Welfare Reform - Conservative Agenda

BBC News: Reports on the Conservative plan to cut the costs of the welfare state, the BBC reports on a new Conservative Poster, "Let's cut benefits for those who refuse to work." David Cameron hit the right Conservative notes when it comes to welfare, Mr Cameron stated the followoing, if you refuse the first offer of a job you lose your benefits for a month, the second time for three months and then three years. This is a tough message but the right message, Mr Cameron stated the following " Conservatives will today pledge to introduce a new welfare contract by the end of 2010 – a single comprehensive Work Programme offering unprecedented support for those looking for work, combined with new sanctions for anyone who refuses to work. The new welfare contract will draw on the principles of the Big Society, backing people who do the right thing but ending the free ride for those who fail to take responsibility. The new sanctions will be introduced within six months of a Conservative Government taking office......The old way – the big government way – has failed. It’s time to tackle welfare dependency a new way – the Big Society way. We’re going to change the whole way welfare is done in this country so everyone takes responsibility and plays their part. This is our new welfare contract: do the right thing and we will back you all the way. But fail to take responsibility – and the free ride is over. " Lets be honest folks if you look at the present benefits system its in some respects better to be out of work, as the wages in black spots for employment just reach the minimum wage, the problem is that the minimum wages does not match the costs of living these days. As an example there was a job on offer in a local super store, the job was part time, thus the wage at the end of it was the same as some get from the dole. Thus why work at a dead end job if you don't have too, also lets be clear, if your a Teacher, Nurse, Doctor, etc its insulting to be offered a job you would give a 18 year old just out of College. But on the other hand this is also hubris, ( told you I understood Obama ), at least it would get you doing something, okay your older and better educated than most of the staff, in fact your older and better qualified that your boss, but at least you would gets some fresh hair, thus my point folks, sometimes the above category have to be forced to take job, ( can you see Obama and his arrogance working for minimum wage, or Gordon Brown for that matter ) but that is the political elite folks, the rest of us have to live in the real world.
