The Sunak Cabinet - The Return of Suella Braverman as Home Secretary - After Boris/After Brexit

BBC News: Reports on the return of Suella Braverman as Home Secretary after she supported Sunak in the Conservative Leadership Contest, " She resigned just days ago from the role after a security breach, when she sent a government document to someone not authorised to receive it....She endorsed Mr Sunak to be the new leader two days ago, a move seen as a massive boost for his campaign  "

Lets Get Real:

The sending back to the Home Office of Suella Braverman will please the right wing of the Party, it shows that the Sunak Government will be tough when it comes to migration.  It reported that few days before she was forced to resign from the Truss Government she had a 90 minute row with the then PM over migration.  Braverman wants to send those that come to the UK in a illegal manner to Rwanda , the left, well BBC News, Guardian, Channel 4 News hate this policy, they will be keeping a close eye on the new Home Secretary, they will be after her to make another mistake.  It should be noted that Sunak voted to leave the EU, and promised during his campaign against PM Truss to get EU laws of the UK books.  It should be noted that the European Research Group, the right wing of the Party will be keeping the expensive shoes of the PM to the fire over the Northern Ireland Protocol, also the DUP.  The watch word for the new Sunak Government is Unity, thus a lot of former Ministers are going back to their former Departments. Let's judge the Sunak Government by its actions.

The above are great lines, but can the PM get her agenda through the House of Commons, can she get the support of Conservative MPs, far to many like to see their own pet agenda in headlines, Young Tobias or OLD Gove, that is the problem when you have been in power for 12 years, there are to many former Ministers on the backbenches who see their political careers as over and those that have pet projects, like Young Tobias who wants to get the UK back in to the EU or OLD Gove who is being the opposition because he can, he had backstabbed to many PMs for him to be taken seriously, but he is by the left wing press.  PM Truss has to be like Lady T, make sure she has supporters in the House of Commons, she should visit the tea rooms, get to know her MPs.  The Truss agenda can not be just imposed, it needs to become part of the Party agenda .

COVID -19 Update 1 - Lockdown Phase 2

Lets Get Real:

Thus England will go NOW have a 2nd lockdown, also the furlough scheme will go on in till December.  The costs of COVID - 19 in lives has been great, on the whole older people with underlying conditions are the main group to suffer.   One the economic side, the young have been either been sacked from jobs in pubs etc or are on furlough, the cost the UK Treasury makes the eyes water.  Next year the Chancellor will want to put up taxes to pay back for the costs of COVID- 19, that is based on there being a vaccine early next year.   This does raise an interesting question, Wales is supposed to come out of its circuit  break on the 9th of November, will that still happen, one does not have to be a genius to work out that some people from England with 2nd homes in Wales might fancy a break from COVID - 19 by coming to Wales, will we close the borders.

Internal Market Bill - Brexit Update 1 - Transitional Phase

Lets Get Real:

These next two weeks have been called crucial if the UK is to do a DEAL with the EU, the UK can not look weak, the Conservative Government can not shelve the Internal Market Bill, that would like weakness and giving in to the EU.  What the PM can do is stall sending the Bill to the House of Lords, it can be expected their Lordships will oppose the Bill, thus cause damage to the trade talks, the UK Government has to be seen as following through, and to use their Conservative Majority to get the Bill through the House of needed and force it through the House of Lords with the Parliamentary Act of 1949, that makes sure that the the House of Commons has the final say.   The EU has to be see that PM Boris means business.

Dominic Raab the Acting PM - Update 3 - Health

Lets Get Real:

If Boris is removed, through ill health or worse, the question is who will follow him, the 2019 General Election mandate was for him, not for the Conservative Party.  The question is who in the Cabinet has the support of Conservative MPs and can LEAD the Country.  It should be noted that Raab was a candidate for the Conservative leadership after PM May was forced out.  The question is does he have the presence to to LEAD the UK through the COVID - 19 crisis and will people support him.   If it comes down to it, this blog would prefer to see Michael Gove as the next Prime Minister, he has presence and is very brainy, he has showed his loyalty to Boris and has a presence at the Dispatch box in the House of Commons.  One only hopes the above does not happen, our thoughts are with the PM and his family. 

Boris is the MAN TO BEAT - Conservative Leadership Contest

BBC News: Reports " Jeremy Hunt will face Boris Johnson in the race to be the next PM after Michael Gove was eliminated in the latest Tory leadership ballot.  "

Lets Get Real:

This blog was right by two votes, that Michael Gove was toast, the drugs revelations did not help, also the Conservative Party did not need the psycho battle of a Johnson vs. Gove match up, in 2016 Gove stabbed Boris in the back, this is not new in political history, Ed Miliband stabbed his older Brother David in the back to become Labour Leader ( a pointless thing to do, as he did not win the following General Election ).  The contes between Boris and Hunt should be civil, Hunt is the underdog, the Conservative base is VERY PRO BREXIT, so Hunt if he wants to WIN will have to out BREXIT Boris, do not see that happening, Hunt will want to keep his job as the Foreign Office, thus the contest should be BORING for the press.   If the Party had adults in the room, the underdog would step down and allow BORIS to become PM a little bit early, but that is not going to happen, egos these days are frail.   This blog is supporting Boris, he will bring some fun back to UK politics and put the Brexit Party back in its box. 

