This could be the tariff that breaks Trump, China can wait out Trump, and they are communist, so no democracy to threaten them.   The threat by POTUS to add a further 50% is a mistake, China is a proud nation and face is important to them, also they have eyes on the Democratic Taiwan, they will not want the World to see that China can be bullied and humiliated over Tariffs.  POTUS should recall that COVID came form China, after either a leak from a lab or an intentional leak by China, the debate on that still goes on.  China can hit back if it wants, human life is not held high by the Communist Government of China.

The American voters is tired of the celebrity run campaign of the VP, they want her to do tough interviews, she is running the 2020 campaign of POTUS, in that campaign Biden was hidden in his home bunker, the press covered for him due to the fact they hated Trump and of course it was the period of COVID - 19.   They want to know more about the VP, they think they were sold a con in 2020, if the election had been a typical election one does wonder if Biden would have been elected.  There are reports that former President Barack Obama will do a weeks campaign for her, its late and you cannot transfer charisma, political class acts like Obama do not like  to share the stage, Obama was the first African - American President, now  if Harris is elected, his achievement will not be that special.   The Wars in the Middle East could damage the Harris run, the Biden line is to support Israel, even if he cannot stand the Israeli PM, its mutual, it might effect the ethnic vote in the Swing States.  Former President Trump is on the side of Israel.  An interesting few weeks ahead.   This blog is keeping to the projection that Harris will win.

The DUP are very hard to please, they will vote against part of the deal that allows them to block future EU regulation, they want to say No to past rules, they seem unable to accept that they won, that goes for the ERG too, it has been reported that Boris will not support the Government on this issue, Boris has dreams of coming back as leader of the Conservative Opposition should PM Sunak lose the 2024 general election.  The former PM will be lucky if he is found not guilty of not telling the truth  to the House and suspended, its is reported that the PM will Conservative MPs a free vote on the issue, with the Opposition supporting the decision and most Conservatives voting against him, Boris could find himself suspended from the House and face a recall election.   Thus more internal civil wars in the Conservative Party from Brexit to Boris, its never boring in UK politics.  The UK might like a boring Sir Keir in charge, be careful for what you wish for voters.

The dream might have died, a real Conservative Budget could be binned, the City, has decided that the sums do not add up, thus the price of Government bonds are going up, why we trust the City after the near economic collapse during PM Gordon Brown's time in office, is any ones guess.  The World is suffering from post COVID - 19 lockdown, but more important is the WAR in the Ukraine, the Western sanctions on Russia and on its GAS means that the price of OIL and GAS is going up, inflation in the US is now at 8.2, that means interest rates will have to go up, they were far to low for YEARS, people have gotten used to an easy life, and low mortgagee, that time has come to an end, people must be more careful with their money, the Government should CUT WELFARE, try saying that NOW, the UK's furlough has cost hundred of billions, and the cap on energy prices for two years just adds to the national debt.  The West must act in unison, even the EU, otherwise the people of the West will suffer.

It has been a hectic day for the new PM, she has appointed her Cabinet, they are nearly all friends of Truss or supported her in the leadership campaign, in fact many were contenders themselves for the top job.  It always wise to keep the opposition close, you can see when there are problems if they will be loyal.  The main rival, Rishi Sunak does not get a job and his supporters are also out at Cabinet level.  Will be interesting to see when it comes to Ministers of State.  Today was the first PMQs for Truss, she did well, none of the fun or bombast of Boris, sometimes you need a more steady hand after someone like Boris.  The PM has shown she is a FIRM Conservative, there will be no windfall tax on energy companies, that draws a clear line with LABOUR.  They want to tax everything in sight!  The big government statement on the energy freeze will come tomorrow and and will be presented by the PM.  One hopes that there will be a cap on energy prices that helps individuals and smaller companies, the cost has been trailed at one hundred billion, the PM has to be CLEAR, we are in STATE of Emergency, with coming out of Covid - 19 and the present WAR in Europe, this will rise the cost of gas and also push inflation up.  Thus the PM has to go BIG, the cost will be placed on the credit card of the UK.    This will take decades to pay off, but the cost of supporting people at home and support for the Ukraine, means the UK has no choice.  The PM was clear in her support for the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill if talks with the EU do not work out, and also the issue cannot be thrown in to the long grass, thus the UK might have to go in to a TRADE WAR with the EU.  A good first day for Truss.

