It would be surprising if former VP Harris becomes the Nominee again, she lost it 2024, this blog can only think of 2 Presidents who came back from losing the general election, they were Nixon in 1968 after losing in 1960 and Trump in 2024 who lost it 2020, whatever he says on the subject.  In 2028, the 1st Democratic Primary will be South Carolina, a large African American vote, that should help Harris and Senator Booker.  The former is not a good candidate, one hopes the Democrats chose a moderate nominee like Bill Clinton or Obama at a push, the 2028 cycle should start after the Mid Terms, there a long list of potential Democratic candidates.

This shows how out of date POTUS is, the American election process has become part reality show since the 1960 election, JFK was better on  TV than Nixon, thus the Camelot years, even if it was all PR.   It was conformed by the elections since 1980, the candidates good on TV won, Reagan, Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 43, Obama, Trump, the exception you can argue was 2020, and Biden was hiding in his Delaware Bunker and the press covered for him, they hated Trump.   This blow does not like Trump but does not hate him, there is a difference.   The 1st Trump and Biden debate was a disaster for Biden, thus 12 days later we are still stalking about it, the process is like Chinese water torture, we watch to see if Biden makes a mistake, he did during the NATO Summit, he called the President of the Ukraine, President Putin and called his own Vice President, VP Trump.  The rally speech was okay, POTUS did mumble a  few times, but he had a teleprompter, he has NBC interview set for Monday, that will be another test, Trump must be laughing his backside off, the Republican Convention starts on Monday, one does hope the Democratic mess comes to end, one way or another!!

This blog watched the debate drunk, it was best, if you think about it, it was 1960 all over again, charisma over substance, POTUS looked tired and ill, that was the reason that the campaign used after the debate.  The CNN view of the debate above is being kind, what the reporters can not understand is how bad Biden was during the debate but was on form after the debate, that is simple, that is the real Biden when faced with pressure, God help the US and the West, while on the campaign is relaxed with supporters and has a teleprompter.   The Democrats will not replace Biden, he is the Democratic nominee, ALSO it would look like the Democrats were trying to steal the election with a new candidate.   If you had Mrs Obama it might work or Hillary Clinton, it might just work, the stress is might, neither women would want to be in this mess.  Also who would tell POTUS its OVER, no on has the backbone or cares enough about the US, so the US and the West might need to get ready for a 2nd Term for Trump.

It is fair to argue that the taped conversation between Trump and a Georgian official, could cross the line when it comes to State or Federal LAW, but the real worry is that Trump will take action over Iran or Iran might try to force the issue before Biden becomes President.  One can assume that Biden will appease Iran, the sanctions will be lifted and the US and the UN will try to get the Obama agreement restored, that will help with the Obama legacy.  Of course one can be critical of Trump, he has lost he plot, but not when it comes to IRAN, they are already increasing their nuclear capacity that is well over the agreement signed by Obama and Iran.  Thus President Biden will try to restore a flawed agreement, the real worry is what he is going to do about Russia and North Korea, the Democrats have been critical of Trump when it comes to Putin, but what to they plan to do about it, while North Korea is nuclear armed, is Biden going to go to war with North Korea, one has doubts.  Time will tell.

At least Obama has not been negative, in 1960 a reporter asked Ike what Nixon has done in the White House as Vice - President, the former General was very blunt, he told him that it would take 7 days to think of answer to that question.  It has been noticeable that Obama has been quiet with his former Vice - President about to enter the Democratic Presidential race, the former VP has called himself a Obama/Biden Democrat, whatever that means.   As a practice former Presidents not speakout when their Party is going through a nomination process, thus President Obama wants to see Biden win on his own and then support him.  But the allegations that Biden touched women but not in a sexual way has been the main Democratic news headline over the past few days, one would have thought that Obama would have said something in public, just a few seconds on how nice and fun his former VP is, or that Biden will learn from his mistakes, silence gives the impression that Obama does not want to be connected to someone who might LOSE the nomination.   If you expect political loyalty from a Chicago pol then you are in the wrong business.

