The Hill: Reports on comments by Senators McCain and Lieberman, the Senators have called on POTUS to accept the protesters as the new government of Libya, to give them weapons to fight Colonel Gaddafi and a No Fly Zone over Libya. The first suggestion as to accepting the protesters as the new government could be problematic, as far as this blog can tell there is no one leader in the revolt, the US cant be seen pushing its favourite candidate, as to weapons it can be argued that there are enough weapons in Libya at the moment, as to a No Fly Zone this should have been done yesterday. Once a leader emerges from the protests then the US can state that that Libya has a new Government and give them weapons if they wish, but so far lets wait and see the outcome.
A look at the Politics of the United States and the UK. The Foreign Policies of both countries and how they behave in the International Community.

Advice to Obama from US Senate = Libya

Joe Lieberman - OUT
Guardian: Reports that the Independent Democrat Senator Joe Lieberman wont run for re-election in 2012 due to the prospects that he would lose that fight. One has a lot of sympathy for Senator Lieberman, he supported the Iraq War and thus President Bush, this made him an outcast in Democratic politics, a might fall for a man that had been the Democratic Nominee for VP with Al Gore in 2000. One can argue that the mistake made by Senator Lieberman was that he supported the Democrats in their control of the US Senate, he never made the move to the Republicans, if he had become a Republican and helped them regain the Senate then he might have won re-election in 2012 with Republican support. If your going to cross the bridge you better go all the way, in the end Senator Lieberman never took that final step and thus his forthcoming statemetn that he wont run in 2012.

Left ATTACK Lieberman
The New York Times: Has a critical Op - Ed piece on Senator Lieberman, the articles the states the following, " Lieberman’s apparently successful attempt to hijack health care reform and hold it hostage until it had been amended into something that liberals couldn’t stomach...". What the article does not state is that the actions of Senator Lieberman might have just saved the USA from going bankrupt, the Senator is only following his duty and the right path. Thus Lieberman supported the Iraq War, the Foreign Policy of Bush 43 and the failed Campaign of McCain/Palin in 08. The Senate owes a debt of thanks to the Senator, he has the backbone to say NO to Liberals out of their minds on spending. Thus this blog says, THANK YOU SENATOR LIEBERMAN.

No Public Option, No Medicare Extension - Health Care Reform
The New York Times: Reports that the new compromise Health Care Reform Bill in the US Senate will not have a public option or the idea for Medicare to cover those over 55. The Bill will force Insurance companies to take people on what ever their medical history, those Insurance companies cant throw people off if the charges are high, all Americans will have to buy cover, thus this will allow more cover for those that don't have cover at the moment. The sour note is that Liberals it seems wont fight for women, the US Government should help with abortion costs, but lets be honest after Bill Clinton the feminist groups showed they are political animals, thus have no interest in the rights of women. On the whole minus the abortion debate support the new Bill.

Health Care Stalled in the US Senate Redux
The New York Times: Reports that the Independent Senator Joe Lieberman has refused to back the compromise new version of health care reform, the NYT writes the following on the remarks of Senator Lieberman, " said on Sunday that he would vote against the health care legislation in its current form. " One has to admire Senator Lieberman, he cares more about the country than the fixed ideology of the Democratic Party, Lieberman supported Bush 43 over Iraq and now showing the Democratic Party that you have to have logic in any reform, the present health care reform bill would allow those under sixty to enter the Medicare, this would bankrupt the system, also Lieberman is opposed to the public option that would give medical cover to a majority of Americans but at the cost of higher taxes, this would place the USA further in to recession. Thank God for Senator Lieberman, lets hope the Democrats take his wise advice, and start again with health care reform.

Good old Joe
Politico: Reports that the Independent Democrat Senator Joe Lieberman has stated that he will join with Republicans to block any health care reform that has a public option. But if Senator Lieberman is going down this road he should go all the way, he should vote with Republicans to block the bill coming to the Senate floor. The rest of the moderate and conservative Democrats have been rolled by the Liberal Leadership of the Senate, if Lieberman votes against the health bill he will be finished with the Democrats, he might as well block it at the start, he will lose his Chairmanship of Homeland Security Committee anyway, he might as well join the Republican Party. This act would show that Lieberman is a great Senator and a great American.

Senator Nelson SURRENDERS to Liberals over Health Reform
ABC News: Reports that Senator Nelson has gone back on his word not to allow a bad health bill to come up for debate. This is typical of moderate and conservative Democrats, they fold under pressure, thus voters if you don't want the Democrats to destroy your health service this is the time to get in contact with your Representative on the Hill. It seems that moderate and conservative Democrats don't have the back bone to stand up to the leadership, lets see what Senator Lieberman does, will he keep his word or will he buckle, does he care about his promise not to allow debate on a bad bill or does he care more about his Chairmanship in the Senate, we shall see folks, even with the polls going South on Obama, the Democratic Leadership are going over a cliff, and to think dear voter you voted for these lunatics.

