One hopes this was done by the Press Secretary and not the Oval, as a Senator for decades Biden must know that he could lose Manchin to the Republicans and then he loses the US Senate, one does not mend bridges or try to get someone to change their mind if you are calling their word no good and a liar.  The Biden Oval should put out another statement, saying the Press Secretary had gone rogue and this was not the view of Biden Oval.  Otherwise Manchin could be a pain in the arse for Biden and other policies.  One has to say that Manchin has been very true to his word, he has never liked the BBB, and he has had regular meetings with POTUS, at the end of the day he went on FOX NEWS, this is a DIRECT MESSAGE to the Biden Oval, try something else!  One can say LBJ and Reagan would have done a better job, so far Biden does not look great and is nowhere near a good or great President as were LBJ on the domestic front, also Reagan.  Also Reagan could keep his troops in line, Biden one presumes has known Manchin for Years, is he that bad at reading people.  To clear the above he needs a new Press Secretary.

This is CLEAR warning to the House and Senate members that they should not try to force something down the throat of the Senator after he has made it CLEAR as water that he will VOTE against.  The Liberal Leadership is pandering to the very liberal base of the Democratic Party.  As the Virginian results shows, the suburbs will go back to the Republicans if the DEMOCRATS push their luck to much.   The Biden Oval should try to get back to the deal it has with Senator Manchin before, if they push to much the Senator has made it CLEAR that he could vote no to the whole package, how many warnings do the Democrats need.   As has been shown by Virginia, Candidate Biden was not elected to be the new FDR or LBJ, the voters wanted a normal President, in fact a boring President, anyone than Trump, if the Republicans are smart they could look to the new Governor of Virginia as future nominee for the Party.

One assumes that even President Biden would not say the above in less he was 100% he has the votes in the Senate.  Biden's Chief of Staff has stated that the both Biden Bills is up there with the NEW DEAL, WHEN your Chief of Staff has to say that, it means that the books have been cooked because the meal is not that great, some major liberal demands have had to be thrown in the bin because two Democratic Senators have the whip hand and Biden had to go with what they would accept.  Thus it can be expected that the first of the bills, the infrastructure bill will be passed either today or tomorrow and then the Biden social agenda will be passed by the Democratic controlled Senate.  Thus big wins that the Democrats can run on in 2022 in the MID TERMS and also help with Governor elections in Virginia and New Jersey.  One has to tip ones hand to the Democratic leadership, they came politically good at the end.

The President and Speaker could not get the House Liberals to pass the Infrastructure Bill, their power seems limited, the Speaker is a spent force, she has promised numerous days that the House will take up the Infrastructure Bill and she has been blocked by the liberals, when your members are not afraid of you any more and they will not follow you, its time for a Speaker to go, this blog would not be shocked if Speaker Pelosi does not run again in 2022 Mid Terms.   The above might be accurate for next week but not for NOW.  The US President will be seen as weak by other Leaders, he could not get the House Liberals to trust his judgement on the SENATE, one would not be surprised if Biden does not run in 2024.  One hopes the VP has her campaign on ice, ready to move should Biden not run, he will be far to old in 2024.

Thus by the end of the week, the Biden Oval will have two big wins, one on infrastructure and a social agenda, the LIBERALS at the start wanted 6 trillion to spend on the social agenda side, then they cut it to 3.5 and now it looks like it will be between 1 to 2 trillion.  If the legislation is passed before the President goes to Glasgow then it will give the Biden Oval a victory to compare to the New Deal and the Great Society.  The Democrats need something to sell, thus they can sell policies that are popular on their own when polled.  Also it will help the Democrats in the 2022 Mid Terms.  Thus a good week for POTUS.  The Democrats have not worked out how to pay for their Agenda yet, there is the talk that billionaires will be taxed, of course the very clever billionaires will just find a way to not pay or pass the costs over to their customers.   In the end the Middle Class will be shafted, as the tax burden will fall on them,  they do not have any real influence on the HILL, no matter what the Democrats say, so here we have another TAX AND SPEDND LIBERAL PRESIDENT, they never learn these liberals. Reagan in his diaries placed the blame on LBJ and his Great Society for the debt of the US Government at the time.  As always the Gipper was right.

