The New York Times: Reports that the opposition to the Assad Regime is even more splintered than in Libya. Thus folks even if the UN in the shape of the US, UK and France wanted to take action, you have various groups corralled by their opposition to the Assad Regime, who don’t have direct control of those doing the fighting and getting killed for a free Syria. Lets be honest here folks, President Obama does not want another War, the left in the US were not happy about the US taking out Gaddafi, one can only guess at their reaction should the US take military action in Syria, this could be a first step to a War with Iran. If the Syria mess goes cross border, Israel on one side, then Turkey, it could drag in the US even if it does not want to, a conflict between Israel and Syria would help the Assad Regime, thus the US and the UN have to be very careful, the balloon for the whole region could go up.
A look at the Politics of the United States and the UK. The Foreign Policies of both countries and how they behave in the International Community.
