The War in Afghanistan has been going on since 9/11, thus through the Presidencies of Bush 43 and President Obama. The War in Afghanistan is endless, there will never be a clear win, it is good that the UK got out in 2014. The Americans have the men/technology and the money to pay for the War, they can keep IS,Al Qaeda or the Taliban from winning. The geography of Afghanistan leads itself to endless War, very much like Vietnam. The Western Alliance of NATO can bring hope to the people of Afghanistan, but at the end of the day its up to the people of Afghanistan to win this war on their own terms.
