This is a threat from Trump, US Armed Forces are loaded and ready to shoot.  The ceasefire is still on so far, Europe wants appease Iran, no great shock, the UK FCO is in full Appeasement mode, have they learned nothing from the 1930s and the Appeasement of Nazi Germany.  Israel and the US have made it clear that the war in Lebanon was not part of the ceasefire deal.  Thus we wait to see what Iran does now.

UK to confront Russian Planes if they have to - UK Foreign Secretary

Lets Get Real:

This is the type of language that can lead to WW3, it only takes a mistake by our Pilots, the best in the World verses a Russian pilot who jumps the gun to lead to WW3.  Of course our pilots would never fire in less they were under threat, it has not to be stated by the FCO, that  is clear, but one can see the Putin Russian media making hay over these comments, and a Russian Planes trying its luck in the skies.   There should be a no fly zone over the UKRAINE AND POLAND, if they Russian fighter jets incur on NATO space and do not heed warning they should be shot down.

Israel Reckless over Gaza Offensive

The FCO hates Israel and is very pro Arab.  JERUSALEM does not listen to the UN or London, the only power it will listen too is the US and the US President, in this case its Donald Trump, who is loathed to be critical of Israel, the Oval was critical of the Doha attack, Hamas and Israel talks are over, the Israeli Government wants to destroy Hamas were ever it is, one hopes the latest Gaza City offensive is quick with the minimum loss of life.

UK calls for Ceasefire in Gaza - Greater Israel

BBC News Reports 2.25pm post that the UK and other Countries are calling for a Ceasefire in Gaza.

Lets Get Real:

The one country not calling for an immediate ceasefire is the one Country that counts, that is the US under President Trump.  The Trump Oval has shown that it has power over the Jerusalem Government, when Trump had Israel stop bombing Iran, the Bald Eagle has not move its position of supporting Israel.   The UK and the rest of the World has little influence over Israel, the UK FCO hates Israel as does the US State Department, and Israel knows that fact.

Governor Huckabee is a firm supporter of Isrsel and is loyal to Trump.  The Governor ran for the Presidency in 2016, but dropped out and supported Trump.  ISRAEL needs all the friends it has, Gaza and Lebanon WARS are on going, NYT and Guardian readers want the wars to stop, that includes the FCO in London and the State Department in D.C.

This what happens when politicians know they are on the way out, the State Department like the the UK FCO is pro Arab not pro Israel.   The Biden Oval knows the US Congress would over rule the Administration, it could be Biden playing politics, trying to secure the ethnic vote for VP Harris in the Swing States.  This news just broke, the Republicans will hit VP Harris hard over the issue.

It is good that the US and the UK have seen the light on this issue, the Kyiv Government needs the permission of the West NOW, CNN reports that Biden is getting pressure from his own party to grant the Kyiv request,  the Russians are gaining in East Ukraine, while the Ukraine is pushing in to the Kursk region of Russia.  The nuclear threats form Putin show that he is a paper tiger, he will not use tactical  nuclear weapons on his own people in Kursk or in East Ukraine, while he has troops there.  Trump in the debate said that the Biden-Harris Administration could lead to WW3, a Trump Administration would lead to appeasement of Putin, and then the Ukraine would be under threat, and the rest of East Europe, Poland and the Balti States.  This is good news day for the Ukraine, the WEST SHOULD hurry and give formal permission for the Ukraine to hit Russia with long range missiles.

Thus we wait for the Israeli Government to ACT, one can postulate that Israel will hit, if it is going to on the weekend, no sovereign state could tolerate the recent attacks by drones, cruise missiles and ballistic  missiles and not go on the offensive, deterrence only works if the other side is afraid of the reaction.   The Israeli Government has the Iron Dome, it can shoot down drones, cruise and ballistic missiles, it is very much like Reagan's SDI, a shield to protect Israel, and makes any reaction by Iran a near failure.   If Israel hits Iran's nuclear facilitates  it could set Iran months back from having the bomb, and allow Biden not be an appeaser is the Oval Office.   Time will tell.

