The Power of the Doctor was a love letter to Doctor Who during the 1980s, you have former companions and the 5th,6th,7th Doctors, 8th Doctor making their presence felt, there was the Master, brilliant but a mad hatter, then there were the Cybermen and their upgrade by the Master, they could regenerate, also Doctor Who would not still be around if the Daleks were not part of the mix.  This blog will not go in to spoilers, it was fun, moving, even Adric got a mention, Ace and Tegan had meaty roles, they helped the Doctor take on the Cybermen and Daleks, and the Master and defeated them ALL.  The 13th Doctor went out in style, she will be greatly missed, YES Ian, I said She.

Lets Get Real:

As the chairman of Wetherspoons supported Brexit through out the process we should support our local pubs.   It has been nice to get out and seeing real people getting along with their real lives, watching reality shows on TV for a while has been fun, but seeing people smile, having conversations and laughing is a must part of being alive, stuck at home for nearly 5 months has almost being annoying at watching CNN or the BBC when it comes to Brexit.    It is nice to shoot the breeze with other people, just talking about nothing, is part of being alive.   Let's hope we do not need a 2nd lockdown, that would be a disaster for the UK ECONOMY.

When YOU LOSE your PHONE - Modern Culture

After the mess that was the House of Commons this afternoon, let's talk about something that is IMPORTANT, when you lose your phone or to be more precise, when you manage to block your self out of it by accident.  My mobile was VERY old, most of the memory was taken up by a internet provided firewall, the problem is when I tried to get rid of it, the phone blocked me out.   The phone would send a new PIN number but it would only send it to my gmail account on the mobile, when I could not access because the phone was blocked.   The old mobile, yes we are talking the early 1980s here was a brick, of course since then the mobile has developed, now its like your third hand, you only realise you have lost something when you can not access the d-m thing.

Thus last night I tried to access my gmail account via my laptop, the problem was that I had forgotten the password to it, thus had to get my email account to send a recover key from my other email account.  Then I tried to manually restore my phone from the site of my firewall and virus checker, the problem was it did not work, every time I reset my pin for my phone it did not work.  My the end I was totally confused.   Thus I had hope this morning that if I went to my local computer shop they could fix it, well after nearly an hour I was give the telephone numbers for BT ( free call ) to get the number I wanted, my reaction was thanks a lot.

As will all things my mother came up with a solution, why not go the mobile providers shop and see if they could so something, and YES they could, it cost me £170 pounds, but it solved it, got a new phone with new memory and got my phone back with my number.  I have left the hours travelling from my home to the shop. just to get a new phone.  Thus lesson, if you are going to play with you phone, better leave to it to an expert, so if it goes wrong, it is their problem. 

What is LOVE and WHEN can it HAPPEN? - Culture

It is  a question that has been asked for centuries, what is LOVE, is it mental connection, lust, context, or is it destined.   This blog will discuss the case of Edward and Marie ( names changed to protect identity ).   Edward used to have red hair when he was young, and was fat and had BAD TEETH.  Edward in Junior School was in the slow class, he was not good at any subject, with the exception of History.  YOU ask when does Marie come come in to the article, that requires context, Edward and Marie were born a day apart at the same small hospital, and their mothers stuck a friendship, the Hospital did not have  a lot of cots, thus Edward and Marie shared the same cot.   Over the years, Edward's mother would remind him that he shared a cot with Marie, if fact it quite annoyed him.  Marie lived outside the town, so they did not meet in their early years.

As it was a custom in the 1980s, those going from Junior School would be taken to the Secondary School to see it, well the day arrived, Edward to this day recalls the day, he was only 11, there was Terry Wogan on the radio, this was before Breakfast TV, well before anything really, no wifi, no mobile phones, no blogs, and of course people had black and white TV with three chanel's.   The day started with Edward's mother calling him down for breakfast, it was normally tea and toast or porridge, must it admit it was rather nice porridge, warm, filled you up and nice tea ( that has not changed, tea is still the best ).   This was a day Edward had dreaded, he was going to visit his new Secondary School, Edward in fact had wanted to stay in his junior school, at least he knew everyone, well those in his class.   Before going off to School, his mother reminded him that he should be on the lookout for Marie, Edward thought she would mention that FACT.  The walk, and people walked, from the junior school, down the deep lane, cross the zebra crossing, down the bridge, and through the local Park to the School ( let's call it Chairhouse School ), Edward and his friends, reached the gate, the school was up a semi long hill, so we marched in order and then we were there, our home from  the next six years.   At first we were taken around the classes, only our group, the group that included Edward, he could recall the smell, everything was fresh, or felt like it, everyone was in school uniform ( Edward would learn to love that uniform, it gave order to his life, Edward was only 11 but he knew order when it saw it, and liked it, he understood, the best days of your life was school, formatted, classes, breaks, lunch and then home, no worries about taxes and getting a job.

