No Deal on 2011 Budget

The Hill’s Blog: Reports that a White House meeting between President Obama and Speaker Boehner did not lead to a deal for the 2011 Budget. Thus a US Government shutdown is still on the cards. As POTUS has started his 2012 re-election campaign on Monday all his actions have to be seen in that context, President Obama can not afford to annoy his Liberal base with deep budget cuts, while on the Republican side the Republicans took the House on the promise to curb the Obama spending, thus the Republicans should go for broke, allow the Government to be shut down, while funding defence through the year. The Democrats should be very wary of this move, what if the world does not fall apart, what if the US gets along fine without an active government. The tea party supported Republicans will find deep support from the tea party members, they tea party in many respects comes from the fact that many voters do not approve of the spending of the Obama White House. Time for Republicans to hold their ground, they might lose, but they might win, that’s Democracy folks.
