The Tehran Regime a Shia Country wants to make sure that the Shia Government in Iraq does not fall, the US wants a united Iraq with a democratic government. All sides are agreed that ISIS is major threat, so various countries can work together, but its due to one issue, if Israel sees that the Oval will not bomb Iran over its nuclear plans it might go it alone. Thus tough call for the US on the level of talks with Iran.
