Lord Botham Brexit has a ring to it, of course Lord Botham is a firm Brexit supporter and does great charity work.  The blog does not understand why the PM has placed Ken Clarke and Philip Hammond on the peerage list, they are firm Remain supporters, is No 10 trying to show that the BREXIT WAR is over and the Country must move on, the question is will the former Chancellors follow the Conservative whip or will they just be as stubborn in the Lords as they were in the House of Commons about Brexit.  At least the Conservatives have more on their side, the House of Lords had become Remain CENTRAL for those opposed to Brexit.   At least the former Speaker, John Bercow was not given an peerage, he broke the norms of the House of Commons in his attempts to block BREXIT, he used very OLD precedents in attempt to BLOCK BREXIT, he lowered the standing of the Speaker for his personal agenda.

The story of Philip Hammond should be a political lesson to ALL REMAINERS, you can go over your skies but do not expect to be forgiven.  A MP should vote for what he or she thinks is best, as Edmund Burke stated, but that does not mean that your PARTY AND LOCAL ASSOCIATION have to back you, the whip was removed from Hammond because he plotted to stall Brexit and hinder the Brexit talks.  If you want a successful career make sure your battles have merit, like Churchill's warnings over Nazi Germany, then you look like a hero, while fighting the Democratic will of 17.4 million people is a idiotic choice at best and VERY BAD POLITICS over all. 

A HARD WARNING from a Cabinet Remainer to HARD BREXIT MPs - Brexit Update 2 - NO Brexit

THIS is a clear warning from a HARD REMAINER the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the House of Commons will take control of the Brexit process if the May Deal is not passed on Tuesday.   The Labour Leader is working with some Conservative MPs for a the UK to stay in the Customs Union with the EU, this is not what the HARD BREXIT MPs want, but they could get that if they fail to support the PM.   Also they could face a general election or a 2nd Brexit vote, one that could reverse the first BREXIT VOTE.   The Hard Brexit MPs need to smell coffee, democratic politics is not about political purity, it is about votes at the end of the day, the Brexit MPs are throwing Brexit through the window over a THEORY of the BACKSTOP.  Lady T is spinning in her grave.

Lets Get Real:

The UK Treasury is FULL OF REMAINERS, and at the head is the Chancellor.  The HARD REMAINERS want to THWART Brexit, they will use any devious method to prevent the UK leaving the EU.   This blogger was unlucky to end up chatting to two North Wales farmers, they were more loyal to the EU than to democracy.   Not a good idea to talk about politics in a pub when people have been drinking.    The media and political elite in London care more about the EU than the UK and democracy, they seem to forget that over 17 million people voted to leave the UK, they are more interested in what business says, the wishes of the British voter is of no importance.   The chief culprits are the BBC News and Sky News, this blog has given up watching those sections of the news when it comes to Brexit, they tend to be full of remainers given their views, democracy does not get a mention.   The UK voter has to be on guard, the political elite think they know best, it does remind of a well known UK PUB chain ( it's end end of the year, and this blog is going to be a lot harsher, nice gets you NO RESPECT. )   

Hammond and the Big Digital Companies - Budget Update 4 - May Era

Guardian: Reports " Hammond also promised to introduce a special tax on Amazon, Facebook and other digital giants in April 2020 raising £400m a year although he warned that if the Brexit talks collapsed he would have to hold an emergency budget in the spring.  "

Lets Get Real:

Even the LEFT will like the FACT that Chancellor Hammond has announced a special tax on the digital giants, it is about time that they paid more, they are getting far to much profit, some of that could be used for the NHS, Defence and tax cuts.   The left NEVER like Conservative budgets, it will be interesting to see the reaction of the press and the 24/7 news networks.  As I stated with the US, it is the same in the UK, everything is political.  A Budget even more so.   This blog thinks that the Budget will appeal to workers, tax cuts, cuts in beer, a freeze on fuel charges.  Also welfare gets more funds, what is not to like.

One would be surprised if many Conservatives rebel against the Budget, the Chancellor hit all the marks, income tax cuts, increase spending on the NHS, Welfare State and important to the Conservative right, defence spending was increased.   This is the kind of budget that Conservative MPs can sell, one constant moan was that welfare needed more money, that has been done by this budget.  As said in previous post, let's see the small print, it is always the small print that gets you. 