This blog is indifferent on the fate of the PM, after the massive failure in Afghanistan this blog lost confidence in the PM.  On the other hand, he won in 2019 with a 80 seat majority, got Brexit done and had a successful COVID operation.  Also so far the PM has had a good war in the Ukraine, he has been a solid support for the Ukraine to fight on.   Those after the PM are former Remainers who see this as a chance to get back in to the EU, that young fellow Tobias stated that was his ambition.  Also we have former Ministers who didn't make it to the Boris Cabinet or were sacked.  The whims of Conservative MPs is a blackhole, they are the most devious voters on the planet, they cannot be trusted.  So this blog's prediction, Boris manages to get a small victory and then if he loses the forthcoming by-elections the knifes will be out again.  Of course he could LOSE tonight, in that case, the Conservative Party must chose someone sound on BREXIT, not a former Remainer. Thus a interesting few hours ahead.

Thus the PM will not face any more fines for PARTYGATE, that is good news for the PM, other fines had been expected, BBC News and Sky News are acting as if they cannot understand why the PM was not fined, the usual opposition suspects are still demanding the resignation of the PM, they also want the full Gray report published, they are desperate for anything that they can throw at the PM.  One would think that the Privileges Committee investigation by the House of Commons could be another flash point, the Committee nominally has a Conservative majority of ONE.  They are looking in to the issue if the PM lied to the House of Commons, we shall see what they discover.  This blog has had no time for the PM since Afghanistan, but he has had a good WAR in Ukraine, and the cost of living crisis will frighten off those that want the leadership, they must hope that the PM solves the crisis and then falls.  As stated in this blog, the Met and Durham investigations are a WAST OF TIME, there should be a Royal Pardon for those charged, the Country must look forward and not back.

This is the first known infection of Her Majesty and the 2nd one for the Price of Wales, it shows everyone has been hit by COVID - 19.  The Queen has served this nation and its know that this NATION should send good wishes and quick recovery to Her Majesty.  The last few years have been hard one everyone, Her Majesty has LOST her husband and her sons have been in the soup one way or another.  Through out this the Queen has showed courage and the will to carry on, GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.

This blog's favourite subject is BACK in the new, the UK Foreign Secretary has stated she will invoke ARTICLE 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol that suspends parts of the WITHDRAEAL AGREEMENT that sets the rules for Northern Ireland.  There have been endless talks, the former Brexit Minister, Lord Frost resigned over COVID - 19 rules, the Foreign Secretary is seen as a replacement for Boris Johnson if he be forced to leave No 10 due to PARTYGATE or GATES even.  Ms Truss the Foreign Secretary was a REMAINER, but knows that if she want the BIG JOB of being PM she has to show to the Brexit voters and MPs in the Conservative Party that she will pull trigger for ARTICLE 16 if the talks with the EU does not work out.  Thus the talks are about Northern Ireland but between the lines its about Ms Truss showing that she would be a STRONG PM and a BREXIT PM at that.

The way PUTIN is going he will have to invade the Ukraine or he will be seen as WEAK at home, the problem with invading the Ukraine is that Putin cannot control the outcome, it can be postulated that the Ukraine people will not just walk over, they will fight, there will be thousands of deaths, on both sides, Putin will not be able to hide this, as he has done with the Russian action in East Ukraine.  There will be Ukraine refugees going to the BORDER, will they be allowed through, of course the US will have to do something, Biden cannot just sit in the Oval Office and DO NOTHING, he will be forced by pressure on the Hill to support the Kiev Government with military support, in this case equipment, but what happens if a Russia misfires and hits a NATO Country or NATO planes, one cannot game that out.  The WEST will have to bring the Russian Economy to its knees as to follow through with its harsh economic threats, that could force Russia in to more drastic action, the Baltic States could come under threat, also Poland, is Putin willing to cross that line.   This is why appeasing Putin is a very BAD IDEA, you just have to understand the lessons of Munich 1938, never give a tyrant a inch, they will take more.  As noted in the article Putin is creating a fake impression that the West is about attack Russia, the POOR Russian people have know way of knowing the TRUTH.  One expects a Russia invasion of Christmas Eve, one hopes one it WRONG.