The Biden Administration has stated there would be further strikes on terrorists after the Iran backed terrorists killed three Americans two weeks ago in Jordan.  The Tehran Regime did not react after the American strikes, will they react NOW, Tehran has been cagey in allowing others to die for their agenda.  Let's hope that the Biden Oval did not warn Iran about this strike, they warned with other strikes. In the Middle East its an eye for an eye, it has been like that for a thousand years, the Israeli Government has just rejected the Hamas Counter offer for a  truce.  The US Secretary of State was hopeful for talks, the US State Department and the FCO in the UK have always been pro Arab, the Secretary of State in the Truman Administration did not want to recognise Israel as a STATE, the US President Harry S Truman over ruled  him.   The Biden Oval cannot trust the State Department and the same for the UK.  The US and the UK cannot force Israel to accept a Palestinian State that would be a THEAT TO ISRAEL.  The State of Israel must be allowed to kill off Hamas in Gaza, then we can have talks.

The PM should not listen to the FCO, they will slow pace the UK to do nothing and in that they will be followed by the US State Department, these Departments are run by Elites who never want to do anything. POTUS and the PM should act in firm manner and use the US Defence Department in the US and the MOD in the UK. 

The UK has already sent troops to Sudan to plan getting UK Citizens OUT, they have been showed up by the rest of Europe, other EU Countries have manged to get their people out, even the Irish have manged it, so why cant the UK, there is a simple answer the FCO should not be used, it was sending messages to the Sudan to UK Citizens but the internet is down there, so how are people meant to get the messages from the UK, how are people to be gotten out, the US might be slow, has the Biden Oval forgotten the lessons of Afghanistan, also Biden wants to announce his re-election bid on Tuesday, he does not need the fact that there are sixteen thousand citizens from the US in the Sudan and they might be needed to be gotten out.  Sudan could be another Afghanistan and another disaster for the US and the UK.

This is Afghanistan all over again, the diplomats are taken out, good work by the Armed Forces as usual,  but the people are left to get shot, it seems that there are sixteen thousand Americans in Country, and there are many UK citizens also, the FCO as usual does nothing, its typical of the FCO viewpoint, do not get involved in the affairs of other Countries, and slow walk the process in till the press lose interest.  If you had left the Falklands to the FCO they would have handed the Islands over to the invading force.  The UK and the US should send in a peace keeping force, with a simple order, if you are fired upon taken them out, does no one recall Gordon of Khartoum ( see the film), a US and UK passport should mean something in these kind of incidents.  One suspects that POTUS and PM Sunak do not have the guts to bring peace to the Sudan, POTUS is expected to announce  on Tuesday that he is running in 2024.

This is not the first time that POTUS has putt his foot in his mouth, the Chinese will not be happy, they might even try more military drills close and around Taiwan.  The US policy is either strategic ambiguity over what the US would do should China take action, or that the US will defend the Island. If your in China you are getting a CLEAR MESSAGE, that as long as Biden is POTUS, any action by them will be meet by a US reaction.  The White House can only walk back so many times a remark by the US President, either POTUS keeps his mouth shut or US policy has changed, and the US will protect Taiwan against any Chinese action. In trying not to be CLEAR, the US Foreign Establishment is causing more problems that could lead China to take action.  Who is in charge of US Foreign Policy, the American President or State Department diplomats, who should not be trusted, they did not want President Reagan to say in his famous Berlin Speech that Mr Gorbachev should tear down the Berlin Wall.  Its the same with the FCO in the UK, they tend to appease, and cannot be trusted to follow the orders of No 10.  On this POTUS is right, the US should defend Taiwan with troops, that is a clear warning to China.

Has President Putin finally LOST the plot, of course today in the modern world there is no need for Ambassadors as such, there is always the mobile ( cell  for Americans ), Text, Email, Facetime etc.  So if Putin did need to speak on a urgent matter with POTUS he can always do the above.  It would be a major symbolic moment, without the US in Russia the World would see that Russia was the top rogue nation, followed by North Korea and Iran.  One can speculate that this is what Putin want, to isolate Russia, but even during the COLD WAR there was always an Ambassador in each others Country, if nothing else it allowed the KGB and CIA to place their own agents in the field and to butter up those that wanted to LEAK information.  The US State Department will not be happy, they are a Island on to themselves, no one with a brain in the UK trusts the FCO, far to0 appeaser and for the other side, as for the EU not BREXIT.