The Budget - Update 2 - May Era

Sky News: Reports " Mr Hammond said his third budget was about helping "the strivers, the grafters and the carers" and would pave the way for a "brighter future".  "

This is Budget is for workers, those that actually vote, one good aspect in the increase in the National Living Wage from £7.83 to £8.21 an hour from April 2019, welfare should not be a choice, welfare should be the last safety net, the Conservatives are making an appeal to Middle England, the Labour Party was never going to support the budget, they will try to block it, it will be interesting to see what the DUP do with their votes.  There could be an early election. 

The End of Austerity in the UK - May Era

BBC News: Reports " Philip Hammond has said the "era of austerity is finally coming to an end", in his last Budget before Brexit.  "

Lets Get Real:

This was a FEEL GOOD BUDGET, lets see after a few days what the small print says, past Budgets have fallen apart because of a unseen political cost.   There are tax cuts, well the level you pay tax goes up, for the middle class and the rich ( they tend to vote ) also a freeze on fuel hikes, also a freeze on the cost of beer.   The Chancellor stated yesterday that should there be no EU deal then another Budget might have to take place, this was reversed by No 10.  The promises in the Budget will go forward.   Of course the Labour Party opposed, they promise a lot, but also wreck the economy when they get in, thus 2010.  It will be interesting to see the political polls after a few days. 

The Conservative Party Conference - May Era

Lets Get Real:

The Chancellor is right but he has a tin year when it comes to politics, he wants to remain close to the EU, while a majority of the Conservative Party wants to leave and have a very long distance relationship with the EU.   The most interesting speech will be the one given by the PM, will she keep to her Brexit plan or is she open to a canada free trade deal plus plus with the EU.   On the whole the Cabinet has kept together, they have supported the PM, but a month is a long time in politics, let's see what happens over the next few weeks. 

The Chancellor and Brexit - Brexit Update 3 - Post Brexit

Guardian -Live Reporting: Reports in its 3.27pm post the following from Chancellor Hammond, " Hammond, the chancellor, claimed a basic free trade agreement of the kind proposed by the EU would not deliver what both sides wanted....He downplayed the significance of the tough stance adopted by the EU today, saying that was just what you would expect from any “very skilled negotiator” "

Lets Get Real:

The Chancellor is a firm remainer but is keeping to the May script.   The draft outline by the EU is just the start of the talks, both sides will have to give and take.   The UK has the monies that the EU wants for its budget, thus is not powerless, while the EU can grant access to the Customs Union and the single market.   The UK is closer to the EU than other free trade deals done by the EU, also outside economics we  have a common history , well since 1945.  Also we share frameworks for security and other areas.   The deal should not be that hard to do.   It depends IF both sides come to the table is an open and non ideological manner.

The UK and the EU Custom Union - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

This blog is open to compromise, of course it depends what it is, if it STOPS the UK doing trade deals, then NO, the UK voter voted for a sovereign Parliament to do deals with other Countries, for the UK to decide who comes here, no more money to the EU.   The UK should and could stand alone, the EU needs us MORE than we need them.  On the other hand, life is about deals and compromise, let's see what kind of Brexit the Government comes up with, will it be a SOFT or HARD Brexit. 

The UK Cabinet and the Brexit - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

The UK Cabinet is divided and is leaking like the Titanic, and only a few lifeboats left, the PM has to decide who she can annoy and how much damage they can do to her and the UK.   In this view of this blog the PM has only one real choice, she needs to sack the Chancellor, he is a moaning remainer, also he is very boring and does not have much support on the Conservative backbenches, while sacking the Foreign Secretary could cause more problems, it would be seen as a victory for the remainers.  The PM can not go on like this she needs to find her inner Lady Thatcher, she should ask herself what would the Iron Lady do in such a event.

The PM needs a quick word with the Chancellor, she has to remind him that SHE is the PM and Chancellors can be sacked, the Conservative Party is united on the whole in leaving the EU.   The moaning remainers in the Conservative Party and Labour Party will never accept the fact the UK voter voted to leave the EU.  The PM should be VERY firm with the Chancellor, not blood on the carpet, but CLEAR that he can be sacked if he does not shut up.  The British people are tired of the moaning remainers not accepting the FACT that the UK wants OUT of the EU.

