The Inaugural Address was a sharp departure from the Obama years and previous Presidents, the President stated the following on America's role in the past, " For many decades, we’ve enriched foreign industry at the expense of American industry;

Subsidized the armies of other countries while allowing for the very sad depletion of our military;

We've defended other nation’s borders while refusing to defend our own;

And spent trillions of dollars overseas while America's infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and decay.

We’ve made other countries rich while the wealth, strength, and confidence of our country has disappeared over the horizon.

One by one, the factories shuttered and left our shores, with not even a thought about the millions upon millions of American workers left behind.

The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from their homes and then redistributed across the entire world.

But that is the past. And now we are looking only to the future.

We assembled here today are issuing a new decree to be heard in every city, in every foreign capital, and in every hall of power. "  

The message gives the impression that Europe and the Baltic States will have to defend themselves, this will go down badly in Eastern Europe AND the Baltic States.   Putin's Russia will try to see how far they can push their power and interests, this is a return to America's isolation role during the 1920s and 1930s.   That of course lead to WW2.

In the last hours of the Obama Administration the political hacks of the Administration are throwing out their last arrows at the new President and his team.   The process of nomination and confirmation takes time in the US Congress, the Bill Clinton Administration had to go through a few Attorney General nominees before they had a confirmation.   In the Bush 41 Administration they had a problems getting a nominee through before they picked Dick Cheney as Defence Secretary.   It is a political game in D.C the opposition Party tries to knock off a nominee, just to show they have power and political payback.  Both Parties have political hacks, it's the nature of the political game.

It was fun watching BBC News has it covered the arrival of the President - Elect in Washington D.C, it was so biased it was nuts, one interview was about the psychology of the President, and then a writer said he was afraid of the results of a Trump Presidency.  BBC News really has to grow up, is the level of coverage we are going to get, if so this blog suggests that News Junkies turn on to Fox News, at least they are objective in their coverage, a Conservative edge but objective.     The liberal mainstream press has to get over itself, this coverage recalls the early Reagan years, in around 1980 the left wing Guardian had a cartoon of Reagan in cowboy costume and the ruins of the Capital Hill, yes dear voter, they were nuts at the time.   Let us hope we get better coverage tomorrow.

Gitmo should NEVER be closed, it should be kept open to take new terrorists, they are a constant threat to the US.   The new Trump Administration should carry on with the drone strikes, in fact increase them, get the lawyers out of the room and kill the terrorists.  If the terrorists can be captured they should be taken to Gitmo, waterboarding should be used to get information.   The lax Obama Administration was more interested in what the liberal NYT and the Guardian think, the main concern should be the security of the US and Europe, thus Daesh and Al Qaeda need to be destroyed, lives need to be saved, terrorists do not have rights.

The Manning pardon by President Obama was a national disgrace, the liberal President could not help himself, he was throwing a bone to the LEFT, the US national security did not enter his mind.  There is no way of removing the pardon, but the new Trump Administration should make it clear that those release US national security secrets are traitors, and that the previous action by President Obama was a disgrace and will not happen under a Trump Administration.   One can only say that JFK and Reagan are turning in their graves, this would not have happened under their Administrations.

BBC News: Reports the high poll ratings of President Obama, " Separate polls conducted by The Washington Post/ABC and CNN/ORC both found Mr Obama with 60% approval. "

Lets Get Real:

This is a good poll rating to have at the end of two terms, it should be noted that Bill Clinton had 66% approval rating by Gallup in 2001, while Reagan had 63% in 1989, thus far the Gallup poll has not been published for Obama.   Of course Reagan had seen his VP, Bush 41 elected his successor, while Clinton saw his VP, Al Gore defeated by Bush 43, and Obama has seen the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton go down to Donald Trump.   The press really HATE the Trump, they are hardly objective when it comes to President Trump, let's hope the new President is very lucky and can produce results, if US is great again then the World is better off, if Trump is a disaster the World suffers, both in the economic and security field.