This shows that POTUS is not going to run for a 2nd term, and he thinks he going to lose the Congress to the Republicans, the Biden Oval does not care that House and Senate members could lose their Seats in 2022 Mid Terms or the Presidential Election in 2024, he wont be on the ballot and he will always get great reviews from the LIBERAL press, such as CNN and the liberal New York Times.  Six weeks is a risk, a lot can happen in a WEEK, what if the Senator Manchin wont budge from his 1.5 trillion top line, what if the other Senator has other demands, she is a bit of enigma to the Democratic Party and the press. What if other Senators think they should also be getting attention and decide to act up, no one wants to be seen a stupid sheep following orders.  Biden is taking a BIG RISK, not for himself, he will be out by 2025, but the other Democrats could go down to defeat.

This is make or break for the Biden Agenda on the Hill, his infrastructure bill was passed in the Senate with a united Democrat support and 19 Republicans, the 3.5 trillion welfare bill, the Government looking after you from birth to death has problems, the moderates will not support the 3.5 trillion price tag, how many zeros is that?  The LIBERAL left want to go for all its aims while they have control of the House, they think that the Republicans will take either the House or Senate next year.  If Biden can pass his agenda he will be up there with FDR and LBJ, the problem, its adds trillions to the national debt and tax hikes, the Democrats say tax hikes will cover the cost of the welfare bill, the problem is that there are never enough rich people to tax, it always the middle class that gets shafted.   Thus a fun week if your a political geek or a LIBERAL.

If you can take the Democratic Senator at his word, he wants a lower spending, 1 to 2 trillion, and wants to get some any Republican supporters.   The question is will the extreme left BEND or are they willing to lose the Biden Agenda and risk the House and Senate in 2022.  Of course Manchin might be bluffing and fold when the pressure comes from the White House and the rest of this Democratic Colleagues, the Republicans are united against the 3.5 trillion bill, might one of them fold, that would be a shock.  Interesting few days ahead in D.C.

The LEFT WING of the Democratic Party really want to pass the 3.5 trillion bill, in that bill it contains spending on welfare, climate change and tax hikes on the rich.  IT will be up to moderates such as Senator Manchin to keep to his word and vote on NO on the package.  Any bill worth 3.5 trillion is not good, it does not matter if it s welfare or tax cuts, some day someone else has to pay the piper, and that is normally the middle class and the working class.  The rich always have good lawyers and accountants who get them the best deal, while the rest get shafted.  One hopes the moderates keep a firm bat and say NO, it is expected that all the Republicans will all vote NO, interesting few days ahead.

At last the Democrats have a SANE Senator, spending 3.5 trillion on anything is tends to be BAD.  One has to recall that the Great Depression only came to end with the development of Government spending during World War 2.  Also the Great Society spending was meant to do deal with race relationship problems in the US, what happened, billions spent and the result, NOTHING, more black men are in jail than white men, welfare costs have gone up, black and white one parent families, the poor on welfare. Senator Machine is a moderate, lets hope he stands by his word, spending yes but not 3.5 trillion, the right spending is more important than general spending.  Lets be clear, Biden is NO FDR or LBJ.

Thus we have moderation from Senator Manchin or President Manchin of the US Senate.  The Democrats are acting as if they had a over whelming mandate from the people for this fast spending on the US Credit Card.   They do not, the US voter faced a choice, either electing Trump or Biden, and they took a punt on Biden.  The Biden Oval wants to be up there with FDR or LBJ when it comes to spending, this is lunacy on behalf of the Democrats.  One can only hope that Manchin does not lose hit bottle, he has to be firm with the Democratic leadership in the Senate and the Oval Office, their project has to be scaled back, a lot, and not in the trillions.  One hopes one can trust Senator Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema to stay firm and demand REAL CHANGE or they vote NO.

This is the problem the Democrats will face before the 2022 Mid Terms, if the Senator from West Virginia does not support a Democratic BILL then it will not get through the Senate, the uber liberals AND CNN are screaming for the the filibuster to be removed so they can push their extreme Agenda through.  It has been noticed by the uber liberals that Biden Administration has been very much more LIBERAL than expected.   In fact Senator MANCHIN might be saving the Biden Presidency, the Biden Oval now knows that if it wants to get its AGENDA through it has to please either Manchin or get a Republican to vote for it.    The Biden Oval wants to spend trillions on LIBERAL courses, the fact that MANCHINE might say NO means that President Oval has to talk to  his friends in the Senate, that means Democrats and Republicans.  The LIBERAL wing of the Democratic Party will not be happy.