The PM needs to get a firm control of her Chancellor, the Chancellor well known moaning reaminer and thus will try any attempt top keep the UK close to the EU.  The British voter has decided that it wants out of the EU, we should not become a colony of the EU, Brexit should mean Brexit.   Lady Thatcher must be looking down and thinking that the Conservative Party is still as split as it was in her day, but in the other way around, the majority of Conservative MPs want out, let them make it clear to their colleagues that enough is enough, May needs to be another Iron Lady.

This is a fight between Chancellor Hammond and the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, the RIGHT view is the one stated by the Foreign Secretary, the UK did not vote to get out of the EU to become its colony.  The UK Parliament should decide UK laws, not the EU.  Any trade deal between the UK and the EU, should allow the UK Parliament to say yes or no, the UK should be allowed to do other trade deals, decide who comes in to the Country, UK being the final say on UK law not the EU, and the Irish border should not be a problem.  The only people who want to create a problem are the EU.   This fight must be won, text, phone, email, Facebook your MP to get them to support what the UK  people want, control of their futures.

The PM should just ignore the moaning remainers, her main concern should be the DUP, they support her Government in power, and if she does back track on what the Brexit MPs want she will find that she is out of No 10 in the new year.  The moaning remainers have no where to go, in less they want to join joint the Liberal Democrats,  they are attempting to stop BREXIT, the Chancellor is not helping, the idea he suggested that the UK would pay the divorce bill no matter the result was a political blunder, the PM should consider sacking the Chancellor, he has a tin ear for politics.   The PM has to be the next Lady Thatcher, she has to say no to EU and Ireland.

The HARD remainers such as the Guardian/BBC News will use any issue to attack Brexit, they do not seem to care any more about being balanced, they are so in love with the EU that they would rather be run by the EU.   The left wing media has to be held to account, they do represent what the majority of the UK voters want, they want out of the EU, and in fact would prefer a HARD BREXIT.   The HARD remainers want the cancer of the EU to be stuck to the UK post Brexit, let us hope that the HARD Brexit supporters in the Conservative party hold the PM to the wants of the UK voter, out and fast if possible.

When one thinks of Philip Hammond, when one has to, you think about a BORING Bank Manager, that is the point, the Chancellor is the money man but also he is a politician, it seems Hammond has taken the Bank Manager routine to far, the Brexiteers do not trust him, his own PM does not like him, and he has to deal with the EU.   A good PM needs to be a good political butcher, it is time that Hammond went back to the backbenches, you need a bit of charisma when your Chancellor, why not Borish Johnson for Chancellor, that should keep the leavers happy, the remainers will have to find a new standard bearer in the Cabinet. 

The Left Wing Guardian and Brexit - Post Brexit

Guardian: Has an Editorial on the Brexit plans for a new Custom Union with the EU, the article states the following, " But it represents a political victory for the chancellor, Philip Hammond, in his efforts to save the government from the prime minister’s insane readiness to take the UK over a March 2019 cliff edge with the EU rather than confront the Daily Mail. It means Mrs May’s earlier claim that no deal with the EU is better than a bad deal is now in the dustbin of history. This is something to welcome in an otherwise confused document. "

Lets Get Real:

IF the left wing Guardian is having a go at, it must be alright, there will need to be a transition period, one would not expect World trade to stop because the UK has left the EU.   The question is how LONG, it should be a few years,  there needs to be an end date, it can not be used to keep the UK in the EU.   Also the UK should not pay a farthing to the EU, as stated they need us more than we need them, the EU Countries will know be dominated by the Germans and their Bank.   The Kaiser would have loved the idea.

Those that lost the EU vote will try to use any method to remain in the EU, they refuse to accept the Democratic will of the UK voter.   PM May should announce this year that the UK will leave the EU and not wait for March of next year.   IF the remain side had won they would have said that it was it, enough, the UK had made up its mind, now we see that the liberal elite in London do not care about Democracy when they lose, the government should press on with LEAVING THE EU.
