Fox News: Reports on comments by President Obama that the July 2011 withdrawal from Afghanistan will be conditions based. In 1963 before Dallas JFK withdrew around a thousand troops form Vietnam, the last time I looked events on the ground can change any War planning. Thus this is a wise move by POTUS, it gives him options, if the security is better in 2011 he can withdraw more troops but if the Taliban are still a threat it can be a very slow hand over to the Kabul Government. It can be postulated that the Taliban will try a Tet style offensive in the New Year as to place pressure on Obama, they will want to make Obama the next LBJ and 2011 to be 1968 all over again. Thus the next 18 months will really test President Obama and his policy in Afghanistan. Out of ten I give the Obama policy a 4.5% chance of being a success, and that's being very optimistic.
A look at the Politics of the United States and the UK. The Foreign Policies of both countries and how they behave in the International Community.
