Lets Get Real:
The uber liberal New York Times is not being subtle, it never is, they see the the Supreme Court seat as stolen from their choice, thus they are pushing for the Democrats to be tough, but not that tough, the Republicans can change the rules of the Senate as to allow for a straight majority to vote for the Supreme Court nominee, not the 60 required at the moment. It can be argued that the Democrats should wait for the next nominee, that would give the Republicans a absolute majority on the US Supreme Court. The problem faced by Senate Democrats is the base, they have gone nuts since Trump has become President, they want ALL OUT WAR, that might be nice for the ultra liberals but the 2018 Mid Terms will come up soon, the Party can not be seen to object to every candidate for every post, then they would lose, thus the Democrats have to be smart. Politics never ends in the US.
