PM May meets the Irish Prime Minister - Brexit Update 1 - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

It can be argued that both Sky News and BBC News are showing their true colours, they want to REMAIN and get a 2nd Brexit vote.  It is May bashing nearly ALL THE TIME and hardly any mention of the project fear that the Remainers used in 2016 and still lost the vote.  The PM has to keep to her strategy, take it down to the line.   Any talks with the EU always go down to the last minute.  The HARD BREXIT supporters should always recall that the PRIZE is OUT of the EU, so they must not seek 100% of what they want, once we are out of the EU we can get a Brexit PM and change any deals made by PM May.   The HARD REMAINERS will try to block Brexit NEXT WEEK.   The PM should consider sending Houses of Parliament in to recess and use the the Royal Prerogative to get any new rules set in place before the UK leaves the EU as planned on March 29th.   Any extension of Article 50 will be used by Remainers to thwart Brexit. 

2nd Woman Accuses Lt Governor Fairfax of Virginia of Sexual Assault - Trump Era

BBC News: Reports " Meredith Watson alleges Lt Governor Justin Fairfax raped her in 2000 when they were both students at Duke University in North Carolina.  "

This commentary is about the politics of the race and sexual scandals in Virginia, it does not give a  moral view of either three cases.

The Female Candidates running for the 2020 Democratic Presidential Nomination have called on Lt Governor Fairfax to resign.  The irony of this call is that should Fairfax resign the Governor with his own race scandal would appoint a new Deputy.  One can see the Lt Governor thinking, Bill Clinton was accused of sexual assault and he did not resign.   It is now a custom for people caught up in scandal NOT TO RESIGN, they play it out over the long term, rare exception was a recent Democratic Senator who resigned, due to pressure from his Democratic colleagues.   African American voters will ask if there is one rule for Bill Clinton but another for the Lt Governor, that would cause problems with the base of the Democratic Party, as the major players are African American voters and women.   The Trump Oval must be loving this, as long as the Governor, Lt Governor and the Attorney General stay in OFFICE in Virginia the President can point to the fact that the Democrats are in a glass house, not a wise idea to throw bricks about.

Lets Get Real:

In normal circumstances this would help the female candidates who are running for the 2020 Democratic Nomination, but it does not, Warren is a laughing stock after her claim that she was a Native American, while Harris wants to take away the private medical insurance of Americans.   Also Warren wants to tax the rich in till the bleed, while Harris is on a sorry spin for her time as a Special Prosecutor.   The OTHER female candidates as of this time are famous in their own houses, just.   As for Senator Booker he does not have the Obama charisma, he is no JFK, Bill Clinton or as stated Barack Obama.   Thus it is being reported that former VP Biden might enter the race, a recent poll showed a majority of Americans want this, but then Biden also has his problems, he supported tough criminal laws in the 80s and 90s, as with Harris he has said he is sorry.   Also he will have to carry the Obama record, the good and the bad.   This is not the first time Biden might run, he has run before and LOST, also he has a foot in mouth problem.   At present the Democratic candidates for President do NOT IMPRESS, it might be time for a THIRD PARTY for US politics. 

May MEETING with the EU - Brexit Update 2 - Post Brexit

Daily Mail: Reports " Will the EU wipe the smile off Theresa’s face? May to insist UK is not 'trapped' by Irish backstop as she heads to Brussels today... but with leaders set to rebuff her, the vote on her deal 'is put off until the end of the month' "

Lets Get Real:

PM May has to be TOUGH with the EU, she has to get what she wants, a modification of the backstop or she walks away.  The PM should show the EU that she means it by sending the House of Commons in to recess and use the Royal Prerogative to get the UK ready for a HARD BREXIT.   The UK managed to get through WW1, WW2, the Spanish Flu, the Cold War, we can get through a few trucks having to take their time at the PORTS.   The EU should be told that they will not get their 39 billion, they can take us to COURT, at whatever the result they still wont get the money.   The HARD REMAINERS will try to thwart Brexit, the Government must keep control of the process.  The meeting today will be VERY INTERESTING.

Lets Get Real:

This is why the UK voter voted to leave the EU.   The EU at its most basic is saying that Leave voters are going to HELL.  Well if that is the case the UK Government can spend the 39 billion it was going to give to the EU to the NHS and also TAX CUTS.   The EU was never that popular in the UK, the EU might under the impression of Tony Blair that if they wait and play hardball then the UK will change its mind or go for a SOFT BREXIT.   Europeans have never understood the UK, there have been reports that the Germans want a EXIT for all parties, one hopes that Berlin reminds the EU who funds them most, and it's not the French.  The meeting between the PM and the EU should be interesting, the EU have to give something or the UK is heading for a HARD BREXIT. 

Dirty Politics of Virginia, Part 3 - Trump Era

BBC News: Reports " Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring has acknowledged wearing "brown makeup" to a party, days after the state governor admitting wearing blackface.  "

Lets Get Real:

This blog does not normally sorry for Democrats, but with the case of the Virginia Governor, the Lt. Governor and now the Attorney General one has to feel that the voters have been defrauded by the Democratic Establishment.  As stated in this blog Governor Northam's record should have been checked, even more so by the Republicans, with Lt. Governor the Party should have had defence strategy in place in case the information came out, as to the Attorney General who has called for the Governor to quiet he comes across as a hypocrite of the FIRST ORDER.   It should be noted that the first two both deny the allegations, the Governor at first stated that he was in a picture that has some who had blackened up and another person in the outfit of the KKK.   The next day he stated that he was not in the picture, but had done an impression of a singer in a singing contest, he had blackened his face.   As for the Lt. Governor he has denied the allegation of sexual assault, and has hired lawyers to deal with the case.   The political context is simple, there are elections in Virginia, and the Democrats had a good chance of taking both Chambers, one has to ask will the African - American vote still go for the Democrats with these scandals.   Then we come to 2020, if the above stay in OFFICE, what will the Democratic candidates do, skip Virginia, go there but not have the main OFFICE HOLDERS by their side.  If one did not know better one would think that POTUS was paying Democratic pols to screw up the election for the Democrats. 

PM May and the Northern Irish Backstop - Brexit Update 1 - Post Brexit

BBC News: Reports " Theresa May has said she wants changes to the controversial backstop but suggested she is not seeking to remove it from her Brexit deal.  "

Lets Get Real:

There will be some HARD BREXIT supporters will not support this view of the PM, they want the backstop removed from the withdrawal agreement, the main problem is the FACT that at present the backstop does NOT END.  If the PM can get a legal agreement that the backstop does have a full stop at some point or that the UK can revoke it after some time that would help get the withdrawal agreement through the House of Commons.   The PRIZE for Brexit supporters is to leave the political EU, trade and customs union etc can be dealt with later on by a new Brexit PM.  The Hard Brexit supporters must now allow the HARD REMAINERS to win because they need total purity in their cause.  It will be interesting to see what the PM comes back with on Thursday after her meeting with the EU.
