Foreign Secretary threatens the USE of ARTICLE 16 - Brexit Update

Lets Get Real:

This blog's favourite subject is BACK in the new, the UK Foreign Secretary has stated she will invoke ARTICLE 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol that suspends parts of the WITHDRAEAL AGREEMENT that sets the rules for Northern Ireland.  There have been endless talks, the former Brexit Minister, Lord Frost resigned over COVID - 19 rules, the Foreign Secretary is seen as a replacement for Boris Johnson if he be forced to leave No 10 due to PARTYGATE or GATES even.  Ms Truss the Foreign Secretary was a REMAINER, but knows that if she want the BIG JOB of being PM she has to show to the Brexit voters and MPs in the Conservative Party that she will pull trigger for ARTICLE 16 if the talks with the EU does not work out.  Thus the talks are about Northern Ireland but between the lines its about Ms Truss showing that she would be a STRONG PM and a BREXIT PM at that.

Could this be the start of the end of PM Boris, he has not had a great few weeks, from the scandal of the Christmas Parities in 2020, the attempt to save a political wounded MP failed, thus having to fight a by - election, in a Seat that has been Conservative for two hundred years, then to lose it to the Liberal Democrats.   Also we have the presence of COVID - 19 to deal with, this wave seems to be doing the same at the Delta mutation last year, the Government has not told Pubs to close, they might as well as, the advice to be wary of how many people you meet and to be selective when you go out.  Thus the Queen cancelled her pre Christmas, this was following the trend of the public who have cancelled events, and thus hitting bars and restaurants.  Lord Frost had to deal with the Northern Ireland Protocol, it seems that the PM would not fight for a new protocol to have no reference to the ECJ, that was something that Europe would not budge on.  Thus Brexit brings down a good Minister, the HARD Brexit supporters in the House of Commons will need to select a candidate who really supports Brexit in case the PM throws in the towel, it cant be Lord Frost as he is in the House of Lords.  The PM was a media darling, but COVID - 19 pandemic needs the appearance of a efficient PM, not one that sees the bright side of life and a Conservative PM who will cut TAXES.

As reported on Sky News today the EU wants to play hardball if the UK invokes Article 16, in this they might have problem, what will Poland and Hungary do, also it is reported that Germany is not in favour, the pressure for tough action is coming from Ireland and France, the French reason is EASY, the President faces a election next year and wants to be seen to be tough on the British, while the Dublin Government knows that it might have to set up border posts on its side of the border for any EU threat to mean anything.  Also the consequences of invoking Article 16 will take time, do the Irish want a TRADE WAR before Christmas, and also the pressure from Brussels to place border posts up, the UK will follow the Good Friday Agreement, force the EU to cause problems in the province, that will look good for the EU, the EU has more to lose, it should cut a deal, even if the French are not happy, the French are never happy. 

The Northern Ireland Protocol Talks - Update - After Brexit

Lets Get Real:

The EU has never gotten over the FACT that the UK voters voted to leave the EU, they cannot and will not understand in DEMOCRACY, also that Northern Ireland is part of the UK in till they say they want to either become a State themselves or become part of Ireland.  The UK must protect the Good Friday Agreement, that comes FIRST, and if need be the UK should invoke Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Agreement that allows the UK to suspend part of the agreement should it have a negative effects on the community or democracy.  PM Boris has been tough with the EU, he must follow through, the EU is just playing games, they should tell the Republic of Ireland to stand a border on the border between the Republic and the Province if they want a border, or the Republic should leave the EU, either way the province is part of the UK, no matter what. 

The Brexit FISHING WARS with France - After Brexit

Lets Get Real:

The UK will not be blackmailed by the French of ALL PEOPLE, the French Government has never gotten over the FACT that the UK left the EU and is prospering, it does work with French logic or ego.  The UK should make it clear to the French, that any blocking of PORTS or sanctions will be meet in kind, the Royal Navy should take in toe any ships that are blocking the PORTS and arrest the crew, send the crew back to Paris on the Euro Train and sell the boats at auction, that would show the French.  The UK is in discussions with the EU over the Northern Ireland Protocol, the UK has to be firm with the EU, either our way or we invoke Article 16 and suspend parts of the Protocol that is not working for the UK.  The UK has to be firm with the French and the EU, the UK voted out in 2016 and confirmed that in the 2019 general election, the PM has to find his inner Churchill or Lady Thatcher. 

