Since 9/11 the US has had a presence in Afghanistan, the original purpose was to fight Al Qaeda and the Taliban, now its fighting Daesh and the Taliban. The lesson that the British learned during the British Empire was get a leader that can lead Afghanistan and have friendly terms with him, there is no winning in Afghanistan, there is just death and the loss of money. The Trump Oval needs to carry on supporting the Kabul Government, in that it has no choice but also be more in support, not allowing for a mass presence, Afghanistan is a death zone for Empires, just ask the British Empire, the USSR, even the US.
