The Economy is in the Toilet - The UK Chancellor of the Exchequer

The Sunday Times: Reports that the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling has admitted that the economy is in a worse state than the Government thought and there will be cuts. Some TRUTH from Labour at last, at least Mr Darling seems to know the difference between spin and truth, more that our PM. Mr Brown cant bring himself to tell the truth, there will be cuts in spending, there has to be cuts as we have raided the the old piggy bank just to much under Labour. The Governor of the Bank of England has stated that the Government cant spend any more, its about deep hard cuts in domestic spending folks, even the NHS will have to cut its spending. This is the time for the Labour Party to be reformist, it should state that people can not retire in till their 70, those born after 2010 will have to fund their own retirement later on in life. Those that earn a high salary will have to pay to use the NHS. Expensive drugs beyond government spending will have to be bought by the user, thus the need to develop an insurance for those that want expensive drugs down the line. DNA testing will tell the customer if he or she might develop an illness that needs expensive drugs to cure. Its hard a world, the truth is better than spin.

Deaths in Afghanistan

MOD: Reports on the death of two more British Soldiers in combat operations in Afghanistan. The total of those killed in combat has now reached 144. Those that have died of accidents, illness and other incidents is now 29. In all 173 UK Armed Forces Personnel have died in Afghanistan. There will be more combat deaths, the Presidential Election in August in Afghanistan is to tempting a target for the Taliban/Terrorists. The surges by the USA and UK is an interesting move, the question is will the Taliban/Terrorists stand and fight. How long before the American Left start to see Afghanistan as another Iraq and start to place pressure on Obama to set an Exit route out of Afghanistan. The War in Afghanistan will take years, one thing about insurgents in Afghanistan, they have learnt to wait out the enemy, that goes for the UK in the 19th Century to the USSR in the 20th Century. Lets see if President Obama is tough enough to stand up to his base, if not he could face the fate of Jimmy Carter, Carter was seen as a weak President in Foreign Policy thus the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980, could Obama be defeated by Governor Palin of Alaska in 2012.

Iran Revolt and NYT Update

As before here a few tweets from Iran Revolt, have not named, ID the tweets as to protect twitter users.

1) National Strike in Iran on the 15 - 17 July. ( Lets see if that works )

It seems that the Totalitarian regime in Tehran has been very effective is closing down info from Iran. Even the New York Times Update on Iran is quite sparse. The most interesting is the PR from Tehran that the protesters had the backing from outside Iran.

North Korean Missiles - More Short Range Missiles Tested

Fox News: Reports that the Stalinist North Korea has fired more missiles in to the Sea of Japan. One has to ask what does North Korea get out of this constant noise, and it is noise, it has forced the Obama Administration to take a tough stand, it seems the White House will no longer be blackmailed by North Korea. Thus the recent UN Resolution that allows UN States to inspect ships coming out of North Korea by permission of the ship or the next time they enter Port for the locals to have a look at the request of the UN. Thus constant noise by North Korea with a leader who is bonkers.

The Marines are Coming Folks - Afghanistan

BBC News: Reports on a major offensive by the US Marines in Helmand Province, the base of UK operations in Afghanistan. The War in Afghanistan is now Obama's War. Lets hope it does not become like Vietnam, and Obama is like LBJ, a great domestic reformer destroyed by a War he did not understand, does Obama understand Afghanistan and does he think he is better than Alexander the Great. Lets wait and see folks.

US Soldier KIDNAPPED by the Taliban

CBS News: Reports that a US Soldier has been kidnapped by the Taliban/Terrorists. This will be a propaganda coup for the Taliban/Terrorists. They will be able to use the modern media to send out a message that the Obama Surge is in trouble before it starts, they will make demands that cant be meet. The message of course will be false and will be seen as such by more savvy Western eyes but it works well on the Arab Street. Also if they can keep hold of the soldier they can place pressure on the Obama Administration. One can see the soldier being dressed in a costume that will have resemblance to Gitmo. They terrorists could also place the soldier in conditions that represent some of the mistreatment of that was reported out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Lets hope Delta Force and the SAS can get to the soldier before this becomes a victory for the Taliban/Terrorists.

Deaths in Afghanistan

MOD: Reports on the death of two British Soldiers in Afghanistan on Wednesday. Of the 171 UK Armed Forces Personnel killed in Afghanistan, 142 have died in combat, while the other 29 have died due to accidents, illness or other incidents. These deaths will not be the last, lets hope the Obama surge of troops takes the pressure of UK forces, it can be expected that the Taliban/Terrorists will increase attacks in the lead up to Presidential Election in Afghanistan. As of today I still have not seen a plan to get UK forces out of Afghanistan, all I see is a holding strategy, and the hope the USA can clean up the mess.