At the end of the walking session around the classes, we were taken to see the gym, that was not something Edward wanted to see, as stated, he was fat and he found sports a bore, his father was the great sportsman, singer, popular, Edward might look him, strong DNA there, but he was the complete opposite, and did not try to compete, you are still wondering about MARIE, we are getting there, then as stated we came to the gym, we were told to stand by the walls, in groups, I look to see the names on the badges the school had given us, then I saw the name and looked up.  It was fair to say Edward felt like a mountain had fallen on him, he just knew he was in LOVE with her, he had not spoken to her, she did not seem to notice him, that was good, as Edward when embarrassed went red and with red hair that looked bad.  Edward could not take his eyes off her, she was tall, red hair and green eyes, the perfection of love.

As of that point Edward could not wait to get to Secondary School, he just wanted to see her, she was all he would think about for five years.   Edward being shy, fat and with red hair was VERY SHY, in five years he seemed to make it plain that Marie was the one for him, since he had told no one, it just seem to come out.   Thus for next five years Edward always gave a her birthday present and christmas, without saying anything, these days we would call that staking, well this was the 1980s, we did not have behind the bike sheds as they had in the OLD DAYS, well the 1960s and our school was poor.  So question dead reader, was this LOVE, LUST or just GROWING PAINS.   This blogger likes to think it was LOVE, in its purest form, the only time the School bully really hurt Edward, was when he while pushing Edward harshly by  a door stated  that Marie had asked him out, in the nearly six years of violence, was the only time Edward felt hurt.  On the hand, Edward was happy that Marie had asked him out, this showed that his romantic quest had not touched on her ability to have  a good time and get on with her life.  

Thus the lesson is it does not matter when you fall in love, if your 11 to 60, you need to make your feelings known, what can happen, you are told to get lost, saves time,  five a years is a long time to be doing a romantic quest, that might be a delsion.   Also you fall into trap of falling for someone again, when your in Uni and do the same thing, so learn from this lesson.   Here endeth the LESSON. 

New Year Resolutions and Culture - 2019

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year, let's see if you can keep to New Year resolutions, mine was simple and the most complex, TO STOP DRINKING, I know everyone says that after a heavy New Year's Even drinking sessions but this is different.   When you are in your late 40s, well 49, do you want to be that guy who is in his 60s holding up the BAR, trying to chat up 50 year olds, God forbid if you try to chat up 20s year olds, that would be sad and so wrong, in less your a actor, pop star or VERY RICH or famous.    This blog has been drinking since it  was 21, Further Education and University can do that, if you do not you have a very restrictive social life.    It time to END the interest.  This blog could never see the point of going out and not drinking, having a half black current and water seems a bit of a bore,  also this blog has never trusted anyone that has never drinken, as if they are afraid their real self will come out.

Those that have been kind enough to read this blog, might think it has something to do with a " Saturday Incident " that this blog has mentioned, that issue has been cleared up, honour respected on both sides, and this blog has always said that the pub chained mentioned does excellent food, great staff ( on the whole ) and is a nice place to eat.   This blog is not reversing itself on the comments, but it is the New Year, the one thing with OCD is that you can go on and on about a subject, forever, those with OCD will understand, others should read up about the subject.    This blog will be more honest about OCD, it is not something that will just go away!! Also during this Festive season this blog has not been taking his tablets, NEVER TAKE TABLETS IF YOU ARE DRINKING.   As this blog is stopping drinking, with one exception, Brexit Day on March 29th, either to Celebrate at Wetherspoon's Pwllheli, the owner is a firm Brexit support or drown by sorrows that the media and political elite have stolen Brexit from the UK voter.  THAT ONE EXCEPTION, always have a Plan B.

This blog will publish more of its fictional stories, this blog has tried the GREAT NOVEL, it was rejected, it will give it something to do on Saturday when it is not drinking.   This blog is always truthful if subjective, most things are subjective.   Whatever your resolution, no more drinking, get a better job, be better to the other half, take the dog out for more walkies, try to keep to them, Let this blog know if you have been successful or have failed so far!

Hard Remainer Chancellor BLOCKS NO Deal Funding!! - Post Brexit

The UK Treasury is FULL OF REMAINERS, and at the head is the Chancellor.  The HARD REMAINERS want to THWART Brexit, they will use any devious method to prevent the UK leaving the EU.   This blogger was unlucky to end up chatting to two North Wales farmers, they were more loyal to the EU than to democracy.   Not a good idea to talk about politics in a pub when people have been drinking.    The media and political elite in London care more about the EU than the UK and democracy, they seem to forget that over 17 million people voted to leave the UK, they are more interested in what business says, the wishes of the British voter is of no importance.   The chief culprits are the BBC News and Sky News, this blog has given up watching those sections of the news when it comes to Brexit, they tend to be full of remainers given their views, democracy does not get a mention.   The UK voter has to be on guard, the political elite think they know best, it does remind of a well known UK PUB chain ( it's end end of the year, and this blog is going to be a lot harsher, nice gets you NO RESPECT. )   

