California Dreaming - Poll

Well tomorrow is the day, Super Duper Tuesday, heaven for us political geeks but a long night for the campaigns. Lets look at Super Duper California, Romney and Obama have over taken the previous leaders, McCain and Clinton. It should be noted that Obama could win the state but due to the Democratic system of the Democrats, Clinton could nab a lot more delegates due to the fact that each Congressional District gets a few delegates. It’s all down to maths and percentages have even seen some of the networks have difficult with the system. Simple by the end of Tuesday, it could be that we are back at the start, McCain v Romney and Clinton v Obama each with the same about of delegates. It really depends on California. Thus lets have a look at the latest Zogby Tracking Poll.


On the Republican side we have the following results:

Romney 40 %

McCain 32 %

The thought that Senator John McCain could win the nomination has pushed the Conservatives in to one final effort to stop him in California. Is it to late, still to close to call.


On the Democratic side we have the following results:

Obama 46 %

Clinton 40 %


If Obama can win big in California and take the delegates in the Congressional Districts then Clinton might be in trouble.


It would be ironic if at the end of this, it were a Romney v Obama race.

O Money O Money !!

New York Times: Reports on the Money trail of both the Republicans and Democrats. The use of selected political commercials that feeds in to the views of the voters in different parts of the country. The article states the following on the Democratic Race for President, “ (Obama and Clinton ) have unleashed advertisements in nearly all the 22 states that have Democratic presidential nominating contests on Tuesday, a combined $19 million expenditure that is the most ambitious and geographically expansive television effort in a presidential primary. ” Of late Obama has raised over thirty million this will help him with the TV add buys. Clinton has bought an hour on the Hallmark channel, that is an expensive buy. This does recall Nixon adds of 1968, in 1968 Nixon did not debate, he recalled 1960, why take the chance! He had his Man in the arena; he took questions from voters while standing in an arena. Have my doubts that Senator Hillary Clinton will get any hard questions, soft questions like the one that made her cry in New Hampshire. That might be the point; Hallmark has a certain demographic, women voters thus the backbone for the Clinton Machine. Must Read of the Day.

No Winner ?

Fox News: Looks at the prospect that neither Republican or Democratic contests will have a clear winner, the Republican race looks more likely to have a winner due to the structure of some states, winner takes all the delegates. Super Tuesday should be a long night for bloggers and political geeks.

Washington Post Poll

Washington Post: A new National Poll from the Post, Clinton and McCain lead their respected races, the Democratic race is a lot closer, Clinton 47 %, Obama 43 %, on the Republican side the margin is more, McCain 48%, Romney 24 %. If this result follows through on Tuesday, McCain should have an easy win, while on the Democratic side the race will go on to other primary and caucus states.

Romney v Huckabee

Fox News: Reports on the fight between Romney and Huckabee, the Romney camp is worried that Huckabee is taking Conservative votes from Romney and thus will allow McCain to win the nomination. Huckabee has the right to stay in and he should fight in the South, Huckabee is the real deal compared to the phoney that is Mitt Romney.

Washington Post v Bill Clinton

Washington Post: As we come close to Super Tuesday, and should Hillary Clinton win, then the record of the 42nd President will be looked at by the Republicans, the Post states the following on the Clinton record, “ the scandals and partisan battles that consumed so much of the 1990s. ” will come under even more scrutiny that the Democratic voters have given the Clintons. If it is Hillary Clinton expect every scandal or statement under oath to be raked all over again, Liberals will not be able to hide, do they want to have to defend Bill Clinton again and the stained dress. Thus is the time for change and for Obama.

Calfornia Polls - Democrats

Well since over twenty states are either having a primary or a caucus on Super Tuesday, have decided to check out few of the interesting polls for those states. Lets start with California. The respected Pollster Rasmussen has Clinton 43 %, Obama 40 %, this was before Edwards was out of the race, depends on how his supporters vote on Tuesday. The other respected Pollster, Zogby has a poll with Edwards out of the race, here the results are changed, Obama 45 %, Clinton 41 %.. The RCP average of Polls has Clinton ahead by 2.5%. The race is to close to call in the State.
