BBC News - Live Blog: Reports in its 1.25pm post the following, " Truss statement is a good start, says DUP leader....DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson says the party had always been against the protocol, and recognised the political and economic instability it could cause, as well as the threat it could pose to the union. "
Lets Get Real:
The UK Government is creating a back up of insurance should the EU play silly buggers and make demands that are a threat to the Good Friday Agreement, one hopes that Brussels understands that this agreement is the most important agreement not the Northern Ireland Protocol. The changes by the Government would create a green channel that would allow UK products to transfer from the UK MAINLAND to Belfast but also create a EU Channel for products that are going from the UK to the Republic and meet EU standards. One hopes that the DUP will at least allow the election of a Speaker for the Northern Ireland Assembly, to start getting the wheels rolling for the return of the Executive. In this the UK Government should place pressure on the DUP, the Government is doing what they want, so they should give a little. Its politics 101.
