VP Richard Cheney was a giant of US politics, Deputy Chief and later Chief of Staff to President Ford after the Watergate scandal had bought down Richard Nixon, a Congressman who was a Reagan foot solider in the Congress, defended Reagan during the Iran - Contra scandal, Defence Secretary to Bush 41, was a key character in Gulf War 1, and later VP to Bush 43, and bought political weight to the Republican ticket, Cheney and was firm supporter of the Iraq War.  The close relationship between the VP and POTUS took a hit due to peace disaster that was Iraq, also Bush 43 would not pardon Scooter Libby for breaking the law, in fact Trump in one of the first things he did was the Oval was to pardon Libby.  This did not help with the frosty non relationship between Cheney and Trump.  The former VP voted for VP Harris in 2024.

The Russians are backtracking, they are making it clear that Putin runs Russian Foreign policy, not the former President, they must afraid of Trump for some reason, also Trump's Special Envoy for crisis's Steve Witkoff is visiting Russia this week, before the sanctions deadline on the Ukraine, let's see what happens.

The former President is known for his threatening nuclear language, its unusual for the US to react, it must be seen as a real THREAT, or Trump wants a political diversion from home problems.   THIS could be an overnight story that goes away by the morning.

BBC News: Reports that President Trump has stated that he will send the Patriot Defence systems through NATO to the Ukraine.

This will get the attention of Putin's Kremlin, the more that Trump has been critical of Putin, te more revenge attacks there are on Ukraine.  The Trump Administration is full appeasers or America First supporters, so even Trump needs to keep a weary eye on them, they could drop the ball on the Ukraine and create critical problems for Trump.

POTUS is such a mercurial President, he can change his mind in a second, the staff of the Defenece Deprtment might have thought that the pause is what the Oval wanted.  Trump will find someone to blame for the mishaps of his Administration, its the poor people of the Ukraine who suffer and die

This was a show that Iran had tried to answer the US attacks. Thus the reports that Israel wants to end the War in a few days, thus a return to Diplomacy.   THE Tehran Regime should return to Diplomacy and make deal with Israel and the US, give up its nuclear ambitions and facilities, allow the UN's nuclear watchdog access to ALL government buildings.  The US should be wary in case Iran cheats!

As the article notes Trump has gone further that others in the Trump Administstion in suggesting Regime Change, he came up with MIGA, Make Iran Great Again by getting rid of the theocracy, Trump himself has gone against his own rhetoric on the Campain Trail, he opposes Forever Wars, such as Afghanistan and Iraq.  One hopes that Trump know has some respect for Bush 43, Obama if not Biden.  One hopes that the Iranian people hear his call for change.

This would be a massive mistake by the theocracy in Tehran, it would destroy their funding through the selling of oil, and cause damage to the World economy, the Trump Administration would be forced to act as did the Reagan Administration in the late 80s when the US had to convoy tankers through the Gulf.  It is more likely that the Iranian Regime will target one of the US bases in the region, this would be a mistake, this would also force the US to act.  If Tehran was smart it would DO NOTHING, complain yes but nothing, Iran cannot win a war against the US, Iran is not Iraq, there would be no US troops in Iran, as Tehran killed US Soldiers through the region since 1979 revolution.

BBC News Reports in its 7.25pm post that an advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran has stated that there is no room in the Middle East for the US and its bases.

This could be bluster by Iran, they must know that they could never beat the US in the air or the ground for that fact.  There will be no ground War, after Afghanistan and Iraq the US voter are tired of long wars that never end.  Trump took a tough decision that should have been taken years ago by other Presidents.

CNN: Reports that Israel is prepared to ATTACK Iranian nuclear sites.

This is someone trying to place pressure on Israel not to attack Iran, it is saying that the Trump Oval knows what Israel is up too, And wants Israel to back off, it has enough problems with Gaza.  The sources who leaked the information are also telling Iran to make a deal with US before Israel attacks.  Everything is political these days in D.C

CNN reports that Pete Hegseth has been confirmed by the US Senate.  The tied vote was broken by VP Vance, who voted in favour of the nomination.

A win for Trump, let's see how Hegseth does in the role, all that Trump wants is loyalty, no matter what, one hopes it does not cost the US in the future.  

US threatening to cut some military support for Israel- Middle East Crisis - Biden Era

BBC News: Reports in its 2.50pm post that the US has warned Israel it has 30 days to improve food supplies to Gaza or the US will   cut military support.

This what happens when politicians know they are on the way out, the State Department like the the UK FCO is pro Arab not pro Israel.   The Biden Oval knows the US Congress would over rule the Administration, it could be Biden playing politics, trying to secure the ethnic vote for VP Harris in the Swing States.  This news just broke, the Republicans will hit VP Harris hard over the issue.

Thus the Harris/Walz ticket is on a roll, I want to see the VP do some though interviews on Foreign Policy, on the Ukraine and Gaza/Israel.  This blog does not mind if Harris is liberal, this blog has soft spot for LBJ, but President Johnson was tough on foreign policy, you can't be liberal at home and abroad.   The Democratic Convention next!

Sky News reports on a drone strike on Northen Israel, the Drones  came from Hezbollah in Lebanon.

This seems a  carry on of the border strikes between Israel and Hezbollah, not the expected strike from Iran.  It could be a signal from Iran to its allies in the region, to expect action from Iran, Tehran wants to catch Israel and the US napping, they have to be on ALERT over the next few days!

UK looking at giving Fighter Jets to the Ukraine - UK PM - Ukraine - Russian War - Biden Era

Guardian - Live Blog: Reports in its 3.24pm post the following, " UK 'actively looking at' supplying British jets to Ukraine, says No 10....Prime minister Rishi Sunak has asked his defence secretary, Ben Wallace, to investigate what jets the UK could potentially give to Ukraine, Downing Street has said.  "

Lets Get Real:

This is a brave and wise move by the UK Government, this will place pressure on the US to send their F-16 fighter jets to the Ukraine, the French and Germans will also feel the pressure.  The Russias will shout that this is an escalation, the answer to that is easy, get out of the Ukraine and then the Kyiv Government will NOT need the tanks and fighter jets from the West.   The Russian invasion has not gone to plan since the Russian troops went over the border, the estimates of Russian soldiers killed runs in to the thousands, the Russian Government is keeping very quiet about that, it does not want to alarm the people.  One presumes one day that the mothers of Russian troops killed in the Ukraine will PROTEST, a shout that even Putin cannot avoid.  The Russians have lost more troops in the Ukraine that it did in Afghanistan between 1979 - 1989, the Kremlin controls the media in Russia, if you call the Ukraine WAR in Russia you get SENT to the modern day gulag.  The Russians and Putin need  to be defeated, they are a THREAT to Western Security and the stability of the World Order.  The UK as always acts first, and the rest will follow.
