If the Russians places nuclear missiles in Cuba they will be breaking the 1962 agreement between Presidents Kennedy and Chairman Khrushchev that ended the Cuban Missile Crisis, any placement of nuclear missiles in Cuba could lead to a new Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Biden Oval cannot sell out the Turks this time as JFK did in 1962 under a secret agreement between the US and Russia.   The question is how far IS Putin willing to go and how far will Biden go to STOP HIM.  It can be postulated that IF Putin takes the East Ukraine but leaves the rest that might be enough to prevent a greater WAR, but if he goes for the WHOLE of the Ukraine, then ALL BETS ARE OFF, the US will supply military resources to the Kiev Government, very much like the US did in the 1980s to the fighters in Afghanistan.  This is hard lesson for history, if you have nuclear weapons don't give them as the Ukraine did in the 1990s.  Also it should be noted that Colonel Gaddafi after 9/11 gave up his nuclear materials to the US and looked what happened to him, overthrown by NATO.  Also this is why North Korea will never give up its nuclear missiles, the Regime is safe, the US or others will never attack a nuclear armed State, that is why Iran wants to become a nuclear armed power.  Thus a very frost few weeks ahead.

As has been noted by others, Trump as a Candidate did not want to the US to leader of the West, and since taking Office, POTUS has tried to get troops out of warzones, thus the growing tensions with IRAN is out of line with his agenda set in 2016.   It has been reported that the Trump Oval has given the Swiss a number to give to the IRAN should it wish to calm tensions in the region.  A War with Iran would be most costly that the Iraq War of between 2003/11 and would take ground troops compared to the War with Libya under Colonel Gaddafi.  Of a War can start by accident, a Iran general has stated that Iran is on a cusp of a war with the US and the heavy sanctions placed on Iran is hurting the regime and people.

One has to ask the question is a quick and ruthless war in the interest of POTUS before the 2020 election, in 2004 Bush 43 was re-elected even after no WMD was found in Iraq.  A WAR President is more likely to get re-elected if the war is ongoing, the US voter will not want to change horses mid stream.  Also there is the chance that the allies of IRAN could hit US troops or interests in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq, thus the recent removal of American diplomats from Iraq.  The next few weeks will be very interesting.

No one with a brain cell wants a WAR, but as appeasement showed in the 1930s sometimes you have to take action before it is to late, if Neville Chamberlain had stood up to Hitler at Munich in 1938 could WAR have been avoided in 1939. What the public will is and what should be done was different in the late 1930s, as we know now, Churchill was right about the threat from Hitler, while the Government and people were WRONG.  After the IRAQ war of 2003-11, and the bombing of Libya to remove Gaddafi the US voter is loathed to take further action in the region, but it is better to take out Iran before it gets the nuclear bomb and becomes like North Korea, than to wait and hope.  Of course before any ACTION happens, the Trump Oval should try a backchannel with the Tehran Regime, to make it clear that this time the US is REAL and if Iran goes down the nuclear road it will face attacks from Israel and even the US.   This is CRISIS is not over, another shoe will drop, just depends when and where.

The US is playing good cop/bad cop, while the Secretary of State talks diplomacy, the Defence Department has sent a US Carrier to the region, a bomber group, and Trump is talking tough on Iran, when it comes to troops overthrowing the Regime.  The recent sabotage of vessels in the Gulf has caused more tension, any actual fighting will start should Iran or its allies target US interests or close down the Strait of Hormuz, this is the pathway for Western oil, any threat to that small space of water would cause the US to react in a firm manner.  

The TOUGH US sanctions on Iran is causing the economy of IRAN to go down the toilet, the regime might in attempt to divert attention through using its terrorist allies, if the US can prove a link between Tehran and any incident then the Trump Oval will react with overwhelming force, the Oval Office is no longer held by Obama, and Trump likes to do 100% different path of Barack Obama.   The Tehran Regime has to be very careful, it should recall the Iraq War and the end of that Regime and the fall of Gaddafi of Libya, the US has the force to remove despots.

