US Presidential Election in 2020 - Trump Era

Lets Get Real:

Thus the endless cycle of the American Presidential election starts now, expect POTUS to target Warren a lot, the view from the Oval is that Warren or Sanders will be the leading candidates for the Democratic nominee, that surly is the sole reason that this news was the main story on NBC News.    The Democratic Party of Bill Clinton has gone VERY LEFT, the voters in the Democratic Primaries are on the left, and they think their candidate was robbed in 2016 by the Democratic elite, thus this time they will want a left wing candidate, that would be a disaster for the Democrats, that kind of candidate will fail badly in the rust belt States.   Also we have the 2018 Mid Terms, the Democrats should take the House and the Senate after the failure of Trump to ge this agenda through this year, if they fail in that then they will have a hard time in 2020.

President Trump and Roy Moore - Senate Seat Race

BBC News: Reports " US President Donald Trump does not plan to campaign for a Republican candidate who is embroiled in allegations of child sex abuse, the White House says. "

Lets Get Real:

At least POTUS is showing some decency by not campaigning for Judge Roy Moore, the Judge has various sexual allegations against him by women who you tend to believe.   The Trump Oval should have forced Moore out when it had the chance, the President has his own sexual allegations, that is not a reason for not doing anything.  One can only hope that the good people of Alabama write in a Republican name do or do not vote.    The politics of the US has become very partisan, that is no reason for there not to be decency in US public life. 

HRC BLAMES Obama for 2016 Defeat - Post 2016

Fox News: Reports " Hillary Clinton said in a new interview that her inability to run on an "agenda of change," coming off of President Barack Obama's two terms, was a significant problem for her 2016 campaign. "

Lets Get Real:

Thus far Hillary Clinton has blamed everyone from the FBI to the Russians for her defeat, it is not fair to blame President Obama, this blog had issues with the Obama Administration but it has to be said that President Obama stated his legacy was on the line in 2016 and supported HRC as best he could.   Let's recall that in modern history only one VP has been the successor to his boss, the President, that was Bush 41 who took over from President Reagan.   In 2000 Al Gore the sitting Vice President lost to Bush 41, in 2008 Senator McCain lost to President Obama, and it can be argued that Bill Clinton and Obama are rather good politicians.   It would be interesting to study what President Reagan did different from his successors that allowed his VP to win, a Ph.d of worthy of study.

This is good news for the Conservative Party after the scandals and forced resignations.  The left wing media pundits are fighting the next election as if it was the last election, the same mistake that old Generals do in Wartime.   Of course the polls could be wrong or the UK voter does not have a tax death wish and does not want Corbyn anywhere near No 10.  The Budget today was good for first time buyers with houses under three hundred thousand, no tax on them, but what about TAX CUTS for the wealthy, that is how you increase money in the economy.   The Government should have taken a swing at taxes, personal and business rates.   The Conservative Government is walking on hot coals, best to make a run for it, low taxes etc, than just go coal by coal.  TAX CUTS ARE THE FUTURE. 

POTUS and Roy Moore - The Trump Era

Lets Get Real:

The Office of the Presidency is more than just a political office, it represents the US to the World.   The fact that POTUS has come out in support of Judge Moore is appalling, LBJ once was told that he could lose the Presidency over supporting civil rights, he replied it was the right thing to do, never mind the political costs, and LBJ WAS  as political as anyone could have been.   The Presidency is a MORAL Office, what POTUS has done will cause damage to the Presidency for years to come, no other President would have done this, today POTUS has lost the respect of those who might have had a slight fondness for the man.   Bad day for Democracy. 

The LEFT and Brexit - Post Brexit Talks

Guardian: The Guardian wrote the following in its Editorial about the latest talks on the UK giving more money to the EU, " For once, though, Mrs May’s ministers have behaved sensibly. The cabinet’s big egos have kept quiet since making the decision (though the former minister Owen Paterson has written an article showing that, on the right, Brexit is a fundamentally neoliberal project with no place for higher NHS spending). This cabinet cannot be relied on over Europe, but they have made the least bad decision in the circumstances. They have done what is needed to keep Britain’s options open. And that, at least, is better than closing them off. "

Lets Get Real:

In other words the Conservative Government has rolled over and accepted that it has to pay more to the EU, when even after the House of Lords stated that the UK did not owe the EU a farthing.   If the left Guardian is supporting the Government over this issue that means it is wrong, the Conservative Government should have walked away from the EU deal.   The UK PM wants to keep the remainers happy, what about the UK voters, they are sick and tired of hearing about the EU and that is just the remainers, time for the Conservative backbenchers to oppose the latest policy, we are appeasing Europe. 

The UK should walk away and do deals with the US and the rest of the World, the Trump Administration has made it clear we could get  a fast deal with them and join NAFTA, of course that depends on NAFTA still being around, the US under Trump has problems with the deal, thus a good time for the UK to make a bold move and do a deal with the US under Trump.

The Northern Ireland Problem and Brexit - Post Brexit

BBC News: Reports " Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar "should know better" than to "play around" with Northern Ireland over Brexit, the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party says.  "

The DUP should have a VETO over UK talks over Brexit when it comes to Northern Ireland, the North wants to remain part of the UK not the EU, thus as the DUP supports the Conservatives in the House of Commons their view should be the deciding factor not the view of Republic of Ireland.   It is reported that the Conservative Government has agreed to offer forty billion pounds to the EU for trade access, the move should only be considered if the UK gets  a good deal and does not cause problems with Northern Ireland.   In the view of this blogger the UK should have walked away months ago.