The Real Battle for Health Care Reform - US Senate
The New York Times Blog: Reports on the next battle for US health care reform, the House bill that passed by two votes is now heading for the US Senate, the NYT writes the following, " Don’t tell the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, but that was supposed to be the easy part. " In the Senate the Majority Leader, Senator Harry Reid has less power to force his agenda through, if Senator Lieberman keeps his word and blocks the bill due to public option and republicans keep together then they can block the bill. The Finance Committee Bill should be the frame work for any compromise bill, that bill did not have the public option. Lets hope the US Senate can bring moderation to this bill, other wise the Democrats will bankrupt the USA, just like Mexico in the 1990s that had to be bailed out by the Clinton Administration. Lets recall that one of the reasons for the decline of the Roman Empire was that they devalued the coin of the realm, are the Democrats pushing the USA in that direction, also the British Empire came to end due to the fact that the UK was broke after World War Two. Thus this health care bill should either be reformed or binned by the US Senate. Time to contact your Senators folks, this could be your only chance to serve the USA.

Not so Fast Harry - Lieberman to Senator Reid on Health Reform
Fox News: Reports that the Independent Democrat, Senator Joe Lieberman has stated that he will support the Republican filibuster of the Obama Health Care Bill, that there is no secret deal between himself and the Liberal Democrats in the Senate. One thing about Senator Lieberman he is an honourable man, in a town full of scoundrels, that includes Democrats and Republicans. If the Democrats want the vote of Senator Lieberman they will have to take out the public option, also if they could manage to cut the cost of the Bill from around a trillion dollars they could also attract some Republicans.

Good Old Joe
ABC News: Reports that the Independent Democrat, Senator Joe Lieberman will support some Republicans in the 2010 Mid Term Elections. You have to salute Senator Lieberman he has always followed what he thought was the right road for the USA, from his support of the Iraq War to his pressure on President Obama to send more troops to Afghanistan. The ironic and fun part is that Democrats cant run the Senate without him, they need his vote, got love the irony, Lieberman is also opposed to a public option in the health care reform bill, thus he can block Obama master plan, again salute to Joe Lieberman, a man that would make a great President.

Blow to Health Care Reform - Lieberman NO to Democrats
Fox News: Reports that Independent Senator Joe Lieberman has stated he can not support the present Health Care Bill. This is a blow to the Democrats, although Lieberman is an Independent he votes with the Democrats, without his vote the Democrats will find hard to stop the Republicans blocking the health care reform bill. As Newsweek pointed out, the Lieberman is vote is more important that most votes due to the fact that he will take moderate and conservative Democrats with him, thus lets see how the Democrats play this loss, lets see if they can get to the centre of American politics or has the extreme left wing of the Democratic Party taken over and is taking the Party over a cliff.

Grasping for Re - Election, Senator Arlen Specter
The New York Times: Reports on the defection of Senator Arlen Spector from Pennsylvania, from the Republican Party to the Democrats. As it should be noted Senator Joe Lieberman moved from the Democrats and ran as an Independent when he could not get the Democratic Nomination in his state due to his support for the Iraq War. Thus on a pure political matter it could be wise tactical move, it gives Obama the House and the Senate.

Lieberman at the RNC
Fox News: Reports on how the speech by Lieberman might be to much for the Democratic Party. At the end of the its is down to Iraq, Lieberman was right and the Dems had it wrong. If the USA had followed the policy of the Democratic Party, Iraq would have been lost and Iran would be even more of a major threat.
Lieberman and the Republicans
The New York Times: Reports that Independent Democrat Senator Lieberman will have a starring role at the Republican Convention, Bush will have a minor role. It is the fun part of politics, Lieberman the VP nominee to Gore in 2000 was defeated by Bush and Cheney, now eight years later he is speaking at the Republican National Convention, it shows that there are great statesmen on both sides of the political divide.

Lieberman for VP ?
Chicago Sun-Times: Robert Novak reports on the idea of Senator Joe Lieberman as VP to McCain. This would be a bold move, two maverick politicians, from the Republican side McCain and from the Democrats Lieberman, it would be bold and would show the Republicans as the real change agents.

Lieberman for VP ?
The New York Times: William Kristol a Conservative writes in the Liberal New York Times that McCain should pick his friend Senator Lieberman as his VP. This would be a bold move, McCain would become the change agent, Lieberman was the VP to Al Gore in 2000. Lieberman has supported the War in Iraq, this has cost him on the political front, this move would be a great move, it could blow the Obama/Biden ticket out to the water. The question is would McCain dare take such a bold move in the 08 race.

Why not Hillary ?
Fox News: Reports that McCain Campaign is going after Senator Obama for not selecting Hillary Clinton as his VP. This could allow Senator McCain to think out side of the box, what about Senator Joe Lieberman as the VP to McCain, this would show that McCain was the change agent not Obama/Biden.

Lieberman for McCain's VP ?
FT: Reports that Democrat Joe Lieberman is on the VP short list for McCain. This would be a bold political move, this would show a national ticket of both Republican and Democrat. This would help McCain with Independents and Conservative Democrats, the Conservative base of the Republican Party would not be happy, but a joint ticket to McCain and Lieberman could just win over Obama.

Lieberman and the GOP
IHT: Reports on the growing distance between Senator Lieberman and the Democrats in the Senate. They will play nice for now, they need his vote to keep control of the body, once they gain more Seats Lieberman will be out in the cold. The Democrats have no sense of loyalty when it comes to their Agenda.

Lieberman for VP?
Salon.com: A article that looks at the prospect that Joe Lieberman could run as the VP to McCain. I have my doubts, interesting, bold, forward thinking, annoy the Democrats. The right in the Republican Party would have a fit, he still votes with the Dems in Congress.
