Akin Mess - 2012 Race

Telegraph: Reports the following on the Akin scandal in Missouri and its effect on the Romney/Ryan Campaign, " ..were threatening to engulf Mitt Romney’s preparations for the Republican party convention.. ".

Lets Get Real:

One has to ask is Rep. Akin a secret Democrat, the uber liberal main stream media will carry this story for days, as long as Akin stays in the race, if and when he quits the Democrats and their allies will link the views of Akin to the Republican Party. One can see the adverts NOW, a true story of a raped woman and her hell of a pregnancy not of her choice and how the Republicans would restrict her choice, it will be very hard for the Republicans to counter an argument like that, thus in pure politics terms Akin has been a God send to Democrats. The Romney Camp has to make clear that they will ask Republicans to vote for the Democrat or not vote in November if Akin is on the ticket. The Republicans need as much distance from Akin as is the Earth from the Mars.

Todd Akin Crisis and Romney/Ryan Campaign

BBC News: Reports that Governor Mitt Romney has called on Rep. Todd Akin to stand down as the Republican nominee for the Senate Seat in Missouri after stating that women that are raped can prevent a pregnancy occurring by natural means.

Lets Get Real:

Rep. Akin is an idiot, what he said was wrong, stupid and offensive, and thus he should stand down. Now lets deal with the politics, the Democrats will use this as part of their theme that Republicans HATE women, the Oval will try to connect the Pro life Agenda of the Republicans to the views of Akin. The Republican Establishment and those in charge of Republicans in Missouri have to get Akin off the ticket. The Republican National Convention starts next week, thus the Republicans have a short time to clean up this mess. On this issue of Abortion this blog take the real liberal conservative line, that abortion should be legal, there should be no restrictions on women when it comes to abortion, and abortions should be allowed in till the last day. It is not for the Government to tell women that they should carry babies and that there is cut off point.

Ohio - Poll of Polls - RCP

RCP: Reports on its average of the Ohio polls before Super Tuesday, as of now, the candidates have the following support, Santorum 34%, Romney 31.3%, Gingrich 15.7% and Paul 12%. Santorum leads Romney by 2.7%. It has been noted that Romney after winning Arizona and Michigan has surged in the Ohio polls, thus a 2.7% lead by Santorum is nothing if Romney has a good ground game in Ohio, if Romney can take Ohio another rust belt State like Michigan this will make Romney the presumptive Republican Nominee, the difference this time between Ohio and Michigan is while Romney was born in Michigan and his father was a State Governor there, that is not the case with Ohio. Thus if Romney takes Ohio it will show that his economic argument is working, that he as a former business man can bring jobs back to these old Industrial States. If on the other hand Santorum wins, this means a long race and a great chance of a Obama victory in November.

Big Romney WINS - Republican Reace

BBC News: Reports on double digit win by Romney in Arizona and his narrow 3% win in Michigan. This blog called the Michigan result early folks, well before CNN and Fox, when Romney was about twenty thousand votes ahead in Michigan and those votes came from the most populated areas of Michigan it could postulated that it was going to be a Romney night. Thus comes Super Tuesday, with 10 States in the frame, lets hope Romney can finish this game, the longer it goes on the more political arrows that the Republicans give to the Democrats. The Republicans should have one aim, to defeat President Obama.

Voting in Arizona and Michigan - Republican Race

BBC News: Reports that Governor Romney has a small lead in Michigan Polls but a larger one in Arizona. Thus folks its down to Romney and Santorum, Senator Santorum really wants to win folks, he has placed automatic calls to Democrats asking them to vote for him as he states that Governor Romney in effect would have allowed the car companies to go out of business. If enough Democrats vote today they could put Santorum over the top and give him the BIG MO in to Super Tuesday. The Romney Camp has to win Michigan, it’s the home State for Romney, his father was once Governor of the State. If Romney cant win Michigan the rational for his Campaign might go out of the window. Expect a late night tonight folks, this blog will be tweeting the results as the happen in Arizona and Michigan. Put on the Coffee folks.

Michigan Polls - RCP

RCP: Reports on its Average of the Michigan Polls before the Primary vote next week, today Governor Romney leads Senator Santorum by 36.8% to 34.8% a 2%. lead. If Romney can keep his home State and take Arizona then he will have a good lead in to Super Tuesday, it seems the last Republican Debate really helped Romney with Republican voters. There should be caution folks, all these polls have a margin of error of between 3% to 4%, thus a tied race in many respects. If Santorum can take Michigan and give Romney a run for his money in Arizona then he will have a good lead in to Super Tuesday, that is why this race is so interesting folks, from day to day, to debate to debate you never really know who is going to win.

Gallup and the Republican Race

Gallup: Reports on its latest poll of the Republican Race, today Senator Santorum leads Governor Romney by 36% to 26%, a 10% lead. This is time for Romney to finish off Santorum, if the Senator can take Michigan the home State of Governor Romney and do well on Super Tuesday the race will be different, Senator Santorum will be the presumptive Republican Nominee and Governor Romney will be the major underdog. This is might be the major shock that Romney needs to show if he has any backbone, does really want the nomination, then he is in a political knife fight for his political future, he really has to find a way to take Santorum down in Michigan and on Super Tuesday, otherwise it can be argued that Santorum could start to look like a Winner, this would be hard PR for Romney, as the poll from Texas shows, Santorum could be the candidate to beat, who saw that coming!

