BBC News: Reports on Senator’s Rick Santorum wins in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado. As ex Speaker Gingrich predicted it was a good night for Rick Santorum, he had double digit wins in Missouri and Minnesota and took Colorado from Romney, the question is what is the end game for Senator Santorum, even with the best will in the world this blog does not think Santorum will win the Republican nomination, the Republican voter wants a winner to face President Obama, Mitt Romney has the money and the campaign structure, thus this blog still states he is the presumptive Republican Nominee, thus what of Rick Santorum, one can postulate that the ex US Senator wants the VP spot, it can be argued by the Santorum Campaign in private that with him on the ticket the Conservative Tea Party movement will back the Republican Nominee in November. Thus VP spot on the ticket might not be the choice of Romney, lets see of Santorum can win more States and if Romney has a firewall in later Industrial States. It could be a very long fight folks, and lets not forget Newt Gingrich folks, his argument is that once we get to Southern States he will win further States after South Carolina, time will tell folks. This could be Republican rerun of the Carter/Kennedy fight of 1980, while the presumptive nominee/President has to deal with an insurgent fight his chances for election- re-election are destroyed before the General Election. Or in Republican terms, the Ford vs. Reagan fight of 1976. It should be noted that in 1976 Carter had a very narrow win over Ford. Thus a tough fight does not mean doom. Nothing is that new in US politics folks.
