Former VP Cheney Dies - Bush 43 Era

BBC News: Reports in its 3.19pm post on the political career of former VP Richard Cheney.

Lets Get Real:

VP Richard Cheney was a giant of US politics, Deputy Chief and later Chief of Staff to President Ford after the Watergate scandal had bought down Richard Nixon, a Congressman who was a Reagan foot solider in the Congress, defended Reagan during the Iran - Contra scandal, Defence Secretary to Bush 41, was a key character in Gulf War 1, and later VP to Bush 43, and bought political weight to the Republican ticket, Cheney and was firm supporter of the Iraq War.  The close relationship between the VP and POTUS took a hit due to peace disaster that was Iraq, also Bush 43 would not pardon Scooter Libby for breaking the law, in fact Trump in one of the first things he did was the Oval was to pardon Libby.  This did not help with the frosty non relationship between Cheney and Trump.  The former VP voted for VP Harris in 2024.

The Russian Connection Part 3 - Russian Scandal - Trump Era

Let's Get Real:

When do American politicians and staff learn never to lie to the FBI, the clever ones just say they can not recall, the prosecutor can not nail you for perjury if you have a BAD memory, how ever much they do not believe you, this worked for Ronald Reagan during Iran - Contra and HRC with her scandals.   Those that think they are brighter than the FBI land themselves in trouble and cause problems for their political Masters.   One will see how much damaging information Mr Papadopoulos has on the Trump Campaign and Administration.   This will be  LONG fight, it will take years.

Vice President Cheney SPEAKS

The Washington Post: Reviews the forthcoming memoirs of VP Cheney. It will be interesting to read the memoirs of the most powerful VP in American history. It will be interesting to see how his views of international relationship develop from his time as Chief of Staff to President Ford, seen as a moderate Republican when compared to Ronald Reagan by the Establishment of the Republican Party in the 1970s, to the dark hand behind of the Bush 43 Presidency from the prospective of the Liberal elite from 2001. Also what was his relationship like with Bush 43, did he feel as the Bush 43 Presidency went on after the re-election win of 2004 that he had less power, in views on the Libby Case and the well known stand off with Bush 43 over a pardon. Also lets get to the elephant in the room, that is Iraq, that should dominate the memoir, one can see LIBERALS reading every word looking, looking for an apology or that Bush 43 lied and knew he was laying about Iraq. It should be a bestseller folks, the Bush 43 book was New York Times bestseller.

Libby and the Media

Here are some interesting articles on the Libby Case.

Robert Novak: A interesting article in many respects from the reporter whose article started the whole mess. In essence a critic of President Bush for the lack of action over many years.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: This article looks at the reaction of the Liberal Media to the scandals of Bill Clinton and argues that the President got it right in the Libby case.

Chicago Tribune: One could argue this is from a Liberal view point.

NYDN: Recalling the Clinton years. Views states Bush still looks good compared to those years.

L A Times : A Liberal Paper, therefore some how the Libby case has some connection to Iraq.

Washington Post, a very fair article by the Post on the issues. As stated in previous Blog, time for the President to Pardon Mr Libby. Lets be honest he is down in the polls any way, he wont lose his bedrock and the Media will throw a fit but so what, time for the President to act in the matter.

New York Times

Libby Pardon

Here are some interesting articles on the possibility of a Pardon for Mr Libby.

Washington Post - The article looks at the pressure on the President for a Pardon and the problems the President would face if he wanted to Pardon Libby. The President should ask Bush 41 on the problems he had after the Pardons in the Iran - Contra Affair. President Ronald Reagan was smart enough to leave that to Bush 41, since Cheney is not running in 2008, the problem will land on the desk of Bush 43.

Even some on the Jury want to Pardon Libby, interesting story on MSNBC.
