Reagan  believed in Trust but verify when it came to the old USSR and they cheated, that is why the Treaty failed.  This has the hallmarks of another North Korea.  The removal of sanctions is a mistake, this will allow the corruption Tehran Regime to carry on.  The IAEA will have a big job to keep Iran from cheating, you cannot trust the theocracy.  At least Trump can declare victory, even if its FAKE.

This is the end of the era for treaties to control the nuclear arms of both Russia and the US.  As the article notes Trump wants a new Treaty that includes China, no chance, Russia wants to include the UK and France, no way that will happen, France is only a player on the World Stage because it has Nukes, the UK on the whole is a dependable ally of the US on the ground, of late Afghanistan and Iraq.  The Treaty that outlawed different kinds of Nukes, was the INF Treaty signed by Reagan and Gorbachev, that was allowed to expire, thus Europe would be a battle front should WW3 break out.  The Old order is gone, Nukes were meant to prevent Mutual Assured Destruction in Europe, the Trump Era has destroyed that, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine has shown that Nukes do not prevent Wars, Ukraine gave up its Nukes, after security guarantees from the US and Russia, the assurances were not worth the paper they were written on.   The Coalition of willing and the US are willing to give security guarantees to the Ukraine, and troops on the ground, the Russians object, we are back to pre WW2 days, Russia is Germany and the Ukraine is brave Poland.  The result is still unknown.

If Trump appeases Putin then his 2nd term will have been a MAJOR FAILURE, the same can be said of the Iran talks on Saturday.  2nd Term Presidents spend their time on Foreign Policy, they have more freedom to deal, after IRAN - CONTRA, Reagan bought the Cold War to an end and signed the INF Treaty, that the Russians cheated on.   Trump should look at Reagan for an example of a 2nd term rebound.

The Russians BROKE the INF Treaty by cheating, one would not be shocked to LEAR that the Russians have or will cheat on the New Start Treaty.  The Russian word is no good with Putin in the Kremlin.  President Reagan said in essence in his farewell address to the American people in 1989, when the then USSR ( Russia ) pulls a stunt, pull your first punch, when they carry on pull the plug.  The Russians are daily making nuclear threats over the Ukraine,  the nuclear sabre rattling could go WRONG, what if the Russians use a low yield nuclear device does POTUS then move in, the Biden Oval would have too, it would send the WRONG message not to ACT.  As President Reagan said, " Trust but verify " when there is good relationship, but do not be afraid to see the truth.  Putin is a rogue Leader leading a rouge Nation, one cannot excuse the Russian people, they are hardly on the Streets in protest.  They are being feed lies and have swallowed the PR from the Kremlin.

POTUS is right to be cautious, the Russians lied pre invading the Ukraine, how many times as President Macron phoned PUTIN and been give the run around.  The Russian Bear can never be trusted, the Russians broke INF Treaty, a foundation of nuclear disarmament by cheating, the US was right to revoke the agreement, the Russians can neve be trusted, thus we shall see if the Russian Army cuts back on its bombing of Kyiv and Chernihiv, it has been stated that Chernihiv was becoming another Mariupol, and what what about Mariupol, will the Russians allow the people to leave, will they stop the bombing.   It what's the Russians do that counts, the next few hours and days should tell us what the Russians are really up too in the Ukraine.  The West has to be wary that any PEACE DEAL will be short term and that Russia will try again under Putin to invade the Ukraine and the US and the UK will be left to fight back, as part of the security guarantee,  in other words WW3.

The Russians are upping the anti, Missiles that can be used as conventional or nuclear threat.  Of course the Russians are not going to nuke the Ukraine, they are far to close to Russia and the radiation would effect Russia.  The message is CLEAR, it shows that with the KREMLIN nothing is off the table.   Also it shows weakness, why place missiles that can be used in a conventional way and nuclear in the first place, its a mater of PR for the Russian people, that the WEST is a THREAT and thus Kremlin is taking care of business.  If WAR does break out, there are no guarantees it wont effect other East European Countries, there will be refugees in their millions and they have to go somewhere, that means the EU will be dragged in, and it only needs for the Russians to make a MISTAKE to drag in NATO.  The Russian Bear might have bitten off more than it can chew, is it looking for nuclear talks as way to save face, a NEW INF Treaty that they will keep too, they cheated on the last one.  Thus a reason to bring INF forces in to Belarus, a way out, just blue sky thinking.

