BBC News: Reports on Ed Miliband’s first TV interview as Labour Leader, Mr Miliband stated that the Labour Party under his leadership would not go to the left. Two pieces of advice for Miliband Junior, don’t have David Miliband in the Shadow Cabinet, if Ed makes David Chancellor then the Blair/Brown years will look like happy hour in the pub. Politics is a brutal business, you cant have two Milibands in charge of the Party, this is not a banana Republic ( no pun on David Miliband's his fondness for bananas ), in politics your either in or your out, and its easier to get rid Labour Leaders in Opposition than when in Government, in Opposition it only needs 12% of MPs to set off an election. If the public opinion polls in a few years don’t show a Labour lead the MPs will throw Miliband Junior out and seek his replacement, does Ed trust David not to stab him in the back after what he has done! Thus Miliband Junior should find a job anywhere else for David Miliband. The second piece of advice is also about personnel, what ever Ed Miliband does he should not place Ed Balls as Chancellor of the Exchequer, Balls would be after his job fast. The new leader should make a striking gesture and appoint Andy Burnham as Chancellor, show that the past is the past. Also lets be honest if Mr Miliband does fall during the first hurdle, then Labour could do worse than elect Mr Burnham, he has the makings of a new Tony Blair, some more years training in the arts and he just might be the next Labour Leader.