What is it with Democrats and hiking taxes, yes Biden promised that in his campaign, but then when do politicians ever really follow through, also being OLD, one would have thought that Biden would have learned from the failures of the Great Society under LBJ.  You can spend billions, but if your concept is flawed it does not matter, did the political reforms of the 60s really help African - Americans, last time this blog look the US is divided by race and the difference between the RICH and the poor, this is not new, and spending money does not help, in fact it helps the Republicans in the long term, have Democrats forgotten Reagan and his revolution.   Money is not the point, the point is to have a level playing field, not one that seems hell benefit of benefiting that that can not be helped in less they help themselves.   The Democrats need African - Americans to be poor, they are the only ones that votes for them.

Thus folks you see why VP Biden has a foot in mouth problem, these days in the Democratic Party you have to HATE the Republicans, it's not like LBJ having fierce battle with Republicans in the Morning, and in his view calling him everything under the SUN, then having a drink together in the Evening to get a DEAL on his Agenda.  Those running Democrats running for President know that you have to deal with the other side if you want to get  a bill through the US Senate, in less you have a majority of over 60.   They are playing games, they want to cut away the African - American support for Biden, thus they are using the race card, Biden was right to say Senator Booker should say sorry to him, not the other way around.   Let's recall Ronald Reagan called Biden a smooth demagogue in his diaries, thus the VP should not be to moralistic about what others say about him.  The Democratic race for President is going to be a very LONG AND BITTER race, and it's only June 2019.

It is interesting how history treats US Presidents, how they look either good or bad after a few years. One has to say that Harding comes across as more fun that President Wilson and more forward thinking that most people of the age.   In the mind of this blogger, the best US President was Ronald Reagan, he hat it all, a spirit of hope for the US, he could manage the relationship between the White House and the Congress and he ended the Cold War with the help of President Gorbachev, not bad for a former actor.   The most over rated President is President Kennedy, his early death makes it hard to say what kind of President he could have been, but his action in Cuba and Vietnam hurt the US image.  The failed invasion at the Bay of Pigs lead to the Cuban Missile Crisis.   The one act of greatness by President Kennedy was not bombing the Cuban missile sites after the shoot down of the US plane, also doing the secret deal with USSR over the Turkish missiles.  The most under rated President is President Lyndon Johnson, he pushed for civil rights, and more government spending on the problems faced by the US, the major negative was of course Vietnam.   When you think of LBJ its Vietnam that you most connect with the LBJ period, the error was that LBJ knew the War was a mistake but did not know how to end it, that cost the lives of thousands of Americans.

Two Presidents, one great the other seen as a failure, if you had asked  about them in the early 1960s the reverse argument would have been made, Reagan's film career was coming to a close, while Johnson become President on the death of President Kennedy.     The Johnson record on the domestic front is impressive, the Great Society and his various civil rights reforms.   Then we come to his FALL, that was the Vietnam War and the failure of of the US to win, it can be argued that Vietnam bought down  Johnson and Nixon, the voters do not like losers, Nixon was not helped by Watergate.    Thus in most polls Johnson shares the same low numbers as Nixon.    Then we come to election of Reagan in 1966 and backlash against the liberal reform in various sectors of civic society.   Reagan was a dark horse candidate for President in 1968,  but he lost to Nixon, then he challenged President Ford, and lost by only a few votes.   Then Reagan was saved by the disaster that was the Carter Presidency, which gave us the revolution in Iran and Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.   The 1st Reagan term, saw tax cuts and the increase in defence spending and Reagan calling the USSR an EVIL EMPIRE.     The Reagan found a Soviet Leader he could work with, they almost came close to the removal of ALL nuclear weapons, thus we see the end of the Cold War.   Reagan or Kennedy as still seen as the great US Presidents by the public.   Will have a read of the Darman book when it comes to the UK.

It seems President Reagan was not afraid to tape his calls, one would have thought after Watergate that no tape recording advice was allowed in to the White House, thank goodness Reagan did not talks about Iran - Contra on these tapes.   The Gipper was to clever to get caught out like that, it will be interesting to hear these talks, as they show a President dealing with various Crisis in the Middle East at the moment.   One wonders what Reagan would have made of President Obama, one can assume that Reagan would have been impressed with his PR skills, on the other hand he would have seen Obama as another LBJ, spending money like its going out of fashion and extending the role of Government in to the health of Americans.   One wonders who would have won  a Presidential election if it was Reagan and Obama at their  high points, interesting.