IF the above is TRUE, then Iran has very bad Generals, if a conflict should break out between Iran and the US, the winner will be the US, the US armed forces, air, land and sea could take down the Tehran Regime in a WEEK, those that fail to understand have not gotten the lesson of the Iraq War of 2003 and bombing of Libya that lead to the downfall of Colonel Gaddafi.   This would not be President Obama in the WHITE HOUSE, it would be Donald Trump, and he will go as far as needed to WIN, whatever the cost to Iran.   On the other hand this story could be out there because the Tehran Regime wants to send good new to its public.   The US sanctions are hurting, worse that the Iraq - Iran war as reported from Tehran.   If religious theocracy in Tehran had a brain cell it would do a DEAL, no more nukes planning, no more rockets, and no more giving money to terrorist groups, then the US would lift sanctions, the US under Trump would not care how the Regime treated its own people, that is the harsh truth.   Will Tehran smell the coffee!!

This cancellation of the North Korean Summit is not that surprising, the harsh rhetoric out of North Korea has increased over the last few days, the North Korea has been critical of White House Staff and of the Vice - President.   It was a odd news day, the North Koreans blew up their nuclear facility while doing harsh rhetoric with the US.  One could almost say that the talks themselves become a problem, the North Korean Regime does not want to be another Libya, that is Gaddafi thrown from power by his people and killed by the people, so any such reference to Libya does not go down well.  In the view from the US, the Libya model works for them, Gaddafi agreed to remove his nuclear project, his fall from power, came years later.  It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few days.

Did the mention of Libya and Gaddafi really thrown the North Korean over the edge, or are they seeing what concessions they can get out of the US before the Summit.   It would be pointless for Trump to have a meeting with Kim Jong Un if the North Koreans are not going to give up their nukes, it would be seen a failure of the Trump Presidency if North Korea kept their nukes.  This is a developing story, it will be interesting to see how it ends!

THE main legacy of President Obama is that on January 20th his successor will be Donald Trump, the Obama legacy is on the chopping block, one can say ObamaCare is a goner, the Iran nuclear deal will be goner in less it can be proven to work in the real World.   The failure of the Obama legacy when it comes to Foreign Affairs is show with the disaster that is Syria and Iraq, the growth of Daesh in the Middle East and through Europe.   The failed State of Libya is a result of US military action to get rid of Gaddafi, also the death of the US Ambassador to Libya in 2012.   The War on Terror will become a real war under Trump, those Drones will be in constant action, also Special Forces.   Then we come to Afghanistan, the US has been in Afghanistan for over 16 years and the fight looks like it will carry on, so in the end what has President Obama achieved, not a lot to be honest, he is the first African - American to get elected to the Oval Office, that is a noble achievement in itself.

Thus the great one admits a mistake in way, he blames the long term disaster of Libya on the UK and France, how comes it is never his FAULT, he is the President of the United States, the buck stops with him, the next leader will have to make up for the Obama failures, one is shocked that Obama does not blame himself for the rise of Daesh in Syria and Iraq, his failure to keep troops in Iraq after 2011 allowed for the growth of Daesh, the secular revolution in Syria become a religious war between the two main sections of Islam.   The Russians have gained back the Crimea and parts of East Ukraine due to weakness of the Obama Administration.   The Obama Administration saw the Abdication of the US as a World leader, and the fault is with the Oval Office.

The UK has an obligation after it helped with the removal of Gaddafi to solve the political and economic mess that is Libya, in this it should be helped by the French and the US, the EU Countries need to help also, if Libya was one country again it could help stop the refugees coming from Syria and heading to EU Countries such as Germany, thus Berlin should also send troops, neither the UK and Germany are new to Libya, many a tank battle was fought there during World War 2.   If you remove a government from a Country you must do something about it when it falls in to a mess, this blog is still opposed to the idea, as Iraq has shown it never works when you leave. 

UK Troops for Libya - Cameron's Legacy

This would be a major mistake by the Cameron government, the UK soldiers would be a open target to Daesh, the terrorist group which is losing vast tracks of land in Syria and Iraq could see Libya as a safe haven, also Libya opens the route to Italy and the EU.   The UK Government should only use special forces in Libya, that takes its off the political radar and keeps the House of Commons quiet.    The air was being carried out by the US, UK and France is having the desired results in the Middle East, the UK should be cautious about placing its combat troops in harms way, this policy needs more though and more troops from other countries. 