It is interesting to speculate if HRC had called President Trump a creep at the debates she could be President of the United States now, not Trump, the US wants strong leaders, not people that will just take on the chin and not react, Ronald Reagan was Presidential when compared to Jimmy Carter who was going through the Iran hostage crisis, he acted and looked OLD on the TV.  By comparison Reagan who was older looked young and ready to be President.   When you think of the modern Era, JFK and Reagan did not need the Presidency to look Presidential.

The 2016 US Presidential Election will go down in history, it was not meant to end like it did, it recalls that famous photo of President Truman showing the headline from a newspaper that stated that he had lost the election, he of course had won.   In 1960 there was the close election between Kennedy and Nixon, and the iffy ballots in two States, in 2000 Gore should have won but he lost Florida and did not win his own home State.   In 2016 nearly ALL the polls showed that Hillary Clinton would win, and become the first woman President.  Well in the end Trump won the rust belt States.  As a contributor on CNN stated that DATA does not vote, the Clinton Campaign thought it understood the election process and how to engage the voter, through tracking mass data, it was bad mistake to make.   The LIBERAL LEFT will always blame the Russians, or the FBI, what they can not see and refuse to see is the FACT that HRC was a bloody bad candidate, she thought she was owed the Oval Office by right, in fact the US voter said NO, and they said that NO in the rust belt States, thus the electoral college win of Trump. 

The Debate Part 2 - Election 2016

Thus my projection for tonight, well on basic political grounding the debate should go to HRC.  The candidate and her campaign know this could be IT, the time that the US voters decide on the result.   On the other hand in 1960 JFK won the first debate, those that just heard the debate on the radio thought Nixon had won, and in the further debates the Nixon Campaigned closed the contest down, thus making the narrow historic win for JFK.    The next time there were Presidential debates was in 1976, Nixon decided he was not going through 1960 again in 68 or 72.  In 1976 President Ford stated that Eastern Europe was not under the control of the USSR, that cost the Ford Campaign.   On January 1977 Jimmy Carter was elected.  In 1980 88 million Americans watched the Carter vs. Reagan debate. the Gipper won and then the election.  In 1992 Bush 41 showed his distaste for the debate by looking at watch, as to check when it would be finished.   The only result was the he was finished and thus come the Clintons.   The above are examples, it will be interesting to see who WINS tonight and the perceived winner after a few days.

The advice to candidates is RELAX on stage, smile, make the voter feel you're happy to be there, if the above does not work for the you, FAKE IT, the voter has to be happy at the thought that they will see you for between the next four to eight years on their TV screens.    WHAT NOT TO DO, do not look unhappy, dont not look smug; that is for more Trump; keep your face normal while you listen to the question and the answer from the opposition.   There is no pressure, just it is expected that a 100 million Americans will be watching, do not mess it up.

This is about legacy when it comes to President Obama, he wants to be the modern Reagan who transfers his base to his successor thus allowing the Democrats to have three terms in the Oval Office.   The question is not the Democratic base but the winder voters, if this is change election then HRC could be toast, the US voter it seems is tired of the Republican and Democratic Establishment, they want REAL change, thus Trump could come from behind, the HRC Campaign and the White House will have to use POTUS in a clever manner, send his to States were his popularity is over 50%, if they happen to be swing States more the better, this race will be close, very close, 1960 or 2000 close.

Those that were alive in the 1980s recall that at the start there was the fear that the Cold War would go hot, the left thought Ronald Reagan would start World War 3, but the reverse happened, Ronald Reagan helped by his wife with the support of Lady Thatcher broke the ice with the USSR, there were talks, by the end of the Reagan Era the Cold War was a thing of history, it can be argued that 1960, 1980, 2000 were important election years in the US, and the right candidate won in 1980.  As said this is sad day for the US, but also for Eastern Europe, they went from under the hammer of the USSR to freedom, a debt that has its origins with the Reagans, Lady Thatcher and President Gorbachev of the then USSR.

As noted in the article few US politicians  want to be compared to tricky Dicky Nixon.   But in this case one can see the argument, Nixon lost his bid for Presidency in 1960 and then in 62 lost his bid to be Governor of California.  In the case of Hillary Clinton she was the front runner for the 2008 Democratic nomination, but lost to then Senator Obama, after that she become his Secretary of State, that could cause problems in the 2016 race if the Obama record does not improve when it comes to the Middle East and Russia.  Thus far the Clinton Camp face no REAL threats to her getting the nomination, VP Biden is a joke and Senator Warren does not want to go up against the Clinton machine, that shows some clever politics, she could be trying out for the VP spot, two women running would be a bold move by the Democrats.   The liberal elite media are throwing their political arrows at the Republicans, they are doing the job for the Democrats, thus when HRC does get in to the race she will look fresh, will have the left wing media on her side, thus far wise tactics by the Clinton Camp.

