This kind of threat is only real if other Countries think that the Oval will ACT, the lack of action in Syria has undermined US National Security, it can be argued that Syria, North Korea, and Iran do not think that that President Obama has the backbone to follow through with any threats, its easy to press a button and kill people with a drone, its a lot harder placing thousands of troops in harms way. As stated in this blog the Oval is no fool, POTUS has seen how Vietnam and Iraq damaged the Presidencies of LBJ and Bush 43, Obama knows that his liberal base would dump him in a second should he thousands of troops in Syria. The problem that Obama has is that the final decision might not be his when it comes to Syria and Iran, if Assad thinks that Obama is weak he could increase the use of chemical weapons, call the bluff of the Oval. With Iran, Israel thinks that Obama will never attack Iran they might attack first, think 1981 and 2007 folks, the Israeli Government might leave the US with no choice as J.R Ewing said, if a person does the right thing, they do it because it is the only option.
