MOD: Reports that a British Soldier was killed on Sunday in Afghanistan, the Soldier was from the " 101 Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal)...attached to the Joint Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group, part of the Counter Improvised Explosive Device Task Force ". Thus since 2001 the UK has lost 309 of its Armed Forces Personnel in Afghanistan, of that total it has lost 271 in combat operations and 38 due to illness, accidents or other incidents.

MOD: Reports that four British Soldiers died on Wednesday in Afghanistan due to a traffic accident, three of the Soldiers came from the “ 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment ” and one soldier from the “ 1st Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (attached to 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment) ”. Thus since 2001 the UK has lost 307 of its Armed Forces Personnel in Afghanistan, of that total it has lost 269 in combat operations and 38 due to illness, accidents or other incidents.

Thus since 2001 the UK has lost 298 of its Armed Forces Personnel in Afghanistan, of that total it has lost 264 in combat operations and 34 due to illness, accidents and other incidents. Thus so far in June of 2010 the UK has lost 9 Soldiers, in 2009 it lost four soldiers, in 2008 the UK lost 13 soldiers, in 2007 the UK lost 4 soldiers, in 2006 it was 3.

MOD: Reports that a second British Soldier was killed on Wednesday in Afghanistan, the Soldier was a " Royal Marine from 40 Commando Royal Marines, serving as part of Combined Force Sangin ". Thus since 2001 the UK has lost 288 of its Armed Forces Personnel in Afghanistan, of that total it has lost 254 in combat operations and 34 due to illness, accidents or other incidents. It seems that May is following the trends of the past few months with an increase each month in the death toll in Afghanistan, the UK should expect the next few months to see an increase in the death toll, then a decrease in the Winter period in Afghanistan.

MOD: Reports that another British Soldier has been killed in Afghanistan, the soldier was from the " 4th Regiment Royal Artillery, serving as part of Combined Force Nahr-e Saraj (South) ". Thus since 2001 the UK has lost 287 of its Armed Forces Personnel (AFP) in Afghanistan, of that total it has lost 253 in combat operations and 34 due to illness, accidents or other incidents. In May of 2009 the UK lost 12 of its AFP, in 2008 it was 3, in 2007 it was 5. Thus far this month the UK has lost five its AFP, these months are the battle times in Afghanistan, the UK should expect more losses over the months.