Could this be the start of the end of PM Boris, he has not had a great few weeks, from the scandal of the Christmas Parities in 2020, the attempt to save a political wounded MP failed, thus having to fight a by - election, in a Seat that has been Conservative for two hundred years, then to lose it to the Liberal Democrats.   Also we have the presence of COVID - 19 to deal with, this wave seems to be doing the same at the Delta mutation last year, the Government has not told Pubs to close, they might as well as, the advice to be wary of how many people you meet and to be selective when you go out.  Thus the Queen cancelled her pre Christmas, this was following the trend of the public who have cancelled events, and thus hitting bars and restaurants.  Lord Frost had to deal with the Northern Ireland Protocol, it seems that the PM would not fight for a new protocol to have no reference to the ECJ, that was something that Europe would not budge on.  Thus Brexit brings down a good Minister, the HARD Brexit supporters in the House of Commons will need to select a candidate who really supports Brexit in case the PM throws in the towel, it cant be Lord Frost as he is in the House of Lords.  The PM was a media darling, but COVID - 19 pandemic needs the appearance of a efficient PM, not one that sees the bright side of life and a Conservative PM who will cut TAXES.

The real nightmare for the White House would be if Russia invades the Ukraine, while Iran announces to the World that it has the bomb, can the Biden Oval really deal with something like that, what could be worse is if these rogue nations form a secret alliance, not to come to each others support if a War breaks out, but to do their strikes in tandem.  One can only hope that the Israeli Mossad is keeping an eye on Tehran and its nuclear ambitions, and that Tehran is still a few weeks or even MONTHS from getting the bomb and that Russia is bluffing again, unlike the case with the Crimea, the Russians are already starting with FAKE news that the Ukraine is about to invade the CRIMEA, so out there its funny.  Also that Ukraine spies have been captured in the Russia and were planning terrorist acts, another one there for amateur fake news, the Russians are not even trying, if that is the best they can come up with they are really in trouble at the Kremlin. Thus Western Europe might be in a REAL CRISIS point in a few days IF Russia invades, what will Biden do, does he have the backbone to defend the Ukraine, also if Iran is stalling, how long can the Israeli Government be prevented from bombing Iran, it would be better if the US bombed, less chance of a REGIONAL WAR.  Also let's not forget COVID - 19 ( WE WISH WE COULD ), would either Russia or Iran really want to go to WAR with the pandemic on, it would be dangerous, let's recall the Spanish Flue came about due to World War and its carnage.

IF this story is TRUE, then IF I was PM of Israel my attack aircraft and bombers would be in the air, just waiting for the WORD.  A nuclear armed Iran can not be allowed to happen, it would be a major THREAT to the State of Israel, would allow Iran to blackmail its neighbouring Countries, Saudi Arabia would buy a nuclear missile or get the best scientists to create one for them.  The Gulf States would need the protection of the US, after Afghanistan would you trust President Biden.  The Western Europe wants to appease, with COVID - 19 they can not deal with a major foreign policy crisis, either from the Middle East or Eastern Europe.  The leaders are weak as were the leaders in the 1930s.  On the US side, Biden faces the 2022 Mid Terms, after Afghanistan he cannot look weak over Iran, let's recall the Tehran Regime bought down Jimmy Carter in 1980.   Thus if there is a REAL THREAT of a nuclear armed Iran, the Biden Oval will have to attack, a US attack could prevent a regional war, as it can be postulated that Tehran would not react if the US attacked, but would if Israel hit them first.   Vienna is the place to be at the moment with a mask on.