How Obama FAILED to lead the WEST - 2nd Obama Term

In can be postulated that when it comes to foreign policy the Obama Oval has no clue, just because it was right about Iraq does not mean that it understood the complex nature of international affairs, when Obama left Iraq without leaving US troops behind it allowed for the growth of IS in Syria and Iraq.   The failure to bomb Assad after he used chemical weapons on his own people allowed a role for Putin's Russia and created more death in Syria.  In the Ukraine Russia took over the Crimea and has taken over parts of Eastern Ukraine. the low level conflict goes on in the region.  In can be argued that the failures in the Middle East and Eastern Europe place Obama as the successor to Jimmy Carter.  The Iran deal gave Iran what it wanted and gave nothing to the West, Tehran will go nuclear and the blame will be with President Obama.    As for Cuba, the Castro brothers are rewarded while its jails are full of those that oppose the regime.

Thus we can expect a lot of this re-writing of history by the Obama Oval from now in till the election in November.   This is a President who has lead from behind, is more interested in his own rhetoric than reality.   When an American President says there is a red line, and then does nothing, it undercuts the US and the West.   Thus we have the disaster that is Syria and Iraq in the Middle East and Putin pushing to gain more ground in the Ukraine. The allies of the West know that the Oval can not be trusted, the enemies of the US, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Russia know that Obama can be pushed around.  The state of the security in the World has gotten worse since Obama, the US and the World needs a new Reagan.

This is the final hurdle for Hillary Clinton, if she can spin that the committee is political and there is no there there, then she will have a clear run for the nomination and the Presidency.   This blog expects the Democrats on the Committee to muddy the waters, and frame it as the Republicans against HRC.    In less there is damaging information to come out, the Committee will be shown to be political.   Lets be clear, this blog does not like HRC, does not trust her, thinks she is a bad campaigner, and has issues with the truth and being honest, but of the candidates for President she is the best, and she is not Trump or Carson, and one can postulate she will be more of a hawk in the Oval than President Obama.   Thus after tomorrow more visits to Iowa and NH, the the long race to the Oval.  Lets hope Bill behaves himself.

Thus the removal of Colonel Gaddafi has had long term ramifications for Libya and the West, the Country has fallen to terrorists and ethnic groups who like fighting each other; than fighting the growing power of IS; the failure of Libya has allowed thousands of people to try to get to Europe via Libya, there have been many deaths.    The case of Libya will haunt the Hillary Clinton Campaign, she pushed for the US to support the rebels against Gaddafi, then there is the death of the US Ambassador, and the growth IS in Libya.   The latest action by the US could see a more active role for the US in Libya, they broke then they have to fix it, General Powell said that about Iraq, well the same goes for Libya.  There are always ramifications for actions.

The subject of Libya and its fall in to a failed State is about the 2016 US Presidential Election, the disaster that is Libya  today is down to the foreign policy of Hillary Clinton; in the eyes of Republicans; when she was the US Secretary of State, she pushed for action, the results, a failed State, the death of the US Ambassador and the rise of IS.   The Republicans in both the House and Senate will want to place the blame on the front door of HRC.   In the case of Libya HRC did the right thing, she pushed for the overthrow of Gaddafi when he become a threat to Benghazi .   The fallout is based on not planning for afterwards, the same with Iraq.   This blog has been critical of HRC in the past but not over this issue, she tried it did not work, that is a lot more than Obama can say about Iraq and Syria. 

What to do about Libya? - The New War on Terror

The threat IS is all over the Middle East and Africa, the international community through the UN should take on the issue, even create an international force to take out IS in areas not under attack by the West, the US and its allies are taking the War to the IS in Syria and Iraq, the UN should create a new force with the sole aim of the destruction of IS within 5 years. At some point the UN has to earn  its  keep, even Iran hates IS.   The more the West waits the more IS will grow, then Western ground troops will be needed to remove IS, do Western governments want to imagine Western troops as prisoners of War under the control of IS.   Thus TIME FOR ACTION by the West.

If this story is confirmed its a major scandal, you can not have the Pentagon running its own foreign policy because they do not like what their political leaders are doing.   From the article it seems that President Obama left the problem of Libya to Hillary Clinton, the Clinton State Department was pushing for action, while the Defence Department did not want to take military action.   The new Republican Senate should drag in Hillary Clinton and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs to discuss what the Defence Department was up too, this blog supported US action in Libya, that is not the point, you can not have the military cutting the bridge under the US Secretary of State.