Do the US voters want another Nixon in the White House, the above story sounds very Nixon, the Crown was there for the taking by Hillary Clinton but she lost to President Obama, the Clintons never forgive, and the use of the race card on Bill Clinton is something one can understand the lack of forgiveness for, Bill Clinton was seen as the 1st black President, and for the Obama Campaign to use the race card must have hurt Bill Clinton,  also long term friends got on the USS Obama and left the Clintons on the shore, Hillary Clinton was made Secretary of State, and President Obama tried to get on with Bill for a limited time, just he didn't need the constant talks.  Bill Clinton likes to talk, as President he was never on time, correction, when he was sworn in as President.    Fun time ahead for Americans, will Hillary run, will she win, and what will the Old Dog do in the White House. 

Romney WINS 1st Debate - US Election 2012

Lets Get Real: 

It was interesting folks, as this blog has called the election for Obama it was more interested in what a 2nd Obama term would look like, thus my tweets of last night, in doing so this blog missed something, its how the Candidates appeared before the voters.   Thus while this blog had Romney winning the debate on substance it did not really take in to account the manner of either candidate.    Thus this blog fell in to 1960s trap, let me explain, those that listened to the 1960 debate between Kennedy and Nixon thought Nixon had won on substance, but of course it was the start of the TV age, and Kennedy won on PR.   Thus as mentioned by commentators Romney looked happy to be there, up for a fight, while POTUS wished he was anywhere else.  It showed.   This blog still thinks Obama is going to WIN, but it will be narrow, and there will be no mandate, just a 2nd term.  It was a good show by Romney if to late, it might help in Congressional races, the 2nd debate should be fun folks, Obama can not afford another bad debate. 

Obama vs. Romney - The Polls

Thus lets have a look at the weekend polls folks.

Rasmussen Reports ( LV ): Reports on its daily tracking poll, today Governor Mitt Romney leads President Obama by 47% to 44%. A 3% lead.

Gallup Poll ( RV ): Reports on its daily tracking poll, today President Obama leads Governor Romney by 47% to 46%. A 1% lead.

Bonus Poll:

RCP: Reports on the average of all the polls that match up President Obama versus Governor Romney, today President Obama leads Governor Romney by 46.4% to 46.1%. A lead of 0.3%.

Lets Get Real:

Thus folks so far the Romney bounce from the RNC is small to say the least, with the margin of error ( MofE) you are looking a feeble bounce if that, so lets see if the polls improve of the next couple of days. On the whole this blog thought that Romney had a good convention, he is no Reagan, but neither is Obama these days, let see if President Obama gets a bounce from the DNC. Thus folks it down to the debates, this follows the examples of Kennedy vs. Nixon in 1960, Carter versus Ford in 1976, Reagan versus Carter in 1980 and Bush 43 versus Gore in 2000. Also lets see how Romney Campaign is effective now that it millions more that team Obama to spend. The fun of negative advert folks.

Romney RNC Speech

Telegraph: Reports on the forthcoming speech by Governor Mitt Romney at the Republican National Convention, " ..poised to finally confront the questions over his Mormon faith and capitalist career..".

Lets Get Real:

This is a risky strategy folks, it deals with the two biggest negatives against Romney as seen by the liberal elite media. One can promise that the uber liberal media will try to give the impression that the Mormon faith is flaky, they would never have done that to JFK in the 1960 election, also they will stress Democratic talking points that Romney has not released his tax returns, one does not recall the uber media press going after how JFK funded his campaign through the money of his infamous father. Thus the Governor should it keep it simple, honest, and very direct, do not give the media the chance to undermine the speech with basic faults. Thus the fight is on folks.