Thu we have the meeting between the US Secretary of State and the Russian Foreign Minister on Friday in Geneva, one hopes that some kind of diplomatic way can be found for Russia to save face, Putin has boxed himself in, he wants NATO to say in Treaty form that the Ukraine will never joint NATO and those former Warsaw Countries in Eastern Europe who joined NATO will have their NATO troops removed with their equipment, this is a NO STARTER, even IF Biden wanted to do that he does not have the influence on the Hill.  It's Mid Terms year, no politician Republican or Democrat wants to be called a APPEASER in the shape o Neville Chamberlain of appeasement infamy.   The US and the West can agree on the need for new missiles treaty to replace the now defunct INF Treaty singed by Presidents Reagan and Gorbachev.  Also on a agreement on when the sides can have military drills.  This is the OUT for Putin, the question is will he take this deal.

The World owes a thanks to Shultz he was the great Secretary of State, in his diaries Reagan was full of admiration for his 2nd Secretary of State.   In this blog's opinion a dream American Administration, would have Reagan as President, who else, VP of course being Bush 41, while James Baker would be Chief of Staff.  The left was not always so full of administration for the Reagan Administration,  does any one recall the nuclear freeze that the LEFT wanted for the West while allowing the USSR to build up its nuclear defences.   This blog recalls George Shultz attending a Congressional Committee and being asked if he was aware that the Reagan Administration has not had a Summit meeting with the SOVIET UNION, so be it Schultz stated.   The Reagan administration being tough with the USSR, lead to the INF Treaty, the first Treaty to reduce nuclear weapons and then of course we have the downfall of the USSR.   The Reagan Administration deserves credit for this development and by accident Gorbachev.

You can not trust the Russians, they broke the INF Treaty on numerous instances and tried under the Clinton Administration to get the Treaty mothballed.   Then when President Trump revoked the Treaty they were highly critical.   The Russian Bear is always two faced when it comes to the West.   One hand they do a deal with Adolf Hitler and then expect thanks for resisting him when he invaded in 1941.   In 1980s Reagan supported SDI, a space based defence for the US, it was never funded correctly after Reagan left office, the left did not want to upset the Russians, well Russians have gotten the same idea as the great Ronald Reagan, move the theatre of War in to space and hobble the West from Space.    The US Congress should fund a new SDI scheme, one that will place the US ahead of the Russians, of course with an election coming up the Democrats will not support the scheme, the Trump Oval if it had any credibility would suggest the policy, but Trump is seen as being in bed with Putin.  Let's hope the US does not regret this lack of action in Space.

What do the Russians have on POTUS, its either personal or financial, why take this political hit and get nothing out of it.  If the Democrats were more hawkish when it comes to National Security they could shred Trump on the Hill and out on the campaign trail.   It seems that the Trump Oval has not noticed that Russians are still in the Crimea and are still fighting in East Ukraine.   The Russians have broken the INF Treaty for years and it's only of late that the US has negated the Treaty.  One does wonder what goes through the thought process when it comes to Trump, does he THINK long term, or just what will make the news via his Twitter feed.  It can be postulated that both JFK and Reagan would not have a high opinion of Trump, there is rhyme or reason to his madness.

It must be CLEAR to those that are kind to read this blog that this writer thinks the Gipper was the greatest President EVER.   The Reagan Revolution changed the domestic and international agenda.   President Trump bends over backwards to please Putin's Russia, he does not want the US to lead the World, the very opposite of President Reagan.   Let's be clear on the Reagan record, in the first term on the domestic front, he cut taxes, cut welfare, increased defence spending, challenged the the USSR in Afghanistan and Central America.  In a famous speech he called the USSR an " EVIL EMPIRE ".   He showed US leadership by invading Grenada to remove a Communist Coup.  In the 2nd term he started the process of ending the COLD WAR with President Gorbachev, in 1987 he called for Gorbachev to tear down the BERLIN WALL, also signed the INF Treaty with Gorbachev in the White House, on the domestic front reformed the tax system, this helped MAIN STREET, and then did immigration reform all this done while the House was controlled by Democrats.   It should be noted that he moved the US Supreme Court to the right, thus helping in the selection of Bush 43 as President in 2000.  Also his VP was his successor, that had not be done in over a hundred years, and has not been done since, Trump is NO REAGAN. 