EU not going far enough on the Northern Ireland Protocol - Lord Frost - After Brexit

Sky News: Reports " EU proposals on Northern Ireland Protocol 'don't go far enough', Lord Frost tells MPs...."I'm not sure they would quite deliver the kind of ambitious freeing-up of trade between Great Britain and Northern Ireland that we want to see," the Brexit minister tells MPs. "

Lets Get Real:

The EU has given somewhat from their absolute position, are we seeing real problems or just the fanfare before a DEAL.   The Daily Mail reported that the PM would cave and allow the ECJ to stay while creating a Independent arbitration mechanism, should there be any problems between the UK and the EU.  It is reported that Lord Frost has stated that the PM is tougher on this than him, so could there be a TRADE WAR if the UK invokes Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol that suspends parts that are causing problems. It is hard to say for sure, each sides wants to push each other to its red lines.  There will be more talks this week.

Sky News: Reports " EU to set out 'practical solutions' as UK demands changes to Northern Ireland Protocol....European Commission vice president Maros Sefcovic is set to hold a news conference on Wednesday afternoon in which he will deliver Brussels's verdict on UK proposals for the Northern Ireland Protocol. "

Lets Get Real:

Lord Frost replied to the EU before the EU gives out its new version of the Northern Ireland Protocol, the Minister stated that European Court of Justice was a major problem, and has to be dealt with, if the EU gives real solutions to the problems of the protocol and allow normal business between the GB and the province that would help, it will be interesting to see the reaction from business to the new ideas from the EU, if they work then the ECJ might not matter that much, the Unionist Parties could be the problem, if they bring down the government of the province, that could lead to trouble in the streets, so the Unionist Parties have to be bought along, this is why the ECJ part has to be reformed.  It will be interesting to see how the intense talks with the UK and the EU go, can they bring real solutions and political solutions that work for the province.

Lord Frost's speech Update 2 - After Brexit

Lets Get Real:

The UK has to be FIRM with the EU, the speech was a hammer in a velvet glove, the UK at the end day has responsibility for Northern Ireland, it also has a duty to make sure that the Good Friday Agreement is kept and there is no return to the troubles.  The Unionist groups have made it clear that the NORTHERN IRELAND PROTOCOL has to go also the role of the European Court of Justice, it is seen as bias in favour of the EU.  The UK should have talks with the EU when they bring out their new ideas for the PROTOCOL, if Brussels cant or wont listen then the UK has to invoke ARTICLE 16 and suspend parts of the protocol.   The Irish Government has been fighting the EU side of late, it should learn to keep quiet, what if the EU demands that they place border checks on the border, will they so NO or YES, sometimes it is better to be quiet and then no one will notice you.  The PM has had a good day, also he is on holiday.

Lets Get Real:

WE shall see if the EU is on the up, or is just playing games, it has been reported that the French President has been asking the EU to go hard on the Northern Ireland Protocol, also the French have threatened to cut power to the UK and its Islands, the French are angry that they have been refused fishing licences UK waters.  They have threatened to close down UK ports if their demands are not meet.  The UK has to be CLEAR with the EU, the Northern Ireland Protocol has to be changed in a big way, it is a threat to the PEACE of Northern Ireland.  The UK PM should invoke Article 16 of the Withdrawal Agreement and revoke those parts of the Protocol that is a threat to the peace of the province, IF the Republic wants to send set up borders that is a Dublin problem not ours.  The UK has to be tough with the EU. 

The EU has ill will towards the UK after Brexit - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

One does have to wonder if the Conservative Government wants the row over the Northern Ireland Protocol to carry on as it shows the UK against the EU, always popular with the UK voter and also miss direction, there has been good news over COVID - 19 of late, the vaccines are working and the EU is well behind in  its use and thus a easy target.   The UK should just leave the EU Brexit Deal, at some point you have to cut bait, the EU will never get over the fact that the UK LEFT the EU.  The Brussels machine is trying to show other Countries who might want to leave if they took that road.  Time for No 10 to show the red card to Brussels. 

Lord Frost, the Man of the Moment when it comes to the EU - Post Brexit

BBC News: Reports " Boris Johnson has drafted former Brexit negotiator Lord David Frost into his cabinet to take charge of forging a new relationship with the EU.  "

Lets Get Real:

Lord Frost bought in the Brexit Deal before the deadline, Frost will have to deal with the Northern Ireland problems and the demand by the DUP that the Northern Ireland protocol is scrapped.   The checking of goods from the GB to Northern Ireland has caused problems and is seen as a threat by the Unionist Parties, while the Nationalist  Parties support the protocol.   Frost has to be tough with the EU and the PM needs to support him, even if that means that the UK has to cancel the Brexit Deal, it was a good aim to get a deal with the EU, but the EU has been playing silly buggers over the past few months.  The Conservative Government has enough problems to deal with at the moment, it does not need the same old problem of Brexit.