Obama and the Swing States

Lets Get Real:

It not even August yet folks, Governor Romney has not picked a VP, the there is the National Conventions and finally the all import Debates. Also lets not forget the fact that the Obama Camp has out spent Romney in this early stage, nearly all the Obama adverts are negative. Thus the fact that Romney and Obama are tied in most polls is great for Romney. It would be great if Romney was ahead, but the plus for the Romney Camp is the fact that they will have more money on hand when the race really starts after Labour Day in the US. The polls in September and October are important folks, if Obama is ahead and this blog thinks he will win it will say so, its a Conservative blog but its not blind. It wants to be right. It is just to early to say folks. The Presidential Debates could be the decider as they were in 1960, 1976, 1980 and 2000. Thus if your a Republican you should not be that depressed but if your a Democrat do not be to cocky, events, events folks.

2nd Kennedy Shooter - RFK

Lets Get Real:

Nina Rhodes-Hughes was there that night, and has stated that the FBI changed her story. Folks like the JFK assassination its one of the great Ifs of history, had the assassination attempt not happen or had Kennedy lived would US history have been different. One can postulate that RFK would have beaten Nixon in 1968 as President Kennedy had beaten Nixon in 1960. But and, and this is a big BUT folks, LBJ at the end tried to help the Democratic Nominee in 1968, it was a close result in Nixon’s favour, one can argue that LBJ would have done all he could have done to make sure Nixon won in 1968 if RKF had been the nominee, they hated each other with a fury unmatched in modern US politics. The worse fear that LBJ had was that he would be considered the man between the Kennedy’s, thus it can also be argued that Nixon with the underhanded help of LBJ might have won with a bigger victory. As to the new statement on the assassination, if there had been a 2nd gunman the story would have come out, it’s a get out of jail car in many respects either for the information or coming forward with the proof. Although this blog does not dismiss the statement it would need more evidence, thus far none, thus it was s sole killer.

Dallas Proof ? - JFK Assassination

Folks having looked at the picture, its not something this blog would go to Court on, but then the assassination of JFK has very much overshadowed his entire Presidency. Lets be honest folks JFK is the most overrated President in US history, his greatness comes from one action, the secret deal he did with the USSR over Cuba, the Russians would take out their missiles and the US under the counter would take their missiles out of Turkey. Lets postulate that JFK sold out Turkey, and more damaging told the USSR that if they told the press about the deal it was off, this was more politics that anything. Then we come to two issues, Vietnam and Kennedy’s woman, it has been argued for years that Kennedy would not have gotten in to land war in Asia, that it was all the fault of LBJ. This blog does not buy that folks, Kennedy had to draw a line somewhere in the sand when it came to the USSR, the Kennedy Administration had allowed Berlin Wall to go up, it had not gotten rid of Castor, thus it could not afford to lose another Country to the Communist threat, thus South Vietnam. Lets recall it was JFK’s people around LBJ, the new President didn’t want Vietnam, but his tough policy was supported by all Kennedy’s people. The Attorney General Robert Kennedy didn’t resign over Vietnam. Thus the Vietnam War failures is a also a Kennedy failure. Then we come to Kennedy’s women, JFK's girlfriend was also the girlfriend of the Chief of the Chicago mob, the mob was under CIA contract trying to kill Casto, JFK could faced have a blackmail threat. Also as it has been alleged that JKF’s father bough off the mob to help in son in 1960. One can postulate that if Kennedy had lived the 2nd term would have seen scandal, Kennedy lived his life on the edge, but he was still a great President in his own way, just not in the same league as Reagan.

Cain and Sexual Allegations of Misconduct

The left wing media are going to be all over this folks, they will forget Bill Clinton, they always do if it’s a Democrat, so far the Cain Campaign has rejected the allegation, but the Candidate has to come out with a straight refusal. Lets look at the PR of this folks, it always hurts Republicans, either Cain has to say its not true at all and he cant be proven not to be telling the truth, or if there are any embers in the story he has to get it all out and hope the US voter is following the Clinton example of 1997, its what the politicians does on the job that counts not her personal life. Lets be honest JFK would not have gotten close to the Oval in 1960 if his personal life had come out, even now JFK would have a hard time, the press of yesterday might have covered for him, not today, go ask former Senator Edwards about sex scandals. The winner will be Governor Romney folks, so straight as to be boring, this might give a chance for Perry to come back, we shall see folks, Iowa is getting close, nearly eight weeks to go folks.
