Is Kasich the dark horse candidates of 2016 - Election 2016

The New York Times: Reports " Donald J. Trump is holding a double-digit lead in Michigan ahead of the state’s primary election on Tuesday, but there are signs that Gov. John Kasich is gaining strength.  "

Lets Get Real:

Governor Kasich is the dark horse candidate of the 2016, in the debates he has come across as the adult in the room, but and there is always a but, he needs to win his home State of Ohio, he has said if he losses Ohio he goes back home to being Governor.   Kasich has a good record, he worked in Congress, helped balanced the budget at the national level and in his State, the 1990s are looked back as the good years, you had a Democratic President in Bill Clinton and a Republican House and Senate, and they could work together minus the Republicans trying to Impeach Bill Clinton over an affair with an intern.   The only way that Kasich become the Republican nominee is through a contested Convention, do the Republicans have the courage to nominate someone like Kasich.   The following few days will be interesting. 

Rubio to LOSE Home State - Election 2016

Guardian - US New Live: Reports the following in its 7.20pm post, " Marco Rubio is set to lose his home state, according to a new poll released this afternoon that shows Donald Trump likely to win 38% of Florida’s Republican primary vote with Rubio nabbing 30%..."

Lets Get Real:

This is the moment that Rubio has to show that he is a WINNER, he has to win his home State of Florida, this sames goes for Governor Kasich of Ohio.   IF neither win and Trump comes to win them the race for the Republican nomination will be over,  On the other hand, should both win it means we will see a contest Republican convention, if one recalls the rules, sorry this bit is in the weeds, the delegates have to vote in the first round for the candidate chose by the voters, if no candidate gets a majority then the delegates are fair game for the other candidates to talk too and to get them to change their support.   THUS MARCH 15TH is IMPORTANT.

Lets Get Real:

This blog does not have a problem with drones and manned aircraft taking out terrorists, but a 150 in one day, were they all terrorists, did they have families present, were there any innocent people killed, did the US have men on the ground to check the aftermath of the attack.   Also on the legal front, did any Court have an overview, did POTUS have the final say.    This my sound like the ravings of a extreme liberal, but anyone that has read this blog understands this blog is happy to see the use of force and the removal of terrorists threats, BUT 150!  Even the Mossad is more careful,   On the whole a good day for the good guys.

Those that were alive in the 1980s recall that at the start there was the fear that the Cold War would go hot, the left thought Ronald Reagan would start World War 3, but the reverse happened, Ronald Reagan helped by his wife with the support of Lady Thatcher broke the ice with the USSR, there were talks, by the end of the Reagan Era the Cold War was a thing of history, it can be argued that 1960, 1980, 2000 were important election years in the US, and the right candidate won in 1980.  As said this is sad day for the US, but also for Eastern Europe, they went from under the hammer of the USSR to freedom, a debt that has its origins with the Reagans, Lady Thatcher and President Gorbachev of the then USSR. 

The Death of Nancy Reagan - End of an Era

BBC News:  Reports " Former First Lady Nancy Reagan has died at home in California at the age of 94. "

Lets Get Real:

THIS is a sad day for the Reagan family and for the US, it can be argued that without Nancy Reagan there would have never been a President Reagan.   The love and support of Nancy Reagan for her husband, allowed President Reagan to change the course of US and World history, the icons of 80s are leaving us, we shall always remember with fondness that Nancy Reagan always looked after husband, he is always thought the best of people, while Nancy saw the negatives.   This allowed for a great marriage and allowed President Reagan to follow through with his plans for the US and allowed Nancy Reagan to follow her own route as with her Just say No to drugs campaign.   A SAD day for us all. 

The New York Times vs. Donald Trump - Election 2016

The New York Times: Reports its view of  Donald Trump, " The Republicans seem to be reeling, unable or unwilling to comprehend that a shady, bombastic liar is hardening the image of their party as a symbol of intolerance and division....a man whose quest for the presidency revolves around targeting religious and racial minorities and people with disabilities, who flirts with white supremacists and the Ku Klux Klan, who ridicules and slanders those who disagree with him. "

Lets Get Real:

This blog on the whole NEVER agrees with the uber liberal NYT, but on this it is right, the question is WHAT is the Republican Party to do, fight Trump in the trenches or move to meet him and make some agreements on how he will behave and how should he get elected his relationship with the US Congress.    The question is can you trust the word of the Donald, he signed a pledge not run a third Party candidate, then when the election got shaky he bough it up again.   THE Republican Establishment needs to chose a candidate and make sure the other candidates get out of the way, in this roadmap someone would have to tell Rubio to get OUT, and support Cruz, the Party does not like Cruz but at least they hope to deal with him.   Sad time to be a Conservative Republican!

The Delegate Count - Election 2016

CNN - Politics: Reports on the Republicans side that Donald Trump has 332 delegates, Cruz 230, Rubio 113, Kasich 27, while on the Democratic side its, Clinton with 1,074 and Senator Sanders with 426. 

Lets Get Real:

It should be noted that HRC has 468 Super Delegates, this means that HRC will win the nomination, she will win other States and with the Super Delegats will get the nominatoin.   On the Republican side Rubio has to win Florida and Kasich Ohio, if they lose then it is OVER in the Republican race.   The Campaigns as noted will shift their agenda for the general election, next the Campaigns have to selct their VP.  It can be argued that Jeb Bush would be a good VP choice for Trump, you need a quiet VP that does not steal trhe limelight from the Chief.  Also it will bring in the Republican Establishment.   On the Democratic side it needs a ethnic candidate, either Hispanic or African American as to keep the base happy.   The first part of the race is over, its just the OTHER States to finish now.