Wetherspoon Does not look after Regulars - STOP DRINKING in Pwllheli

It is rare for this blog to make critical comments outside it's political or historical interests, but this time this blog must make a STAND, it is about the lack of customer care by Wetherspoon's in Pwllheli.   The incident occured on Saturday, this blog goes to pub every Saturday, normally for a meal and of course to drink.   As I was some distance from the Bar I WAS ill, I was not near or any place close to the pub.  I become ill, I must admit I had been drinking, but when your ill your ill.   After recovery and walking on to the pub I was told I could not go in.  This was a shock, when your are a loyal customer, there every week for years and one thought on good terms with the security staff one was shocked, I asked if I came back later on if I could come in, the said I might be allowed.   I went on my merry way, then came back to the pub, I did consider it my local, my place for a drink and to eat.   Then I was told I was barred for that night, I was shocked and hurt, when one goes there often one expects that the management and staff would have asked IF I was okay, they just said NO ENTRY, after years of going there. One of the security staff was over aggressive, I thought he was going to have a stroke, if you hire OLD people for security that is what you get!!  Age does not bring wisdom!l just lack of brain power.   I asked to speak to the management, they security staff refused, I phoned the local number, the Manager it seems was hiding in his OFFICE.    I let it go in till today, then I went there very early, they do an excellent bacon and tea, ( I shall miss those and the late dinner ) I was given the run around again, the Manager was on the phone, then she was doing the cooking, managers doing the cooking, they must be hard up.   I was told to come back at 3pm, I shall give them the courtesy that they do not give me and shall return.   But I am afraid my use of the Pub is at an end, if they treat loyal and regular customers like that then they must not care for the average person.   It is pity the owner of the Chain is a Brexit supporter, he just seems to hire old staff with no wisdom and young staff who do not care about THE CUSTOMER, LOYAL CUSTOMERS.

This blog is happy that Justice Kavanaugh was confirmed and has been sworn on to the bench, but Republicans and Conservatives have to be careful, the Democrats in the House have said that they might try to impeach the Justice, Republicans and Conservatives need to vote in the November elections.   The Democrats will try anything to subvert the Supreme Court, as one Democratic  Senator has said, an accused must prove he is innocent, not the other way around.   The Republican Party and the President need to get the VOTE out, the Democrats could still win the House, and try to subvert the Trump Agenda. 

The Kavanaugh Confirmation hearing - Final Round on Saturday - Trump Era

BBC News: Reports " Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court is all but certain. The Republican Party has the votes and the battle appears over. The political war, however, is just beginning.  "

Lets Get Real:

This is a GOOD day for Justice, the confirmation hearings of Judge Kavanaugh have turned nasty, supporters have followed their political parties, if your a Republican you support Kavanaugh and see the allegations as a way to smear a Conservative Judge, if your a liberal, you do not care about the truth, you just want to destroy the Judge.   The time in College or University should be about learning, if your straight, gay, or something in between, of course sexual relationships should be about consent, no will will argue against that, the point is when you bring an allegation after nearly 40 years, that does rise questions, one is innocent before one is found guilty by a Court.  This battle is part of the culture wars, there will be other battles.

In modern American culture we have the snowflake generation, they do not want to hear Conservative arguments, they think ALL men have the ability to be rapists or attackers.   The question I ask, if Kavanaugh was a liberal Nominee would the accuser have come forward and why didn't she come forward when the Judge was nominated for lesser Courts.   An allegation of sexual assault is serious, but there must some kind of evidence to back it up, you can not destroy someone who has had a perfect record throughout his life but then someone comes up with allegation from over thirty years ago.    The President won the election in 2016, the Democrats are fighting the culture wars, they are fighting in the trenches, the right must fight back.

The memory is a fickle thing, we change it as to keep in line with who we think we are, that can be negative and positive, so to the Kavanaugh case, this blog thinks that elections has results, Trump wants Kavanaugh on the bench, the Conservative voters wants him on the bench, it is just liberals who are trying to STOP him and will use anything they can to STOP him.  IF you have ever been to University or College you know that drinking goes on, it is were you learn to be a semi adult before you enter the work place.   Anyone can make allegations, if they are true is another matter, so far there is not enough to stop Kavanaugh becoming a Judge on the Supreme Court.

The Republican Senator Jeff Flake has shown that he has NO BACKBONE, after a few critical comments by a woman he wants it both ways, he wants to allow Judge Kavanaugh to go before the FULL SENATE, but wants the FBI to carry out an investigation over a incident that took place over thirty years ago, and wants a report done by the FBI in under a week.   It is up to the Oval Office to say yes or no to a the FBI request, the Oval should say NO and force Flake either to vote for Kavanaugh or not, make it clear to other Republicans the political cost of voting NO.   Time for reality to be shown to the weak Republican Senators.
