One can postulate, and this is just a guess that the Crimea crisis is at an end, Putin has got the Ukraine with a slap of the hand from the EU and the US, if Putin is clever he will take this win and use covert means to cause problems in the East of Ukraine. Putin must know that he does not want to get to close to NATO, if a War breakout between the Ukraine and Russia it would drag in the US, Obama would be forced to re- supply the Kiev Government with arms, one does not want the Super Powers that close and in a hot war. Thus what next, NOTHING is a option, an ice cold relationship between Putin's Russia and the West, the Ukraine become a member of the EU and NATO in time, faster than expected because the West does not want Russia to see that it has a free hand in the Ukraine, so in the long term it can be argued that the takeover of the Crimea was a strategic mistake by Putin, he just might have lost the Ukraine to the West for the future.
