Coalition Government WINS VAT vote in the House of Commons

BBC News: Reports that Coalition Government has won the vote in the House of Commons to increase VAT from 17.5 to 20%. Thus far so good in Coalition terms, the tough time really comes when the Treasury starts to cut Departmental Budgets from 25% to in some extreme cases 40%. The question has to be asked do the Liberal Democrats have the political backbone to be hated, if you’re a Conservative its part of the deal of being a Torie. The Budget cuts will make the Thatcher years look like old Labour was in power, but once the Government deficit is removed then the Conservatives can start to cut taxes, make government limited, reverse the Big Government view of New Labour. Then in 2015 the Conservative Party can send Labour in to political oblivion by winning a second term with an increase majority.