Santorum and Texas - Republican Race

Telegraph: Reports that former US Senator Rick Santorum has a 27% lead in Texas. Folks its down to Michigan, if Santorum can WIN Michigan and Arizona this race could be over for Governor Romney. Thus the Romney Camp has to spend its last dollar in Michigan, it would be a symbolic defeat if Romney was to lose Michigan, he was born there, he worked there and his father was a State Governor, if the people of your home State don’t trust you why should voters in other States. The question that Republican voters have to ask is can Santorum win against President Obama, as of 21 February 2012 the answer is NO. But this is February, lets recall Jimmy Carter and his Campaign wanted to run against Ronald Reagan, thus convention wisdom as this Republican Race has show is not sometimes worth the paper its written on or even BLOG. The Santorum Campaign has to keep the Senator off social issues, we all NOW he is very Conservative, the Campaign has to be about the economy, it’s the economy stupid as the Clinton Campaign used to great effect in 1992. Its going to be a interesting few months folks.

The Republican Race - Gallup

Gallup: Has its latest poll on the Republican Race, today Senator Rick Santorum leads Governor Romney by 35% to 29%, a 6% lead. If your in the Romney Camp you have to worry, what if you lose Romney’s home State to Santorum, and then on Super Tuesday you see both Santorum and Gingrich in the South taking States. The idea that the Republican Convention might meet with no Candidates having a majority NOW looks more likely. If this happens, what about nomination Governor Jeb Bush with Rick Santorum as VP. Just an idea folks.

The Pivotal State = Michigan

RCP: Reports on its average of the polls in Michigan. At this moment Senator Santorum leads Governor Romney by 37% to 28.8%, a lead of 8.2%. The reason that I call Michigan pivotal folks is the fact that Governor Romney was born there, and his father was a Governor of Michigan, thus in many respects this should be a lock for Romney, but if you have a look at all the polls on the RCP web site you will find that Santorum leads in all the Michigan polls. Here is the simple fact folks, Romney has to win this State or it could all be over, if Santorum wins or comes close then Romney could be either heading for a defeat in the race or not getting enough delegates to win the Nomination at the Republican Convention. The Governor has not helped himself in Michigan, he has stated in the past that the US Government should have allowed the car industry to go broke, this has not gone down well with the locals, it’s a major employer, also lets be honest here, Romney has less of a human touch than a DALEK on a bad day, even a Borg has its moments. The social Conservatives and Tea Party supporters are going for Santorum, they don’t trust Romney, thus Romney has a problem, he has to win Michigan, or it just might be all over, tense days ahead for Romney.

Romney vs. Santorum - The Republican Race

The New York Times: Reports that the Romney Campaign is going to go after Rick Santorum after his triple win, also they are going to hit back hard. This is why Governor Romney will win the Republican Nomination folks, after South Carolina he went after Speaker Gingrich and took him apart in Florida, so expect the effective Romney Campaign to go after the Santorum record while Mr Santorum was in the US Senate. The Romney Campaign play to win, thus expect Rick Santorum to get hit hard for his deals while in the US Senate. The Obama Re-Elect play hard folks, its good to know that when Romney faces POTUS the gloves will come off, its Chicago political rules folks, last man standing wins.

Triple WIN for Santorum - The Republican Race

BBC News: Reports on Senator’s Rick Santorum wins in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado. As ex Speaker Gingrich predicted it was a good night for Rick Santorum, he had double digit wins in Missouri and Minnesota and took Colorado from Romney, the question is what is the end game for Senator Santorum, even with the best will in the world this blog does not think Santorum will win the Republican nomination, the Republican voter wants a winner to face President Obama, Mitt Romney has the money and the campaign structure, thus this blog still states he is the presumptive Republican Nominee, thus what of Rick Santorum, one can postulate that the ex US Senator wants the VP spot, it can be argued by the Santorum Campaign in private that with him on the ticket the Conservative Tea Party movement will back the Republican Nominee in November. Thus VP spot on the ticket might not be the choice of Romney, lets see of Santorum can win more States and if Romney has a firewall in later Industrial States. It could be a very long fight folks, and lets not forget Newt Gingrich folks, his argument is that once we get to Southern States he will win further States after South Carolina, time will tell folks. This could be Republican rerun of the Carter/Kennedy fight of 1980, while the presumptive nominee/President has to deal with an insurgent fight his chances for election- re-election are destroyed before the General Election. Or in Republican terms, the Ford vs. Reagan fight of 1976. It should be noted that in 1976 Carter had a very narrow win over Ford. Thus a tough fight does not mean doom. Nothing is that new in US politics folks.

Romney vs. Santorum - The Republican Race

The Hill: Reports that the Romney Campaign is aiming its political arrows at ex US Senator Rick Santorum, the article notes the following, “ Santorum is poised to do well in two out of the three GOP nominating contests on Tuesday. ”. There are three elections today folks, Minnesota, Colorado and Missouri, the first two are caucuses States with delegates, although the article notes the result is not biding on the delegates, while the Missouri Primary is a straw poll, a beauty contest in may respects, also the Speaker is not on the Ballot. As posted yesterday the Speaker Gingrich has predicted that Rick Santorum will have a good night, if the ex Senator can cause an upset this will keep the race open, this might help Speaker Gingrich, if Romney does not win all three he can argue that once the process gets to Southern States he will start to win the big states, such as Texas. Lets recall folks the Obama/Clinton fight went down to the wire, also it can be argued that Senator Santorum might be looking to be Romney’s VP pick, that would make the Conservative base happy, also leave Speaker Gingrich in the cold. Long night folks, make sure you have plenty of coffee!.
