economy, time is limited for both sides, next few days will be interesting ( how many times have I written that over the years ) !

The House of Lords and Brexit - Brexit Update - Transitional Phase

The House of Lords could be singing pass the graveyard, the  confirmed will of the British people has been shown in the votes of 2016 and 2019, if their Lordships want to play silly buggers, then the House of Commons might need to vote or removing their LORDSHIPS.  At this stage it is not needed, as the article states, the UK Government will put the clauses removed by the Lords back in to the UK Internal Market Bill when it returns to the House of Commons.   The Hard Remainers still do not understand that the PEOPLE have voted and they LOST.  The time for a UK/EU DEAL is very short, in the view of the Guardian, it needs to be done so it can be bought back to the House of Commons for a deal and for it to be passed by the EU.  Time is SHORT.

These next two weeks have been called crucial if the UK is to do a DEAL with the EU, the UK can not look weak, the Conservative Government can not shelve the Internal Market Bill, that would like weakness and giving in to the EU.  What the PM can do is stall sending the Bill to the House of Lords, it can be expected their Lordships will oppose the Bill, thus cause damage to the trade talks, the UK Government has to be seen as following through, and to use their Conservative Majority to get the Bill through the House of needed and force it through the House of Lords with the Parliamentary Act of 1949, that makes sure that the the House of Commons has the final say.   The EU has to be see that PM Boris means business.