North Korea tries to BLACKMAIL the US over its Nuclear Structure - Trump Era

It was expected that after the Summit between the US and North Korea that the two sides would sign some kind of agreement, it can be postulated that North Korea thought as stated with President Trump in trouble at home, that they could push him in to a bad agreement.   It would be interesting to see the notes of the meeting between TRUMP and KIM, will the White House publish them as to counter statements by the North Koreans.   The President was elected on the idea that he could make the BEST DEALS, so far with the exception of an update to NAFTA, the President has either failed to make agreements or negated past ones.  In the future if North Korea wants another Summit the US State Department should do the groundwork in detail, just to avoid POTUS having to travel half away around the World for a pointless meeting.   South Korea and Japan will be concerned that North Korea will go off the reservation and start to act up again, either with nuclear test or the use of missile tests.   The hawks on the Republican side and the Conservative Democrats ( there must be some around ) should make sure that the Trump Oval knows that it was right to walk away and that Republicans and Democrats on the Hill will be keeping eye on the OVAL OFFICE.  It should be noted that Reagan and Gorbachev had a failed Summit in late 1986, that was about removing ALL NUCLEAR WEAPONS, but it was the start of the end of the Cold War and it produced the INF Treaty that lasted from 1987-2019, it only ended when the Russians were found to have cheated on the Treaty.

As always President Reagan was RIGHT, the Russians have been cheating for years, in the past they have tried to get OUT of the INF Treaty, it was always the US Administrations who said NO.  As President Reagan stated, you trust but verify, and always see the truth, even if you do not like the answer.   The Russians have created new INF missiles that breach the OLD TREATY, also the US fears these developments by China, India and Pakistan.  On this the Trump Administration might be RIGHT.   The Russians have threatened an ARMS RACE, the Trump Oval should remind President Putin that the Russians lost the last one during the Cold War.   The US can build up its nuclear weapons and develop space weapons, President Reagan presented the ground work with SDI.  The Trump Administration has to be tough with the Russians, the Gipper would expect nothing else.

The problem is that we do not have the above great statesmen in office any more, we face a very different political climate, the Russians are cheating and China is becoming a bigger threat.   Russia under Putin is trying to get the USSR back, piece by piece, it can be argued that President Reagan himself would have been concerned about Russian cheating and would have scrapped the deal if the Russians did not back off.   The Washington Elite, well the press and TV as so anti Trump they will use anything to attack him, the press and TV have pushed the message that Bush 41 was better than Trump because he was willing talk to the other side, what they mean is that he broke his pledge on no new taxes, that elite and the Democrats just like taxes and Republican Presidents who give in to them.   Gorbachev and Shultz represent great leaders of a bygone Era, this wish blog wishes that President Reagan was still around and in office, that his Chief of Staff was James Baker, his VP was Bush 41 and the Secretary of State was George Shultz, while President Gorbachev was President of a reformed Russia.   It sad but we have to deal with events are they are, not as we wish.

This could be POTUS sabre rattling with the Russians as they have broken the INF Treaty with the development of a new Cruise Missile.   The US has to be firm with Russia, the Russia Bear thinks it can act as it wants because Trump wants a better relationship, well it is times for the US Eagle to show its claws, make the Russian Bear back off.   The INF Treaty was seen as ending the Cold War in may ways, it abolished any entire type of missile, and later saw the development of the START framework for the reduction of the nuclear missiles.   The US has to show that it supports Ukraine in its fight against Russia and will support its NATO allies in the Baltic States.  Time for the Donald to bully Russia back, show that he is not a puppet of Russia and the allegations that Russia has something on him are rubbish.