The Conservative Party Race for the LEADERSHIP and PM - End of the May Era

It seems that the Conservative members understand what DEMOCRACY is meant to be about, while the ELITE POLS have forgotten that little FACT.   The Conservative members want OUT of the EU, and Tomorrow would be not FAST ENOUGH.   The Conservative leadership race is for Boris to lose ( everyone knows who you are talking about when you say BORIS ), he can take the fight to the Labour Party and other opposition parties.  If Boris Johnson wins the leadership he has to deliver BREXIT, that is the only policy that matters, let's see if the good ship Boris can avoid being another RMS Titanic or RMS May!

Boris for PM - Conservative Party Election - End of the May Era

Lets Get Real:

The Conservative race is for Boris Johnson to LOSE, thus on the whole he has had selected interviews and today's launch of his campaign.   It was reported in today's Telegraph that a poll shows that with Boris as PM, the Conservative Party would win the next election with a 140 seat majority.   The Johnson Campaign has to ram this down the throats of Remain MPs IN the House of Commons, whatever they do, the next Government can undo, and if these MPs want to be selected as Conservative MPs they will follow the Party line.   It is time for the Johnson Campaign to be very ruthless, not play games with the HARD REMAINERS, just tell them they can be part of the next Government or they can freeze in hell before they get be a Conservative MPs again or be given a peerage or a cush job on a government body.  The Johnson campaign should make FU ( original UK version of the House of Cards ) happy, do what it takes to win. 

The END of Michael Gove - Part 2 - Conservative Leadership Contest

All the Monday papers are going with the Gove story, as the above article states the youthful actions of Gove might not matter, but his double standards sounds like pleading from the urban elite that their past CRIMES do not matter, while others have been sent to the big house.  As stated by this blog, Gove is political toast, it would be better for him to get out of the race NOW, and support someone will give him a cush Cabinet post, well at least a promotion to Foreign Secretary or Chancellor.   The British voter can almost forgive anything, with the exception of being two faced about drugs or beating your dog, let's be honest a dog beating is more serious than taking drugs.   There will many voters in the UK who have seen a friend or member of their family been thrown in jail, for what Gove has stated that he was lucky not to go jail, while writing an article that was critical of the middle class for taking drugs. GOVE = TOAST = POLITICAL DODO.

If Michael Gove had admitted to drug use in a interview off his own bat that would be one thing, he was admitting it because the scandal was going to come out in a book about him.  In simple terms Gove is toast, the Conservative Party leadership suspicious of him already over his Brexit stand will not be so forgiving, they tend to be older and white, they will think that Gove is two faced, on the one hand as a reporter coming down hard on those in the middle class who took drugs, while taking the same substance himself.   Monday ( Today ) is the day for Conservative nominations, it will be interesting to see how many MPs ENDORSE Gove, needs over 8 to get on the list, how many of those want to be attached to a losing candidate.   Politics is a brutal game, a loser is a loser, also as a Minister Gover supporting the banning of teachers if they were caught with drugs, so different rules for politicians would be a nightmare to spin.

It will be interesting if Labour places a No Confidence motion before the House, will the Change ( Tigs ) MPs and those that have recently left the Party vote for their own political demise by forcing an election.  Also will the MPs from leave Seats want to explain why they voted to bring down the Government that will bring about BREXIT.   Also let's get honest here, does Corby really want to debate BORIS, think about that, BORIS will tear him a new backside on national TV.  Of course Remain Conservative MPs could bring down the Government, it would mean the END OF THEIR POLITICAL CAREERS, there would be no forgiveness after that, no honours, no place in the House of Lords, no selection for various government committees that are appointed by the Government.  Will Remain MPs be Turkeys voting for Christmas?

The Daily Mail under a new Editor has become very REMAIN paper, it supported May's withdrawal agreement, up to the last minute, then May resigned, she will resign as Conservative Leader today, still will carry on acting leader and PM in till the Conservative Party elects a new LEADER.   Thus the idea of proroguing the House of Commons is a GOOD IDEA, let's recall the Queen is SOVEREIGN, it is not the House of Commons or the people, the Queen under the advice of her PM can do anything, we do NOT HAVE A written Constitution, thus the closing down the House of Commons might go down well with most of the Country, it would show LEADERSHIP, a PM who is tough, Raab just might be a serious contender to be PM.