As stated in previous post, Iran agrees to things and then goes back on them, they are stalling, they know that the Biden Oval and the West want to appease them, that the West does not have the backbone to follow through with any threats, also there is the CRISIS point of  Russian on the Ukraine border and the tension between the US and China over Taiwan.  The West can only deal with so much, on top of that we have COVID - 19 and its mutations, as now the Western leaders are not sure if the new virus is a major THREAT or not. The real threat to Iran is Israel, if they see that Tehran is very close to the bomb, they will attack as they did in 1981 in Iraq and 2007 in Syria.   If Jerusalem sees that the US and the West is weak and will not really stare down Tehran, they will be forced to take action, alone or with the Gulf States.  The reason North Korea is safe from Western action is the fact they have nuclear bombs.  The Ukraine made the mistake of giving theirs  up in the 1990s, the Russians got them, and thus the power Putin has in the area.  These Vienna talks are a smoke screen for TEHRAN, they want the bomb and are stalling the the US and the West.

If I was a member of either the House or the Senate I would be careful of placing all my support for Biden, one does not need to be the genius to work out that Biden is not running in 2024, the delay is getting his Agenda means that the bills wont be seen as benefit before the 2022 Mid Terms, and in that race the voters will be asking, so what have you done, and when does it start to happen, and then you voted to spend how much, one is sure the Republicans will make sure that every misstep is placed at the feet of Democrats.  Independents might be hard to get back, they have seen Afghanistan and the mess that started and ended with Biden, also Covid - 19 is still on going, Biden does not have real link with the voters, such as Kennedy and Reagan had, also his selling point was that he could work the Hill, well if this week is his best, God help us for the next six weeks.  One hopes the Senate and House moderates keep to their word, or their wanting to get re-elected and keep the social welfare bill down to 1 to 2 trillion, otherwise they might lose their Seat in Congress.

POTUS has to get his numbers up or Democratic Candidates for the 2022 Mid Terms will start to run away from him, Biden has shown that he feckless, no backbone when it comes to Afghanistan, he is seen as Trump without the anger and the tweets.  The lack of talking to the Allies over Afghanistan and Aukus has shown he is a American First President, who cares about winning over the Trump voters in 2024.  Let's be honest here, Biden is not going to run for a 2nd term, he is almost gaga now, he is directed by his White House Team, the gossip is who is the magician behind the Curtain that is running the Biden Oval.  POTUS needs some big wins on the Hill, from the debt limit to his 3.5 trillion welfare and climate change bill.   Biden has spent decades on the Hill, well this is the time to show that he can make BIG DEALS.  The US election cycle starts very early in the US.  The Biden honeymoon is over, even if CNN does not get that FACT.

The Fixed Term Parliament was a massive mistake by the the Coalition Government of the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats, it blocked a PM from asking the Queen to dissolve Parliament when the polls were good for the PM.  Thus it can be postulated that the PM is looking for a early election in 2023 or 24, it depends how the COVID - 19 booster shot goes and if the pandemic is nearly over.  The Labour Party also supports getting rid of the Fix Term Parliament, should they win a general election ( it can happen ) or lead a minority Government they want to call an election when the polls are good for them.   POLITICS never stop, we are going much like the US.

A President's influence on the Hill depends what his or her polls numbers are, after the mess of Afghanistan one can expect that Biden will go DOWN in the polls, also we have seen that Covid - 19 is a constant problem, the latest images from Kabul will hurt the authority of the Biden and the US when it comes to World leadership.   The Democrats on the Hill will be worried that they face having Biden become another Jimmy Carter, foreign policy sank his Presidency, and the problems of Afghanistan will not go away.  Biden better recover the image, or Kabul will be the story of his Presidency.  The irony is that it is down to the Biden ego and wrong views on foreign policy that the US is in this mess. 

Charity starts at HOME - UK overseas aid Cut - After Covid 19

The Conservative Government had promised tax hikes if the Conservative Party MPs did not vote to confirm the reduction in overseas aid, that was something no real Conservative MP could vote for, if the Tories are about anything it is about TAX CUTS, not TAX HIKES.   Also the PM stated the Government has spent 407 billion on protecting the UK population from the economic effects of COVID - 19.   At some point this has to be paid back, the Conservative Party is about keeping the economy in the black and not in the red.   Thus the 25 MPs who voted with Labour need a real talk with their local Conservative Association, the Chief Whip should give them call, these chairmen and women should remind their errant MPs that they need to be selected for the next general election and thus should get back in line.