All this Shuttle Diplomacy by the UK and Europe could WORK for Putin, if he plans to invade the whole of the Ukraine he has to wait for the ground to firm up on the Russian and Ukraine border, and also the ending of the WINTER OLYMPICS in China, Putin wants China as a friend and thus will not want to upset them by having the news changed from there to the Ukraine border.  Also he might be thinking that he might get some of the concessions he wants from Europe if he applies enough pressure, or better to cause division in NATO and the EU.  In this case this would be FRANCE and GERMANY.  In the case of France, Macron faces re-election in a few months time and he also wants to be seen as the leader of Europe.  On the German side they get a big part of their gas from Russia, and thus want to see the gas pipeline between Germany and Russia go ahead.  What is in the mind of Putin, your guess is a good a mine.

While the minute by minute Conservative fight is interesting, the real story is that PM May has made her mind up, she is going for a SOFT Brexit, the UK will be a Customs Union and Single Market, even if it is called something else.   It can be expected that PM May will have to make more concessions to the EU.   The main prize is getting out of the EU, once the UK is out and a new Government is formed after the next general election, it can change the structure, one can almost argue that the next election will be ONLY about Brexit.   This is going to go on for the next three months, I need my Prozac.

The above is the PR action of the Boris Johnson campaign for him to become PM.   The Conservative Party does not approve of political knifes in the back, those that do it never become leader.  It is reported on BBC News that 48 MPs have sent letters asking for a No Confidence vote in the PM. While Sky News reports that it might be true, the Chairman of the 1922 is keeping quiet.  The next few hours will be absorbing, will there be other resignations from the Cabinet or from the Government, how much water can the PM take on before it is over, even Lady Thatcher faced that moment.

The PM has been lucky, no Cabinet Minister has resigned over the weekend due to Brexit.  On Monday there is an interesting meeting between the PM and her backbench MPs, will they be supportive or will there be political blood on the floor ? The hard Brexit Ministers in the Cabinet have come out in support, the Foreign Secretary has been very quiet, is he toeing the Cabinet line.   If Brexit MPs demand a confidence vote they will lose, it would be much better to wait in till March 2019 and the UK is out of the EU, then they can change the PM.

The PM should sack the Foreign Secretary, the above is another attempt to undermine the PM.  The Weekend meeting of the Cabinet promises to be bloody, there could be walkouts or sackings.   The PM has to be firm, she has the helm, if the hard Brexit supporters want to bring her down, that is up to them, but they have to understand that such a move could bring Jeremy Corbyn in to power.   It promises to be a hot week, it will be even hotter when the Cabinet meets!! More hot air from the Right Honourable Secretaries of State. 

The EU and Backstop - Update 4 - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

Thus the PM has put out one local fire, now faces a EU fire, the EU is not impressed with the UK Brexit backstop.   The PM has to be firm with the EU and the Republic of Ireland, the UK will not play this game, either accept what we want or we walk out with our money.   The PM has to be strong, she must make the EU think that she will walk, do they want to see Boris Johnson as PM or David Davis.  THE backstop is only a problem if the UK and the EU can not get a deal, thus the term backstop, the UK, well the Cabinet should make its mind up when it comes to Brexit, what form, and can they get it through the House of Commons. 

The Italian Crisis - The EU

Lets Get Real:

The crisis in Italy and the demand from Austria that the EU look again at freedom movement should be used by PM May to get  a better deal from the EU.   The UK should make it clear that we are ready for a no deal exit, that we will take out billions and put in to the NHS, that should shut up the remainers.  The PM has to be firm with the hard remainers and hard Brexit supporters. This blog still thinks that the UK should remain in the customs union and the single market, but that does not mean we should not play hardball, a crisis is a good time to place the pressure on the EU.