God knows why the Conservative Party agreed to its Conservative succession being debated on the BBC.   The BBC is so pro Remain and Guardian readers one can expect a hostile interviews for ALL the candidates.  Also the public do not have a vote in this, the Conservative membership has the final say, and they are Boris supporters, if Gove starts to attack BORIS he might find that the BBC likes it, but the Conservative base will see it as a REMAIN Cabinet Minister trying to be PM May the second.  That would be odd, because Gove was one of the leading lights of the Brexit vote, it seems red boxes and power does corrupt.   It has been commented on that this is a race for BORIS to lose, one hopes that he does not do any foot in mouth moments, one never knows with BORIS. 

The Conservative Succession - End of the May Era - Why NO BREXIT?

Lets Get Real:

The Conservative Party leadership rules have to be changed again, this race can not go on for weeks, the number of candidates could be shorten if each candidate needed 12 MPs supporting him or her before the 1st round and then the vote should be taken daily to get down to 2 candidats to go to the Party.  One can postulate that if BORIS gets the nod and a Remainer is chosen the Remain candidate will stand down and allow Boris to become PM and save the Party members having to vote for the outcome everyone knows.  Of course it depends on Boris getting the nod, the MPs are not that BRIGHT, they could give us another Major or May, the UK and the Conservative Party needs BORIS as PM. 

The UK and the EU Custom Union - Post Brexit

This blog is open to compromise, of course it depends what it is, if it STOPS the UK doing trade deals, then NO, the UK voter voted for a sovereign Parliament to do deals with other Countries, for the UK to decide who comes here, no more money to the EU.   The UK should and could stand alone, the EU needs us MORE than we need them.  On the other hand, life is about deals and compromise, let's see what kind of Brexit the Government comes up with, will it be a SOFT or HARD Brexit.

Lets Get Real:

The UK Cabinet is divided and is leaking like the Titanic, and only a few lifeboats left, the PM has to decide who she can annoy and how much damage they can do to her and the UK.   In this view of this blog the PM has only one real choice, she needs to sack the Chancellor, he is a moaning remainer, also he is very boring and does not have much support on the Conservative backbenches, while sacking the Foreign Secretary could cause more problems, it would be seen as a victory for the remainers.  The PM can not go on like this she needs to find her inner Lady Thatcher, she should ask herself what would the Iron Lady do in such a event.

The PM has to ACT one way or another, either sack the Foreign Secretary or the Chancellor, they are causing divisions within the Cabinet, the moaning remainers will never accept that the UK voted to leave the EU, they will cause problems and hinder the right path.  On the other side the Hard Brexit ministers will not allow the UK to be part of the EU, they see the 2016 as their victory, and they see May as weak.  IF this blog was PM May she would make a decision and then carry it through, Lady Thatcher would never be be this weak.  The Iran Lady could control the Cabinet, it was only at the end that she was was weak and it finished her off.

It is essential that they have an understanding of the top levels of government, international affairs and how the process in Whitehall operates. "

IF the Conservative Party was smart and did not have big egos the race could be over TONIGHT, it looks like May has most of the Conservative MPs, the only way for Gove to win would be a vote of the members, that does not look like a good prospect, the political knifing of the former Mayor of London has shown Gove in a BAD LIGHT, the political knifer never gets the Crown.    Thus one can expect another round, with Gove being forced out and with May and Leadsom going before Conservative Members, at least you know it will be a woman PM, either way, the Labour Party is going to look old and sexist. 

Crabb OUT of Conservative Race - After Cameron

Guardian - Live Reporting: Reports in its 8.15pm post the following, " Crabb said that he spoke earlier to Theresa May and was now giving her his “wholehearted” support. "

Lets Get Real:

It looks like bar the shouting that it will be Theresa May as the next UK PM.   IF she holds the lead in the second round and even gain votes it can be argued that the Country is in such a crisis point we do not have the time for a two month delay, that the other contenders should step down and allow May to become PM.   Of course the Conservative members might prefer Leadsom, a new face, a new broom so to speak.   INTERESTING week ahead for the Conservative Party and the UK.   A note for the future, Crabb is the face of the future of the Conservative Party, if not quite yet!

The Conservative Party - 1st Round of Voting

BBC News - Live Reporting: Reports in its 6.51pm post the following, " A reminder again of the result. Theresa May received 165 votes - more than 50% of those cast. Andrea Leadsom came second with 66, Michael Gove third with 48 and Stephen Crabb fourth with 34.

Liam Fox is eliminated from the race, having come last with 16 votes. "

Lets Get Real:

It looks like its a race for May to lose, the former Chancellor, Ken Clark stated she was a bloody difficult woman, well that is good news, you want a tough cookie in No 10.  The race is not over, there is an election on Thursday and then next Tuesday in till we get down to two candidates, this blog thinks May should win, if she does lets hope she is like Margaret Thatcher and stays as long.
