The question that has to be asked is how Putin thought he could get away with hacking during the US election, the answer is simple, Moscow does not fear Obama, he has shown himself to be weak when faced by a strong opponent. A charge that Russia was helping an opponent at the height of the Cold War would lead to that campaign going down to a major loss, these days that is still true if President Obama had been a strong leader, but when he failed to follow his own read lines in Syria it was shown that he was weak and would not stand up to the enemies of the US. The major failure for US foreign policy and national security is President Obama.
